I am flying what in the real world is Singapore Airlines SQ22 - the longest non-stop commercial route I believe, Singapore to New York (over the North Pole). The real-world flight uses an A340-500. My FS9 A340-500 is going to run out of fuel long before we get to NY, even though it left with tanks pretty much 100% full. Other than just adding fuel half-way via the FS9 menu bar, to make the fuel consumption more realistic, can I just change the value of fuel_flow_scalar in the aircraft.cfg file? It is at 0.500 already. If I change fuel_flow_scalar to a really low value, like 0.200, are there going to be any negative knock-on effects, or will it just decrease fuel burn …

Hello, Just reinstalling fs9 after a long break. Remembering things as I go. Opening up my old hard drive I see I'm in possession of both ActiveSky and REX. It puzzled me for a while trying to remember which one I used to use then I remembered that I used ActiveSky for weather engine and REx for the textures. Is this still a good option or have we moved on? Thanks George Edit: On this topic of textures, I have GEPRO and Flight Env. GEPRO is installed and has options for water and sky, which I havent installed, are these inferior to REX?

Another subjective question. I've been using Bird's Eye View for ground textures ever since they came out (seems like eons ago). I've been tempted to try a "new" look for good 'ol FS2004 after all these years. Have any of you had the experience of using BOTH of these products at one time or another? If so, would if be worth the rather costly expense (at least I think so) for another aged product of Ground Environment 2006. ....and NO, I don't want to get involved with Ground Environment PRO. I'm quite happy with all other textures and I just want to "set it and forget it". Don't care to spend all my time fiddling with tints and weather setups, etc. Tha…

Hi there I have recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 8 along with Nvidia GeForce GT640M graphics card & Intel HD Graphics. The problem i'm having is when i open FS9 and go to display settings i cannot select or see the Nvidia card there, Its just set to use the HD graphics, I've updated the Nvidia drivers and also changed settings in the control panel to run FS9 with Nvidia but nothing changes in FS9. I've hunted around google for tips and advice but still haven't found any answers so i thought i would try here in avsim. I have been playing around with this for FS9. I can not for the life of me get it to work. Does somebody have step by step instructions on where to put the files. I dumped them into the fs folder and it wouldn't boot since it replaced the d3dll. I then put the whole sweetfx folder in there and nothing changed even hitting scroll lock. Can somebody help try to get this thing to work. Thanks, Jeff

I use the Skyspirit CRJ-1000 and the Posky CRJ-200, 700, and 900. Can anyone recommend a good panel and sound for these planes? Thanks.

Is there a way i can disable crash detection for simulating a gear failure without the simulator doing that thing where it hits the ground and jumps back to 1000ft? Currently i can slide the aircraft down the runway with a gear failure but once it comes to a stop CRASH shows on the screen and the sim resets the flight. If i turn crash detection off, as soon as i hit the ground the plane jumps back to 1000ft AGL. I want to simulate crash landings and not have either of these occur, can it be done?

Hey Ladies and Gents, I am looking for a good payware or good quality freeware scenery of Hawaii for FS 2004. Not the landclass but the actual main airport(s) or an airport that can at least support 737. P.S. Hi! I was very annoyed and surprised that, today, I just couldn't go to TXKF Bermuda in my FS2004. Windows reported "error" and the task manager said error. Hi, I use My Traffic X (the FS9 program) for my AI. Can I use World of AI also or will they conflict with each other? Never used World of AI. Would it be better than My Traffic? I would like to have updated AI for my FS9.

I have had a problem for a while that I simply cannot seem to solve. I have been having a problem with textures taking a long time to load, both with the user aircraft seen in chase view and the virtual cockpit. It doesn't seem to happen with scenery or AI aircraft. In the case of the VC it means that when I change to VC view, every now and then, all I get is blank textures with only the instruments showing. At the same time, when I switch to external view I either get completely blank textures or in many cases, the texture for the rear part of the fuselage is blank. It usually only lasts for about 15-30 seconds. I have fiddled with my video card settings. I am using …

Constantly c.800fpm up, then similar down to maintain cruise altitude. Is this a fault in the FDE or is it fixable in aircraft.cfg or elsewhere? (I am guessing the former). Thanks.

I have had Visual Flight's London City scenery, which of course includes EGLC since it was issued. It used to be really hard on my frame rates back then but with my latest PC this isn't so much of an issue. Just wondering, is the UK2000 EGLC, 'London City Xtreme', a worthwhile purchase (bearing in mind that I am supposed to be on some sort of economy drive at the moment! Haha...) to replace the VF version of the airport (there's no London scenery in the UK2000 package, right?)? How does it compare to the Visual Flight one? I have already found instructions for making the two sceneries compatible BTW.. Opinions please... Thanks!! Martin

Hi, Trying to figure out how to remove a airline from My Traffic 2006. Started using World of AI and want to remove US Airways from My Traffic 2006. Tried the editor program but am not sure what to do.

After using GE this morning, there was continuous disk activity, and my flightsim was really slow to load textures. Apparently there is a memory leak on the latest but one version of GE, which will eventually fill up the HDD and render the computer useless. It writes to: C:\Documents and Settings\*YourName*\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\GoogleEarth\unified_cache_leveldb_leveldb2 Mine had grown to 40 GB when I uninstalled GE and restarted the computer. Apparently this is a known issue, and will be patched. GE stays off my computer until I know for sure. Remember to save the My Places kml file if you have one.

Many of my FS9 (pax) jets have their sounds aliased to one of them which has my preferred sounds. You would then expect that their sound volumes would always be (more or less) the same in each of them. However, the differences range from "normal" to extremely soft, giving rise to the idea that these differences are somehow aircraft specific, but there seems to be nothing in any aircraft,cfg or .air file which could be related to aircraft specific sound volumes. It makes no difference when such aircraft sounds are "un-aliased" and all of them use direct copies of the preferred sound folder. Default ATC sound volumes can also differ widely. Ideas anyone ? Hi All I am trying to merge the PA Airbus's with Wilco panel's and I'm happy with the results so far except, I need to make pitch adjustments for the "AOA" to the A321 and A380 in level flight and on approach . Can any body tell me which elements have to be changed within the aircraft CFG to get the pitch angle I want. Currently the A321 is a little too nose up and the A380 a little too nose down. I'm using Wilco's flap settings so they display properly in the panel at the moment but of coarse they dont work as well as the original PA flap settings. Can the angle at which the virtual cockpit eyepoint looks by default be adjusted? I have adjusted the default x,y,z coordinates for the view but still have to use the hat switch to look "down" to the instruments every time i press space. Any insight?

I tried to update my Ultimate Traffic but it's not working. I left it for an hour a few weeks ago and when I came back it still said searching for updates, please wait. I'm still running the basic install with no updates so there is no American Airlines. I heard the update gives you AA but the updater is not working. Anybody else having problems updating UT?

I have updated American's 777's, 737's, 757's, 767, and American Eagle ERJ's in FS9 and I must say the new livery has grown on me. Seeing airports populated with this livery in FS looks good now if that makes since. It looks modern, works well on newer aircraft, and has a loosely modeled flag on the tail. I hated the livery at first but it looks nice now for some reason. I can see where the attempt was made to keep much of the old (Eagle, Bare Metal essence, and fuselage stripe which is now all on the tail) the exception being the AA logo. The livery looks nice for some reason now. I hate when things have to grow on you versus hitting you right when you first see it …

Dear readers! Are some of you using Supression vortices witch accually is a very nice tool for fs9 and make the approach much more realistic. But I have problem using it with some airplanes like Pmdg (get no vortices) and Posky b744 v4 (only see vortices on the left wing). Is someone that can give me good advice to solve this problem?
