Today I installed Vista 64 bit on my new computer. I also installed the latest Logitech drivers. My Driving Force Pro was installed without problems. However, when I plug in my trusty old Wingman Force the computer recognizes it (says Wingman Force is found) but it can't find drivers.... Also when I run the GameProfiler I get a message no controller is attached, while it is.Does this mean it's goodbye to my Wingman Force...? It's weird because afaik it SHOULD be working (old as it is). And Vista does recognize it...!I can fly using the XBox 360 controller I've also got attached, but that's not the same of course...

what is read by software (such as ASUS Probe II) as vCore? I notice I can set vCore to 1.35 in the BIOS, but in Probe it displays about 1.28v. What is the correct interpretation?Noel

I have used NOD32 as antivirus sw and it's time to pay a new yearly subscription. That I find very expensive. So I'm considering getting something else. What good alternatives are there? For example I have heard that NORTON is bad for FS. Is there something else I should stay away from?

Any know if you make an image of a drive using True Image and then restore it,will it restore on a file by file basis... resulting is 100% space defragged drive. Might be quicker in some cases than running multiple space defrags. For that matter I guess it may also restore in Name order too?Not talking about the sector by sector image/restore just the normal one.P.S Seagate offers a free tool, Seagate DiscWizard, based on True Image that does pretty much the same as long as you have a Seagate or Maxtor drive in the system.

I'm looking at putting a Veloceraptor in my rig just for FSX, and have read some of Nick's info regarding the use of a PCI-e controller. I don't wish to buy something that will never see any potential due to other h/w limitations in my system, but am looking for something that can beat the SATA controllers on my mobo. Hardware is Q6600 on a GA-X38T-DQ6, 4GB of Mushkin XP3-12800, video card is an NV 8800GTX/768MB.Thanks, Bruce.

Hi allIn light of the MS halt on further FS versions for now, and my ever limited budget, I've decided on the following new rig, which is primarily for FS9. I have decided to stick with FS9 for at least another year and am more than happy with the massive hanger of addons Ive assembled over the years. This is my new intendedrig which i intend to buy next week. Any comments on the assembly? Will all the bits 'talk' to each other nicely. The system is pretty dated by todays standards, but I figure it'll do me well for the next two years and has CONSIDERABLY reduced my financial outlay. Im currently running an AMD Athlon 4600 with a Geforce 7600GT. Although still okay, after…

I got a 150 Gb WD raptor SATAI as primary drive with Win XP FS9.1 and FSX. This drive is now filled about 2/3. I also use a Seagate 7200 rpm 250 Gb IDE drive which is hardly filled at all. That leads to the question where is the best place to put new stuff? Inner tracks on the fast 10000 rpm raptor or outer track on the slower 7200 rpm IDE drive? I'm for example thinking about megascenery titles. One somewhat strange result is the load time for Falcon Allied forceOn 60 Gb IDE maxtor 30 secondsOn 2*160 Gb WD raid 0 20 seconds (C:)On 150 Gb raptor 15 seconds (tracks in the niddle) (C:)On 250 Gb seagate IDE 10 seconds (outer tracks) (Raptor C: and IDE D:)Surprised me that i…

hi!I have a joystick with a twist handle- the logitech extreme 3d pro.this means i can use it for rudder to, but ive met some problems... the z axe on the joystick got too sensible and its impossible to control a plane like this...so i thought about two alternatives but didnt really manage to do anyone:1. disabling the z axe while flying and by pressing a button enabling it back (when just hit ground or something like this)...by this the sensibility wont bother me but i couldnt find a way to do this...2. i have a wheel with pedals, and i know its not the best stuff but its what i got.so i wanted to use the pedals but i found that there isnt a left right rudder axis, and e…

Hey guys. Over the last few months Nick and Jeff have assisted me in my OC. Things seemed to be find but I have had a few weird things happen recently so I decided to run an OCCT test ealier today. Posted below are the results, but being new I am not sure what I should be looking for. Except for the fact that I had some big drops in some voltgages. Attached are the pics of the results. Also ran a prime95 for about 30 min and no errors detected. I know I should probably run these tests a little longer but was running short on time tonight. I didn't post the temp results becasue they are not accurate compared to what Realtemp and my onboard PC Probe software were giving me.…

Okay, I visited a local computer shop and I'm waiting for them to give me a quote on the rig below. They don't OC. And, I'm going to get them to give me a quote with the 940 as well. So price pending and some thinking I'm wondering where to go with things here. Either the 920 or 940 i7. I'm going to likely lean on the 940 to at least play stock till I get through their warranty. It'll void out their warranty if it's done during the year it's covered. So it's till Monday to see what type of quote they give me. So just when I think I've got things hammered out...They kept trying to sell me on AMD systems though. They'll do Intel builds and think they're higher priced than …

Hi all, Im currently in the market for a new system. Currently I run a P4 2.4Ghz, 1 Gb DDR Ram, PNY 6200 GPU. I have had the afforementioned system since P4s first came out, so its been with me for quite a while now. I did briefly have a PC world purchased pc, based around a q6600, over the summer, but I had endless problems with it so took it back and got my money back.I have invested a fair bit of money in addons for fs9, and although my current pc can run fs9, it's not that enjoyable and im constantly tweaking to get a few extra frames. I would like a system that could run fs9 at its full potential and perhaps fsx with decent enough settings for it to be flyable…

I noticed on Tom's HW a review of the upcoming 55nm nVidia GTX295. Apparently it's sandwich design with 1 GPU and 2 boards linked by an SLI cable. I also noticed there's no FSX in the benchmark review this time. :( I wonder why that is? It works for other games but is the FSX performance so bad that it's not worthy? Or did it just get left out? If that card's as good as the hardware stats show (#SPs, ROPs, etc.) it should be an FSX winner.-jk

I currently have both FSX and FS 9 on my rather aged system: Windows XP 32 Bit, SP 3, AMD 64 4000 at 2.45 GHZ, 1 Gig Ram and Radeon 1300 card. This runs FS 9 pretty well but obviously it struggles with FSX. I had planned to upgrade my system after MS released the next version, FS 11. However, since it appears that FSX might be the last flight sim from MS, at least for a while, I have been thinking to upgrade now. I am looking at the following (I do not plan to over clock): ASUS P6T Deluxe, Intel i7940 Nehalem 2.93 GHz, Corsair Dominator 6GB DDR SDRAM 1600, …

My trusty 10 yr old 21" Sony trinitron CRT is on its last legs and I am looking for a new LCD monitor to replace it with. I would rather stay with a 4:3 aspect ratio, as I primarily fly 2D and don't want to hassle with resizing bitmaps, etc. I'm also on a budget and am looking to spend a max of $400.00. I've been looking at the HP LP2065 Monitor, 20" but wonder how it would perform with FS9, as the response rate seems to be on the slow side (8ns). Any thoughts?Regards, Robert

hi,I have just received my pro flight switch panel. It is a nice piece of hardware. it works fine with fsx.Be aware that it does not work with fs9 (I thought it would though it is not advertised as such...)The only problem that I have with it is that when I installed the software, it removes the previous version of the saitek software and consequently my x 45 joystick is no longer detected. Any idea how to get round this major issue?

Hi guys!Recently I have always upgraded my HW hand-in-hand with new FS releases but now after the sad news about ACES Studios and realizing it may take some time before we see the next version of FS if ever I'm thinking of upgrading my computer to be able to run FSX the way it was meant to be run.I'm thinking about buying the following stuff: Asus - Socket 1366 - ATX Intel X58 (P6T Deluxe + OC Palm) - 2xPCI-E / Audio / GbLAN - [HV] Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz / 4x256KB L2 + 8MB L3 - Socket 1366 (Boxed) - [HV] OCZ Platinum EB XTC 4096MB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz (7-6-6-24) (2x2048MB) (OCZ3P1600EB4GK) - [HV] XFX GeForce GTX285 1024MB (GX-285N-ZDFF) - PCI-E / 2xDVI-I / HDTV - [H…

Okay, with motherboards being just as good as your average soundcard these days I was thinking of getting an Omega Striker on this new system of mine. While I'm sure it won't help performance with FSX with taking some of the load off the mobo but I hear that's not the point. In the eight years I've had this current computer that old Audigy 2 got plenty of use..movies, listening to mp3s before ye'ol ipod took over that job, audio streams from local radio stations, other games, and it pretty much made my old stereo moot to the point I sold the thing. I just wonder if it's worth the $80 to even bother?

I am aware of Prime95 that offers the ultimate stress to a CPU, but am wondering what people use to calibrate their temps using CoreTemp? Is FSX a good candidate for doing this- and if so, what do you do with it- load up KLAX on a busy day with full AI and all sliders to the right? Thanks, Bruce.

Looking for recommendations to replace my P4 3 GHz computer for use with FS9. I'm on a budget so one system I've looked at is an Intel Dual core 2.0, with a 512 MB GeForce video card, XP installed for around $900. Ideas? places to go to look for such a system? Will the system do well with FS9? thanks. Mike
