DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help

Sigh, this is an on going problem for me. Even after resetting my fsx.cfg and starting from scratch I am still faced with this problem. I did everything that I could, including the heap limitation fix, disabling certain services, etc. I've really hit the wall with this and don't even know what to do now. I would hope that by switching to DX10 mode that this problem would go away. Very frustrated and angry at the moment. :angry: Do you think its because I have no pagefile set that its causing this? I have my Windows 7 install on a 128GB SSD.

Hey all- I finally took the plunge with some of the DX10 tweaks. After starting with a fresh .cfg file and running the DX10 tweaks / patch - wow! My sim has never looked so crisp. The 8x SGSS makes everything really nice. My biggest issue, believe it or not, my favorite screen capture tool will only snap a blank screen when in full screen mode. I have tried Fraps as well with the same results. In windows mode, no problem. Full screen = blank. For fun, I changed only the D3D10= back to 0, and when I go to full screen mode, the resolution drops down to what appears my second monitors resolution but the full screen capture works. Hi everyone, I finally decide to give DX10 mode in FSX a try, since I was having a ton of CTD, OOM, stackhash, BEX and random crashing lately. I followed Paul's guide and did all the necessary settings that was mentioned. I still need someone to point me in the right direction for what settings to use with NVIDIA Inspector. My current setup is: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, EVGA GTX 680 FTW (4GB), i7-3770k overclocked to 4.5Ghz, 16GB Ram, 30inch Monitor running at 2560x1600, 128GB SSD as my main C: Drive that the OS is installed on, and a 2TB HDD for mostly everything else including FSX installation. I finally tweaked FSX to a knife edge using the How To guide and forum suggestions. Most of my A/Cs yield a steady 29-30 fps in all but the busiest scenery areas where I'm able to maintain low to mid 20s. My addons all work during the daylight hours but the fsdreamteam airports crap out after dark. LAX v2.0 was optimized for DX10 and works great regardless of time of day. All was good in the world and even my PMDG 744 smoked. Then I upgraded to REX Esentials +OD. I immediately saw fps drop to 15 and every time the weather engine refreshed, fps dropped below 10!!! Is there a noticeable % impact on performance using SweetFX and DX10? Could anyone using it comment on how stable it is and please post some pictures along with your specific settings and customization (e.g. AA, FSX bloom on / off, etc). Thanks.

I love my Dubai Scenery but when I landed there tonight the airport ground textures were greyed out I turned off DX10 and all was well. Has anyone found a dx10 fix yet?

Hi ! This is my first post in this great forum and I would like to thank everyone for all the job made to make FSX work in DX 10 mode? It is just wonderful ! I have a question concerning a2a light on add on planes. I use Carenado Bonanza F33 plane. The issue I have is with lights going off in outside view. Nav, Taxi and Landing lights going off when facing them starting at about 90* angle. Do anyone have the same probleme? Vahagn

I am loving the DX10 experience on my ATI HD 7970 3GB Ghz card. Wow. But I really want to try the Shader 3 mod as well. I hear it gives the same advantage as DX10 for ATI. Screaming fast framerates when drilling holes in deep overcast clouds. I already can jump from DX9 to DX10 and back without issue. I just make sure I flush the Shader Cache when I do and my CFG is pretty lean so I need not change anything there when I do swap out. But if I swap out to DX9 to test this Shader Mod, I dont want it to break my DX10 as I have it now. It's not going to is it? Or even change it? Thanks! Charles.

I've recently made the conversion to DX10. Unfortunately, the addon I'm having the most trouble with is my favorite. The textures for the Wilco PIC ERJ-145 won't work in DX10 mode. I have already added the highmemfix=1 line to my FSX.cfg file so what do I do now? Any help in making this work would be wonderful. This is my favorite addon and its the one I fly the most, that is until now...

Hi, I haven't been around for some time - too busy enjoying the fruits of much tweaking and DX10! I decided to try SweetFX, new version. Copied the files and folder to FSX, and was delighted with the result. I loaded the Feel There 777, and found the VC to be completely translucent. The instruments were invisible, but shadows of knobs etc. could be seen. A few other aircraft are affected, to some extent, a few freeware aircraft are similar to the 777, and some are not affected at all. White in any livery is blindingly bright. None of these symptoms were apparent before SweetFX, and what I'm describing is after removal of all the SweetFX files. Any …

Is there a fix for this? As I fly around, large collections of streetlights turn on and off. I hope this is not one of those "cant change it" issues because I would hate to abandon pixel perfect AA, 30 fps stutter free beautiful ambient light flying. Arrrggggg. Charles.

Hello, First, Thank you for posting the instructions, "How To" documents and all this wonder information. So far so good, I have my machine running FSX with DX10 and it's going great! I do like the idea of having my machine use more of it's resources for FSX so I like the idea behind AlacrityPC. I downloaded and installed this program. I created a profile named "FSX". The only options I changed other than the default settings were, I checked under programs to turn off/diable all unnecessary programs. Has anyone had any joy with DX10 on a 3DTV? I've got a lovely big Samsung LED TV, and FSX in DX10 is looking great thanks to all you top people on this forum. But I wondered.... is it worth forking out quite a bit of money for active 3d glasses for the TV? Does the 3D effect work well with FSX? Anyone got any experience doing this?

Hi, I don't suppose this is a DX10 problem, but I could sure use a hint or some help. Last time I posted, I was reinstalling FSX etc., after a flirtation with SweetFX. I've been flying only in UK and Europe, lately, so installed FSG Ultimate, GEX/EU, UT/EU, FTX England and Wales, UK2000 Airports, and photo scenery for Scotland. So far all ok. I had trouble installing Alderney from Earth Simulations, and getting it to appear in FSX. It appeared to be an "uninstalling" problem, so I removed all entries for ES in the registry. Happy days. Just done 8.5 hr flight from EGLL to KPHL with LVLD767 in DX10. No problems at all, no crashes. Frame rates more or less stuck at 30 almost entire flight.

Would someone please tell me how I can make my new Carenado Addons stop crashing my sim. The older Carenado stuff (the Mooney 201, C182RG, C182Q, C206, F33A, V35B, Arrow IV, Archer II, Cherokee 180, and C152) works great, but the new stuff (C182T, B200, C337, C340, B58, A36, C90, TBM850) crashes. I use DX10 Preview mode because I love the performance increase. The Addons work great, but in DX10 mode they cause my screen to go blank and then freeze my sim shortly after. Hey all I made the switch to dx10 today and at the start sweet FX was working but the colors were way off so I tried to adjust the HDR settings now I just get black screen whether or not HDR is turned on in sweet FX. Working again turned off HDR in Sweet FX

I have downloaded the basler b67 freeware and works fine under dx10. The only thing which is irritating is a constant flickering on the left side at the window bar. Where in other words the window fits into the frame. Does someone recognize these and if so is there a solution for or where could I reach the team .

Hello All, i have tearing when i´m using two monitors. I set 1/2 VSync Refresh Rate in Nvidia Inspector and have the entry in the fsx.cfg DisablePreLoad=1 in the [Main] With one monitor it works perfectly! But with two, Vsync doesn´t work and i have tearing. The only solution is two use D3DOverrider but this is an old fashion tool and it stutters. Any idea´s? Thank you Andreas

Hi guys, I have always wanted to dabble with the DX Preview and so after a recent Windows 7 + FSX complete reinstall I thought now is the opportunity. Have to say it's kind of a "leap of faith" but if you follow the instructions on the "DX10 Notes" pdf it all works well. The result? I love what I see. Almost constant 30fps and no stutters. I haven't pushed it hard yet with an NGX flight but from just some random flying around in the trike TrackIR does not stutter once. Very impressed. I get the feeling I can push the autogen up to Dense even Very Dense and get comparable FPS with say DX9 + Autogen Normal. That's the feeling. I am prepared to live with the …

Hello im barely understand how works buffer pool settings... i read pdf guide and using; [bufferPools] BufferPools=1 PoolSize=10485760 RejectThreshold=5242 with DX10 mode... My laptop has core2duo with 2.8 ghz well sometimes its going up to 3.0ghz also (i have button to make turbo boost) and waching at CPU-Z well however its still laptop processor so with my 260M GTX with 1 gb ram (4gb system) actualy wich settings i need to use?... if theres any other players using laptop can help me with their experiences? some forums im seeing they are using BufferPools=0 on lower computers than mine... so i got confused can i get also simple explanetion about how it…

May be it is already in this forum but could not find it. anyway my question is due to a new installment of my computer the convertor gives a message imagetool not defined. so reading the manual it says if you have fsx de luxe installed it should be there already. but i dont know what path I have to follow. c:programfile 86/games/fsx /......but the manual show sdk and terrain but i cannot find it. any idea or help would be appreciated.
