Hello, I am still only making first steps in the wonderful world of FSX, but already very grateful for this resource - I have configured FSX to run really well in DX9 thanks to auto .cfg analysis and helpful posts of Avsim members. My current problem however I could not solve through search: FSX works perfectly well in DX9 (any map, any craft), run perfectly well in Dx10 (prior to installation of Stevejp's patch), but now -after the aforementioned "shader release 3.2.2" installation, DX9 continues to work well, but DX10 mode loads up perfectly initially and always crashes to black screen 5-20 seconds afterwards. (Nvidia kernel has crashed and was recovered) Any pl…

I have noticed that tool tip doesn't work anymore in any aircraft and as far as I can remember this is the case after enabling DX10. Is this a problem with the DX10 tweaks or must it be something else ? Yes I have checked that show tool tips are checked in the FSX options.

Hi - I currently have FSX on my laptop which has Nvidia Optimus (Intel HD4000 & GT640M). When in DX9 mode FSX shows the GT640M as my graphics card. Once I go to DX10 Preview my only option is the HD4000. Has anyone experiences this? Is there a fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated as on my old laptop I was able to use DX10 and preferred it to DX9. Thanks, John

Brand new to the DX10 business and liking what I have seen so far. I have a few questions but the one bothering me the most right now is when checking things over in the config file periodically, I am seeing 2 entries for the graphics card. Is this a normal? I have deleted the second entry twice and find it back in the config. Also, the entries indicate different settings. 1 has trilinear in the entry and the other says anisotropic. Hi all, I have an issue with DX10 full screen (which doesn't appear in DX9). I searched the forums but didn't find anything similar, only BSODs and other stuff. So the problem is that the full screen mode doesn't really go full screen. Instead it looks like FSX is being displayed in the middle of my desktop. There's a "window" with FSX inside which seem to have the dimension of the initial FSX window. It's not a real window, doesn't have title bar, etc, and it looks like a full resolution view (1920x1200) is scaled down to fit into it. I can switch to windowed mode and back without any issues. As you know already I have my dx10 running fine with steve fantastic software. Also the rain fix did it good job I am happy with it and dont want to go back anymore. I have set according the guidelines in grafic the multisample per pixel etc on both 4 and in nividia inspector 4x 4 3d3 although i have not any 3d installed and 4xgrid etc. starting in khqm bowerman i noticed flickering on the runway but dont know if this is a wellknown question but as soon as i put gray and rainy then the fps drop seriously so from 30 fps max to 17 fps any idea what i could do on those two things 1- flickering will be gone if i put in NI 8xq and 8x grid but hten i have problems wit…

I'm hanging in there on DX10, as I think I've overcome many of my image quality issues. One of the enhancements I know is out there is white caps, however I'm unable to find them. Are there any particular settings I need to see them? Tried all varieties of water 2.x and wind. Simon

Since I started with dx10 I had already a couple of blue screens with some remarks as it is kernel power problem and look at the site clock watchdog timeout. Within w7 i had put in the fsx uiautomation and the latest fsuipc which should prevent us from ooms in this area. question i have is with dx10 does both help files working too in fsx dx10 or is it for dx9 only? any idea is welcome

Today John Venema, ORBX CEO, answered in the ORBX forum the question "Will FTX Global be DX10 preview compatible?" as follows: "Yes it will, as long as you apply some of the recent DX10 fixes discovered on various forums. It will present exactly the same DX10 compatibility as default FSX does". Good news. Wulf

Hi all like paula, I got the link about Steve's DX10 and wanted to give it a try. First of all, I would like to Thank PJ and Steve for this amazing experience! The problem I am having is VSYNC(screen tearing) and AA. Paula suggested some changes to Inspector but same results. Hi there, I intend to build a new PC with Intel I7 3770K and OC 4,7 GHz. I wonder if Nvidias GTX670 will be sufficient for FSX DX10 or GTX 680 is the more adequate one and added value. There are mentioned in the AVSIM Software and Hardware Guide for FSX some CPU/GPU combinations, but could not find the right answer. Any recomendation is appreciated. Wulf

How many of you are considering moving to Prepar3d 2.0 if it supports DX10 or DX11? I have considered it, even the current version - but what stopped me - there is no DX10 only DX9 in this version! I know for me, if I can still run my existing FSX compatible addons in P3D 2.0, and if I get DX10 or similar "benefits" from the rendering engine I'll be doing it. This is question for us DX10 users - so please don't move it to the P3D forum (I don't mind boxing rings, but that place is like watching bloodsport )

I got from the simforum a link for steve's dx10 downloads so I did and the positive thing is I dont have any stutters are hickups. what I noticed is water looks like white so I tried fswclight and tried one of the possibilties given but it didnot do anything furthermore smooth flying but as soon as its raining then fps drops from 30 to 10 any idea how I could improve the dx10? if it wont work then I always can go back to dx9 isn't it

I asked some questions here and there but still confiused how to handlle. I have downloaded FSWC lite and installed. How can I change from water view by the auters? for instance I went to custom water shader and can choose. lets say I want ashton's favourate settings. I click on it and see water 20. clicking on it and I got set cumtom shader.dx9 has been swapped. so going back to fsx and starts up. nothing is changed. any idea what i do wrong?

Hello, I just switch to DX10 using the recommendation of the pined topics (thank to the author) I notice that I have no more tool tips in the VC and that some of my AI Traffic (WOAI) appears all white (no texture on it) Is it known issues ? Do you know if some fixes exist ? Thanks in advance.

So I thought that most airports were working fine with DX10, until I land at a couple and find night textures aren't working for taxiways and buildings... Only some pay ware airports. Is it safe to run the addon converter to just fix the night textures? Or will it try to convert the whole lot? I havent needed to use it yet at all..

hi i use these settings: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bp0r8nftpr3n9lb/GuiejqcbCf#f:4xSGSS%2B4xS%2BFXAA.jpg And clouds, even with 1024 resolution and DXT5 optimized are killing my gpu and FPS. I can go 30 to 24-25 fps with broken clouds and 20-22 with overcast + some broken layers. And when i am passing IN the clouds i go below 20. But when i am at high altitude they don't affect my fps too much. (except if there are 2 layers of overcast ...) Do you know how to desactivate clouds antialiasing and keep it for other objects ?

Here's a screenshot of Orbx PAKT @ night which shows two of the night light problems I'm having. The glowing runway lights I believe is unique to Orbx airports but the cone-shaped green/white rotating beacon is not. I've tried the night light fix in the how to guide but the result is the same. I believe I've already been using the night light fix and no longer have the original .fx files so if anyone has a backup of the 7 files mentioned and could upload them somewhere I would appreciate it. Or, if anyone knows of another fix here please do tell.

I am still excited to continue experimenting with the DX10. unfortunately one of my favorite aircraft, A2A cub is missing tool important gauges in DX10. somewhere in the forums I've read that's rolling back to the previous modified DX10 shaders can fix the problem. Hi Guys, Okay, need some help here to figure this out. I've been running dx10 successfully for months and loving it. But I've noticed a few aircraft vc's that don't have effective night lighting. What I mean is that the lighting does actually trigger to "on" but the instrument lighting and/or panel floods are so dim that it's not really useable. I have addon converter x and have tried with and without it but that doesn't seem to be it. These are also older aircraft or port-overs from fs9 so that could be it too. But I see videos and pics of people having properly working night lighting on them in fsx so I'm stumped. Super frustrating because I'd love to fly these …

Hi all, Getting back into sim flying after a 2 year hiatus now that I have the rig to do it right (NVIDIA GeForce 680GTX; driver ver 310.90; intel i73770 3.5 GHz; 16 GB memory; win 7 x64). Was flying with DX10 preview ignoring the occasional artifact when I saw Paul J's sticky in this forum on "How To". Long story short - went through Steve's pdf (Thank you for the improved shaders!). All was fine until I added the changes listed under "Nav and Strobe Lights" fix and the "Runway Lighting" fix. Basically these last few files and tweaks did the exact opposite for me.
