October 6, 201312 yr With the latest build I can finally fly Day to Dusk to Night to Dawn without any issues. Impressive work! My FSX.CFG and nVidia settings are apparently not traditional but they've provide great results for my system. I've posted some video and screen shots over at the appropriate AVSIM forums ... I know it's good when I start recording. Big thank you and big thumbs up! Rob
October 6, 201312 yr Rob, you are my technical superior, and I have learned much from your many extremely insightful posts here, so if, by chance, I've helped you in any way, I think it was just plain old luck! Many Thanks for being here. October 6, 201312 yr Rob did you ever install that Titan you bought 6wks or so ago? If so was it worth the price?
October 6, 201312 yr Many Thanks for being here. No, thank you, without your influence, I probably would not have returned to FSX. Thank you for pushing DX10 and making so many of us "aware". Rob did you ever install that Titan you bought 6wks or so ago? If so was it worth the price? Yes, not for FSX, but for other applications I use yes (C4D for example). If FSX/gaming is your primary use, I'd recommend going with a 780 and save yourself a few hundred bucks. I did have some problems with Titan (not specific to FSX) and RMA'd it ... I'm running two video cards right now (not SLI) but still use the 680 as primary for FSX.
October 6, 201312 yr When installing the update do you have to uninstall the previous version and return everything back to DX9? Jose De Campos London
October 6, 201312 yr With the latest build I can finally fly Day to Dusk to Night to Dawn without any issues. When installing the update do you have to uninstall the previous version and return everything back to DX9? I wondered if this really is a NEW version or not...? I didn't see any news about an update. Isn't it simply the same old version but with the corrected uninstaller?
October 6, 201312 yr Yes, Jose - un-install the libraries first, (page 9 in the manual) and then use the Control Panel to remove the application - then run the new installer. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

October 6, 201312 yr Yes, Jose - un-install the libraries first, (page 9 in the manual) and then use the Control Panel to remove the application - then run the new installer. I didn't actually do this, I just ran the Installer leaving my existing DX10 Fixer in place ... seemed to work as the build number has changed. It performed a re-scan during install and the fonts and button images now appear and are correct. I also like how it will detect changes after I adjust some REX textures and install them. Rob I didn't see any news about an update. Isn't it simply the same old version but with the corrected uninstaller? No, per what Julian said. There was a thread about the new update ... the product itself doesn't have an automatic update checker. Also looks like Steve changed "button" state to reduce confusion. Still not the way I'd do a UI, but this is Steve's baby so he's da Boss - the core of it works so that matters the most.
October 6, 201312 yr You're probably right about the un-install, Rob - I'm just in the habit of doing it for testing "the next one" again.. and again... and again... and ag... Steve was very prolific.. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 6, 201312 yr Commercial Member To clarify, yes its a new version, no I haven't requested a mass email to be sent as I was planning a new new update later this week. I think that installing over the top with the FSS wrapper is probably ok but you do need to uninstall/install the libraries. @Paul That wont work with my installer which does insist on a full reinstall and entry of that 20 character code. October 6, 201312 yr Correct! I prefer a full un-install, anyway, and leaving nothing behind to compromise a new install. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 6, 201312 yr I don't know if the following is my fault or a fault. Today I downloaded the file again from FlightSimStore and installed it over my existing copy. It seems to be the only way to find out if one has the latest version as the filename doesn't change with the version update. When I tried to start the programme, it asked me for a code I didn't have. I then uninstalled it using the Windows control panel. I installed it again, into an empty directory, when prompted, I entered the FSS code and it installed itself. However, again on trying to run it, it asked me for the code I didn't have. I uninstalled it a second time and then ran CCleaner which identified and remove the redundant key from my registry. Thereafter, I re-installed again and this time it worked as expected, without the second request for a code. Can you advise me (us) whether the cause was my installation over the first copy or if, perhaps, the uninstaller doesn't remove the original registry entry fully? All a waste of time for me as the versions were the same (19) but perhaps it might be a problem when it comes to any future updates. Regards, Nick
October 6, 201312 yr I know I probably did not need to, but I restored the ShadersHL folder. And Paul, I agree with Rob, if it was not for you and Steve, I would still be ding donging over the Portland Cityscape, and only last night I flew into Orbx YMML with 900MB of free VAS. October 6, 201312 yr Phew! Julian! I can't take all this love - it's Steve who deserves the credit - it's all his fault! Of course - if it wasn't for him, we'd all be P3D Robots...
