FSX ACC pack and SP1 do not maintain a constant FPS even when nothing is moving: Situation description:B737 at end of rwy at KORD, NO AI, No tfc of any kind & no clouds. Every 30 seconds or so, the FPS goes into a dive during another 30 seconds. The dip is significant but will depend on many variables: ur PC and the FSX environment. The regular 30 second dip applies to SP1 and SP2. I have tested both.It also applies to XP SP3 and Vista …

Hi GuysI've just upgraded my hardware to AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ with 2 Gig of RAM and an Geforce 9800GT 512mb graphics.I'm currently running XP Home 32 Bit..I fly FS9 mainly Level D767 with UT Europe 76m European Mesh and lots of addon airports.Since my upgrade I've been getting lots of OOM's. The only sensible way to cure this I believe is to upgrade to 4 Gig of RAM and use a 64 bit operating system..The problem I have is most of my addon's are payware and it will be a nightmare to reload everything and find all the registration keys...If I buy XP 64 bit can I load it over XP Home 32 bit without going through the trauma of reloading everything else ???CheersSteve

Hello friends,The cloning process from WD Raptor150gb 10000rpmSATA Raid to a Seagate 500 gb 7500rpm SATA using Seagate Disk Wizard went through smoothly. When I started using FSX on the new drive it kept idling at 14% during Load terrain Area which I didn't have any problem with the SATA Raid drive .Should the cloning be done to a bigger SATA RAid drives ?Jimmy

Hi guys,I'm sure something like that has been discussed somewhere, but I can't really find anything that helps me(and I have spent a long time looking).First my RigPentium D 2.8 ghz(almost 4 years old)GeForce 7800 GT 2 GB RAMWindows XP 32325 gb HDI'm looking to upgrade, but am wondering what are my options. Is my CPU really a bottleneck compare to a E8500 dual core?I'm only using FS9,so I guess the extra core doesn't really make that big difference. If the CPU is OK I guess I could boost up my power supply to put in a better card. What do you guys think? Thanks a lot for the inputRichard

I am in the process of designing my new system and I would like to know if I can put both FS9 and FSX on the same drive.I will be putting FSX on the WD Vraptor drive based on the info I read about here. Will FS9 benefit from a Vraptor drive or will a WD black drive work okay? Thanks,Alan

Hi,I have two VelociRaptor 10K disks, what do you think would give better FSX performance - having them configured in a RAID0 config with both Vista 64 and FSX installed on this RAID0 disk set or to split the disks into single non-RAID drives but with Vista on one of them and FSX on the other one thus separated from each other?

Can someone with an i7 try the GPS 15R app to KBOS? Preferably using the SR22 G3 if you have it. 6-7 fps is really tough and I want to know what the i7's can get.

You know how it is (or maybe you don't!). You start off with thoughts of just upgrading one item and then you start to think "Well, maybe I could upgrade something else at the same time.". I've swapped my 7900GT 256MB for a 9600GT 512MB and the "upgrade" itch might need more scratching again! CPU is E6600 which is ok I think. As far as I can remember my motherboard Asus PW5 Deluxe can go up to a quad core CPU but I think that can wait. I currently have 2GB of DDR2 RAM. I had a look earlier today and an extra 2GB seemed very cheap. Perhaps the type I looked at wasn't very fast though. I can't remember. Then there's the OS. Currently on XP. What's the latest concensus (LOL!…

Why is sharing so complicated. I want to share a folder on my PC so my wife (her PC is also connected to the router) can view some pictures. When I share the folder, it says I have to add a user so they can logon? What??? That's odd. Can't I just find the path on the network and have her type it into her windows explorer?I use Vista x64, she uses XP 32bit, could that be the reason?

Why Vista doesnt use one core 100% for FS9???I have an AMD socket 939 X2 3600 running at 2GHz; 3GB DDR1 RAM and a Asus Nvidia AGP 7600 with 512MB.Using XP pro 32bit for FS9.1 it maxes out one core 100%, but using Vista FS9.1 or FSX is not using all what it can take - why???Regards, Torben

While I wait for my computer to be built I still have the option to have it updated so I'm debating to seriously put a WD Black 1TB HD in just for FSX. I might use it for some other stuff and seeing how BIG some of the addon files for FSX are I can see this as a worth while $45. I have the 320 drive going in for Vista/Other Games/Apps and my current IDE drive for FS9/Itunes. I ordered it with a 640 gig drive for FSX and I wonder with that big of a drive that it'll bog things down ... well I know it'll be hell to defrag.

I wish to upgrade my monitor to take advantage of the widescreen configuration available for the PMDG MD-11 2D panel. I would apprciate any advice on what sizes work well at what resolution, and what downside in performance or otherwie there may be. With FSX - Vista 32 I run a two monitor FS system (QX 6600 2.4 GHz - 8800 GTS): 21 inch Samsung for the main panel and a 19 inch Acer to display the console and MCDU pop up windows (both run at 1280 X 1024). I am considering a Samsung 30 inch widescreen with a resolution of 2560 X 1600. I have room for the 32 inch but the resolution is much less (1366 X 768) which may be cause for concern. I don't know. I would like to know w…

Hi guys, hope you can helpToday i was trying to overclock te q6600.I was in the bios , set the jumperfree configuration to manual , the cpu ratio control to 8 and fsb to 400.After a restart the fsb was still 266 in cpu-z and the multiplier at 6, only when running prime the multiplier was moving to 8 and returning to 6 when i switched of prime. After checking in the bios i saw that the fsb was set at 400 but in cpu-z 266 wich is default speed. What am i doing wrong and why is it in cpu-z 266 instead of 400 in the bios and why does the multiplier goes from 6 to 8 instead of staying at 8 wich i set in the bios ?Thanks in advance?Best regards,G

Hi Nick,After having read that you are the main FS expert I thought I ask you for some advice.Since a couple of years I always used the Blackviper servics charts to shut down services.Later I had a payable session with a Flightsim expert who helped me tune my system even better. Beside that I used FsAutostart to temporairy shutdown extra servcies / background programs. This I used for Fs9 pc's and had a very stable fast system and Fs9 was completely fluid. Now I just finished a new fast high end pc :E8500 3.16 --> 4.05 ( according to PcPilot the E8500/8600 oc gives better framerates than a quadcore series ) Asus Maximus extreme mobo4 Gb DDr 1800 OCZ Platiunum memory…

I have a E6600 duo core I have overclocked to 3.0 (333 x 9) I am running 2 gig Corsair 6400Pro which I have increased the timing to 4-4-4-12 original was 5-5-5-12. I have two questions 1. would I be better turning the multiplier down to 8 and the ram up to 400. 2. Before reading Nicks post stating you should run two sticks of 2 gig for a total of 4 gig of memory I purchased 2 additional sticks of Corsair 6400 pro for a total of 4 1gig sticks. Is it ok to run this or am I better off just staying with 2 gigs. Thanks Chuck

It's driven me nuts but I'm finally ordering my new PC this weekend. I dropped the Cosmos due to limited space. I was more limited than I originally thought. I did go for a sound card. At least having an idea of what on board sound does sound like. The speakers on my HDTV fit the idea. I enjoy the clear sound of having something dedicated too it. Besides I would like to enjoy some features that come with that. And, the 280 to 285. :) Thermaltake Element SCorsair TX-750W SLI/Crossfire CapableIntel Core i7 Processor i7-920 3.6GHz 8MBCooler Master V8GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4PSuper Talent DDR3-1600 6GB (3x2G CL9Western Digital WD3200AAKS 320GB SATA2 7200rpm 16MBWestern Digital WD6…
