Coming off of an Ivy Bridge patform, Kaby was a breath of fresh air. The much more organized bios is great and Gigabyte has a nice EZ OC guide that kind-of makes sense. The main feeling is that there is room to move. 5ghz is trivial but may require delidding. Its a process that requires dexterity or you can use one of the new tools. This process will give me about 15C. Like SandyBridge, Kaby is an easy one to OC, possibly the only platform to do 5ghz on air reliably ever. Cheers jja

Hello I am considering installing P3D, ORBX (global & Vector for Europe ) Active sky, PMDG and FSLABS aircraft on my existing SSD drive. I have 91Gb remaining ( I already have FSX-SE installed). I expect that the planned installation will use most of remaining capacity on my SSD drive. Will I experience severe performance issues using P3D if I fill my drive to capacity ? It is probably advisable to by a new SSD but I am trying to avoid havining to re-install everything again Advice and comments welcome Clive Alexander I

Apologies for the spelling in the title. Must have been excitement. Hehe. 52% more IPC. They beat their 40% goal! 1800X = $499. Intel = $1000.

I've decided I need to pull the trigger and build myself a new PC that will be used for FSX and P3D exclusively. My system just can't run the complex aircraft with any type of scenery. I know there's a ton of topics here regarding the same thing but I'm only concerned with my build and some of these messages get a little convoluted so I am asking for opinions/advice on the following system. I tried to mirror the Jetline Systems Gravity GT2 the best I could and determined I could build it myself for about $1000 less than retail. I realize this isn't the exact system but would still like some opinions on what I might expect with this rig. Thank you. ASRock Fatal1ty …

Alright, so when I got my Chrome Book, I thought it had amazing performance, but when I looked at my specs, the processor was a celeron, and clocked at 1.40 GHZ! WHAT? And the ram was 2GB! WHAT????????? It performed very good! How is this possible?

  13. Hello dear avsimmers I built my pc 5 years ago. The specs are Core i3 2120 1155p , 2x4GB DDR3 1333mhz Ram , Radeon HD6670 2gigs 128bit graphics , Gigabyte H61 MA-D3V mobo. I'm bored of compromising performance for graphics and vice versa and want to make some significant changes to run the P3D or FSX-SE smoothly with decent graphics. Here, I'm able to find used i7 2600k or 3770k in good condition as the mobo is 1155p and thinking about putting a GTX 1060 inside. But I'm pretty much concerned about the mobo as it's old and not sure if it could run these hardware consistently. and i know that it's like impossible to make a stable cpu overlock on a H61 chipset mot…

Well, last night I purchased a Curved 65 inch Samsung 4K TV for my simulator. As a TV it's impressive; however, the bad news came for my P3D sim. I have an EVGA 970 card, CPU 6700k. Setting my card's resolution at the TV's 'Native Resolution' of 3840 x 2160, my fps drops from 29fps to around 12fps.. and the lag is significant. Why? And this is settings P3D's inner resolution at around 1920x1080 In order to get back to a near 25-30 fps and smoothness, I need to lower the Nvidia 970 card's resolution to around 1920 x 1080. Increasing or decreasing P3D's resolution makes no difference other than: the higher above 1080x (), will consume more VAS. So, then I'm d…

I have tried searching on google for an answer on this, but haven't found anything useful. First, my PC specs: CPU: i7-4790k MB: MSI B85M-E45 GPU: Geforce GTX 770 2GB RAM: 8 GB OS: Win 10 64-bit So, I decided to try OC my CPU to get some more FPS. Since I never have done this before, I went to google and started reading a few guides. One guide I found, was using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, and I started with that one. My problem is that I cannot go any higher than 44x on the multipliers for the active cores. I also tried overclocking in BIOS, with the same result. My computer runs stable at these settings, and the temperature is not an issue ye…

I use ultimate De-frag 4 but doesn't the one that comes with Microsoft tools get the job done just as well? Seems to with less hassle and it seems to work faster and you can set it up to d-frag automatically. Is there really any advantage to using the payware? Knowledgeable advice appreciated. Hello Everyone, About three years ago I built my dream system to run FSX boxed edition and finally had a system that ran it reasonably well. I delidded my i7 3700 3.5 GHz and with water cooling successfully overclocked it to 4.0GHz. Combined with the then top of the range GTX 680 2Gig Graphics, SSD drives and 8 GIG of Gskill RAM running at 2000, I was in heaven. Sadly after a catastrophic event last week (in computer terms) I am faced with loading everything including hundreds of add-ons from scratch. If I am going to upgrade, now is the time. My question is this. Is there anything out there now, some three years later, that will give me significant enough gains in FSX p…

Well folks,"i must say that after years of upgrading, and tweaking and doing all sort of things to get the best out of my system". It all started with me when I bought FSX Boxed in 2006, All things went out the window from that point on. Trying to get FSX running just regular on a machine was impossible. FSX demanded shear power from the cpu and could care less how powerful your video card was. In fact that was the year I stopped upgrading video cards; they were not solving my problem. I had to start upgrading my cpu's on a regular basis. But as I found out in time, that there were no cpu's strong enough to take FSX on at that time, nor in the near …

Looking for opinions on a 6800k vs the new 7700k for simming. I understand that 7700k will be slightly faster for mainly single threaded games such as GTA V / Battlefield etc there are tons of benchmarks for highly single threaded games , but what about CPU heavy games that also take advantage of multi threading like X-Plane/FSX/DCS/P3D? The other thing I'm considering is if the X99 boards are a dead end, will there be a 7800k (or whatever it will be)? I'm using Oculus VR so I want the best performance on sims. Currently using an aging 3930K running @ 4.2Ghz it does ok but I've pushed this system as far as it's going.
