I was looking fwd to the New Rizen Cpu but now I am having seconds thoughts since win 7 is not going to be supported. I don't really like the idea that win 10 is going to be tracking my every move. Or installing malware apps without my authorization. Or spamming me with ads. Is it that bad ? Maybe I should purchase last years I7 since its still compatible with win 7 ? https://www.gnu.org/proprietary/malware-microsoft.en.html Blocking Telemetry in Windows 7 and 8.1 http://www.ghacks.net/2017/02/11/blocking-telemetry-in-windows-7-and-8-1/

So, my i5-2500K@4,2 with Asus P8Z68 mobo and Asus 660Gti has served my flightsimming needs well since since 2011 but with PMDG 747 around the corner and wanting to try P3D it's time to move on! I'm looking at this setup: CPU: i7-7700K 4,2 Ghz LGA1151 MoBo: Asus Strix Z270F Video: Asus Strix GTX 1070 (ordering these three items will give me a €130 cash back) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 512 GB or 1 TB Chassi: Fractal Design Define R5 PSU: Corsair RM750x, 80PLUS gold 750W Cooler: haven't decided yet but have a Corsair H80 in my current setup that has worked flawlessly, so perhaps the Corsair H100i GTX V2 But the choice of memory is a jungle! Hope someone can educate me here. I'm working on getting the parts for my new system. It will be either an i5-7600k or an i7-7700k, depending on the deal I can get. As for memory I'm looking at either 16GB or 32Gb (anticipating for a 64bit P3D) also depending on the price. Now what puzzles me is what memory clockspeed to get. I'm leaning towards a set of G.Skill RipJaws or Trident Zs. I can buy them in a large variety of clockspeeds, basically from 2400MHz up to somewhere in the neighbourhood of 4GHz. From going through some threads in this forum, I see most of you end up buying something like 3000, 3200 or 3400MHz. But based on what? There's quite a price dif…

  8. Hi folks, I recently got my a new laptop, not at all for FSX use, however I would've thought it could play FSX semi-decently - and thats all I really wanted. However, as I updated my from my 4 year old laptop, I am barely noticing any improvement in FPS despite the newer hardware being much faster. Here's the specs: Old: CPU: 3632QM - 2.2GHz/4-Core i7 GPU: Radeon HD 7650m (400tflops) with 2GB RAM: 8GB 1600MHz HDD: 5400RPM OS: Windows 10 New: CPU: 6700HQ - 2.6Ghz/4-Core i7 (I have checked that no thermal throttling is occurring) GPU: Radeon Pro 460 (1.8gflops) with 4GB RAM: 16GB 2400Mhz HDD: Superfast SSD! 9. Hi all, I've posted a similar question on the P3D forums but I thought I would ask the technical AVSim Gurus for some help on my new build. I last built a PC for flight sims back in 2012 - I have a i7-3930k (6 cores) which I had overclocked to 4.3 Ghz and I have a GTX 780Ti. I was generally pretty happy with performance in P3D version 1 and 2 and it's been ok in v3 to a point. As I have been researching I can see that my timing looks likely to coincide with: 1) a new Intel and AMD CPU battle - whilst this will be great for all consumers ultimately, it isn't helping me with my planning. 2) a new Intel and AMD GPU battle - I'm going to wait until later on t…

Hello all, I noticed a huge flurry of input into the Intel/Ryzen conversation prior to the release of the Ryzen chip. There was significant hope for the success of Ryzen but, after release there appears to have been very little to be said. I believe XPlane has the most to benefit from with the 8 cores of Ryzen but has this been confirmed (in particular with reference to XPlane) for any of the Flight sims. Has/is there any published data of comparisons, benefits or other. I am still looking at upgrading in the near future but still wondering which is the right chip for Xplane. Can anyone help please Regards to all Tony …

I'm looking to buy some older RAM off someone. (Someone here has got to have 2 sticks of 8GB of DDR3!) RAM prices are quite high right now (approx 130 USD for 16gb, last year summer was 90 USD). Ouch. Preferably 2x8GB 1600mhz cas 9 1.5v but I think my old mobo would take anything really. Hopefully I could buy it from you for less than new sticks? Anyway I would appreciate any help! Thanks!

Am considering a new build using a delidded 7700k. I've done several delids in the past, so I'm pretty well set on the basics. But I do have a couple of detail questions - want to make sure I'm up to speed on the latest/best techniques, since my last build (a 4790k) was two years ago. So.. -- What's the current thinking on whether or not to remove the black adhesive from the bottom of the IHS and the top of the PCB? In the past I've removed it in order to get the IHS as close to the core as possible. But I've seen posts by people I respect suggesting that with Kaby it's better to leave the black adhesive in place. What would the advantage be? -- Is it better…

My GPU is definitely ready for an upgrade, and I´ve been looking at the GTX 1070. However, I recently came across a good deal for a CPU upgrade which includes the following components: ASUS ROG Strix Z270H Gaming, Socket-1151 Intel i7-7700k Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000MHz 16GB So, in your opinion, what would be my best choice here? Hello.. i'm in desperate need of help. i love P3D however i just cant put up with the performance i'm getting, and am willing to make one more purchase to my setup if it'll help. My issue is with heavy layers of clouds, my fps drops to low teens and single digits and the choppiness is unbearable. This is happening b/c I insist on using 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling because the blurry cockpit textures are unbearable to me. My setup is i5 4670k oc to 4.5ghz, gtx 970, 16gb ram. Performance for me is absolutely perfect unless there are clouds.. if i go sli on another gtx 970 would that help cure this problem while using 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling? Your help …

Hello I am buying a new system which will have an I7-7 processor and a Nvidia 1080 Graphics Card for use with P3D and FSX SE (using PMDG and FSLABS aircraft) I have a choice of Asus X99 or Gigabyte X99 motherbaords. Is there any preference (Asus is cheaper)? I have selected to have 32Gb Ram, however to save on cost I may go for 16Gb Ram. It was almost trivial to delid my Kaby maybe because it was my 3rd and I was blown away by the junky thermal paste on my die.. The actual delid took about 5 minutes but the cleaning and re-install added about 15 minutes. The result was very nice 20+c drop at 99% load @ 4900ghz . My build was cruzin in the 70's under full load before the delid I was hitting 100c. Cheers jjs

Hello AVSIM community, After being in the forum for a while and some research done I'm almost ready to start building my very first gaming rig. It's worth to say the PC will be used to play mainly P3d (+add-ons), but also I would like to try X-Plane and FSX at some point. My intentions also are to join online aviation networks like VATSIM and IVAO. Additionally, I'll sometimes play to racing sims as well. Last, I'm going to use this computer for some video and image editing. With that being said, I would like to have your help and recommendations about what I've chosen so far before start this build. A majority of problem simmers face today is hardware compatibility and performance issues.Picking the right hardware is crucial for enhanced simulation performance.I'll be addressing the hardware that i'm using and how it performs in P3D v3. CPU: Intel Core i7 6700HQ (Stock 2.60GHz,usually runs at 3.06GHz) GPU:Nvidia GTX 950M 4GB RAM: 8GB DDR4L HDD: 1TB WD HDD Now i admit, this is not a high/extreme 60fps simming machine. However,i have different opinions on it.P3D works fantastic for a laptop for the price range.I'm kind of new to P3D So i might be missing something here. But i will give my experience with the i7 6700HQ al…

But here is my project : I currently run everything on only one 1TO SSHD with 2 partitions, one for OS and one for Game (1/3 & 2/3). I would like to go for a 1TO SSD to replace the SSHD. Is it possible to do a straight copy of the SSHD on the new SSD and just swap the 2 of them and boot the computer just like before? Also, is it possible after that to do regularly a backup copy of the SSD on the SSHD in order to have a mirror copy so that I can swap back the SSHD if I have a problem with the SSD? If it is possible, what software is needed to do copy and backup? D…
