Hi,I recently just made a new system. I have had nothing go right with it since it got up and running. First a DOA Moboard, and then many issues since. The Moboard is the: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4.I have been getting a "Motherboard is not ACPI compliant" message on a BSOD. In addition to that, I get "Windows Registry - the registry had to be recovered from file or log. Recovery successful"Along with those, BSOD's saying windows did not load so it could save itself. Also, a lot of times, the time is off when I start the computer, usually 1 hr ahead. Here is my system:Case: Sunbeam Transformerhttp://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx...N82E16811166004Motherboard: Gigabyte G…

It aint much, but if anyone was considering buying a new gpu for fsx you can see that more power does make a difference, at least under the settings they are using. I've always been firm in believing that fsx is a cpu limited application, so its nice to see the gpu making a difference. I might pick one of these up, since it seems like ati drivers are getting along better with fsx then nvidia drivers are.http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3219&p=2

I have an 8800 GT Superclocked to 650/950 from stock 600/900. I want to OC it even more so as to beat the performance of the 8800 GTS 512, which has now drastically gone down in price just a few weeks after I bought the GT x(! I tried nTune, but it has the GPU option checkbox grayed out, so is it safe to manually OC it? To MATCH the 8800 GTS 512, I need to raise the mem clock to 970 from 950. But, what is the highest I can go in both clocks without permanently damaging the card causing it to artifact where it once didn't (like I did with my old Radeon 9250)?

Hi: I have followed the directions in this excellent posting:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=436619&page=I followed them step by step, yet when finished, my defrag program still indicates that I have 8 fragmented files and 28% total defragmentation...The screen appears to indicate that a good defrag job has been done...So, why the 28% defrag remaining? I am using O&O Defrag, just like in the directions in the posting...Thanks for your assistance...Steve in Kansas

Can someone simplify and list, step by step, the recommended defrag sequence using O&O Defrag after a fresh install of DSX including SP1/2? Thanks a lot...

I don't know if this will help anyone or not, it help me save some money for now. I have upgraded my FSX rig twice now so I had I had a MB with a E4400 on it just sitting around. So I thought I'd pop it into My old XP box and use it for fs9. Not so fast. The old hhd is IDE while the newer MB was sata. Drat, thought I, I'll have to buy a new drive and copy everything over. Not a bad idea, but I'm really overstreached on computer spending. At the computer store I found an adapter from IDE to Sata. Works great until I can buy a better HHD.Just thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone is in the same poor boat I'm in.Bob

I've been having one or two graphic glitches with my current nvid driver so I decided to try the 174.12 as recommended. The set up process seemed to go OK but then my HD failed and I was unable to boot my machine. It seems that the install failed and in the process corrupted the registry system hive. Fortunately I had a back up image of the HD on an external drive and so was able to boot with a recovery disk and reinstall the HD image so all is well. I've got no idea if the problem was caused by the drive installer or by something within my system. Does anyone have any advice before I go thro' the process again with a new copy of the drivers. My operating system is XP …

Hi,The Quad core Q6600 seem like a smarter buy, however I know that neither FS9 or FSX will use the extra cores. They are in about the same price range. I run FS9, don't have FSX installed yet. Which processor would you recommend? I don't play any other games much...Thanks!

Just wanted to pass this on...I know some of you use this product. Lots of changes and more performance.http://disktrix.com/ud2008.htmShould be out in mid April.

Has anyone experimented with larger cluster sizes with the drive FSX is installed on?

Anybody know of common reasons for controls to be erratic? A lot of times my control inputs will freeze up repeatedly, sometimes even controlling the opposite of what I want. It will also bank sharply to the left on it's own. It seems to be concentrated on the ailerons. Not only that, but my controls are usually fine on the ground - only when I'm flying does it act up. What's up with this?

Hello all,Well, I've got the new system running and up . . . however overclocking seems to be very confusing. My old Asus MB (P4899E) use a percentage from the bios and it was very simple. Any one have a tutorial on doing this combo, or a set of settings for the bios to hit 4.2 or so?Thanks in advance,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. I'm new to Nvidia cards and nHancer. Can you change nHancer settings on the fly or do you have to close FSX after changes and then restart?I am trying to see what effect changes are having in FSX by making the changes with FSX in windowed mode then switching back to full screen. At the moment I can't see any difference!

A bit off topic I know, but i'm running out of ideas.I've downloaded the trial version of Acronus and am having great difficulty finding out if it will cover my specific needs. I've tried both their email and 'live chat' options (which is actually a computer), but cannot get a straight answer thus far..I have four 200Gb HDDs installed (NOT RAID). Each drive has two partitions. My prefered backup is to clone (sector by sector) each partition individually, to another individual partition on a different hard drive. With Acronis, I can only see options for cloning whole drives. Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and how. Many thanks

My Saitek AV8R-01 joystick is malfunctioning.I am in the market for a joystick, money is no object. Due to the physical limitations of my computer desk, I cannot use a two unit stick, which has a separate throttle unit, and joystick unit like the Saitek X52. i need a joystick which has the rudder and throttle controls on the same stick.I am unable to use my rudder pedals because of the physical set-up of my computer desk. I also do not want a wireless stick.I would like a recommendation based on your hands on experience.Thank you.StannerStanner

Hi,FSX+SP1TrackIR Pro ver. 4.1 (build 29)FSUIPC Version 4.1.6I'm trying to assign button 2 on my CH Products USB Yoke to center TrackIR while in the VC. This worked fine using FSUIPC in FS9 (by simply assigning F12 to button 2 and deleting the assignment of F12 in the sim to avoid conflicts), but I can't seem to get it to stick in FSX when I exit the hotkey page in TrackIR.Furthermore, I note that FSUIPC doesn't seem to see F12 on my keyboard and I have to use F11 instead. Can someone help please? Thanks.Mike

As far as I can tell, the only difference between these two chipsets, is that the X38 supports DDR3 1333 memory modules and PCIe 2.0.Is this correct information? If so, then it makes no sense to buy the more expensive X38/X48 unless you're going to run DDR3 memory, right?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

On one of my laptops that runs Vista, there is a file that attempts to run on startup called taivistaupgrade.exe This was installed by myself when converting to Vista from XP using a vendor upgrade path, so I know where the file comes from.I would like to stop the file from wanting to start (I get the box asking me if I want to run the file) when I start up the laptop. I have gone to msconfig and looked at the startup services there but can see no reference to this file anywhere there. Can anyone please suggest a solution to this? Thanks, Bruce.

I am running Vista 64 Ultimate with a Nvdia Quadro NVS 140m with 4GB of ram. For some reason, flight simulator runs fins until you try to change the view say from cockpit to spot plane or you change the day and time from the menu. Switching between windows will also cause a problem. The problem is that the screen appears to freeze, but it hasn't. As the engine sound still changes and all the file menus work. All I have to do is say click the map from the menu and press cancel then the screen returns to normal. I have installed all updates, Does anyone know a fix?I think it has to do with Hardware Acceleration, when I unchecked it from FS2002 it worked fine, but the graphi…
