Crash To Desktop (CTD) Forum

CTD's are a simmer's nightmare. This subforum is established to specifically discuss CTD's. Please do not place CTD messages in the main FSX, FS9, or P3D forums. If you do, they will most likely be moved to this forum.

I get a high rate of CTD on start up when I choose an airport by typing the Code in. The map will zoom in quickly to the airport, the nthe sound stops and I get CTD. I did fid if I run a Landing Challenge first, then ytr to goto the same airport I don't get a CTD. Anyone get this CTD? If so - what do I do??

Good evening everyone, I found a strange problem departing from EDDM out of RW26R via INPUD2N. My next Waypoint after INPUD was supposed to be ALIBU. However, about 23 miles south of ALIBU the MSFS crashes every time. I've tried it 5-6 times with different settings. It's always the same point, no matter if I disable GSX (coatl), disable FS2crew, disable 3rd party airports, take the fenix A320 or even with the standard A320neo with MSFS in safe mode. There must be a certain point which triggers the MSFS to crash. Here's an excerpt from the last crash in safe mode: Spoiler 9/3/2023 7:00 PM Application Error Faulting appl…

Hi everyone! As the title already states I've honestly been grasping in the dark in regards to finding a solution to the CTD's I'm having that are leaving no trace anywhere. Therefore I would like to reach out to the this forum to see if anyone has any tips or things I could try. Below I've noted down my PC specification and also the list of addons I'm using. Generally my short haul flights are fine, but when crossing the atlantic towards the west I usually get a crash when closing in on land again. As I said I don't have any logs as the sim just closes and no crash dump is provided. PC Specs: Windows 11 i5 13600KF (Base speed) AMD RX6800…

I just upgraded to an RTX3060 from an RTX2060. Now getting consistant CTD's. Sim will crash less than 100 miles into the flight. I have reinstalled the current nvidia driver. I even used DDU to uninstal the original. I've run the sim with the community folder empty using the default A320. Still crashes. Not sure what to check next. The only thing that changed was the GPU. The 2060 ran the game flawlessly. Thanks for the replies in advance.

  5. This has happened in the same spot on two different machines now. About halfway between LAX and Sydney FS crashes with a Failed To Read From File error. This would happen every time on my old computer and I just tried it on the computer I just bought and it happened again. Any suggestions?

Hi I'm trying to ask here and I really hope this is the place on the site in general and on the topic within the forum in particular! I'm quite discouraged after trying to get advice or a solution in all kinds of places, but maybe someone will be kind enough to comment: after a power outage in my home area, the simulator refuses to start.. both in safe mode and in normal mode (infinite attempts to restart the computer or the simulator) 😕 .. what is the right thing to do.. is a certain file corrupted/deleted? Deleting and reinstalling the entire simulator? Thanks from the bottom of my heart for any advice or reference!

  8. After 9 yrs operating FSX Accelleration with little trouble, installed Airport Design Editor then FSX failed to start next time with message 'unable to load some program files...' Tried Repair without success and eventually went back to base FSX which worked. Installed SP1 OK and it worked. Installed SP2 and same error message. Tried re-installing and repairing several times and am now at a complete loss how to move forward and get it back. Cheers for any insight. Vincent

  11. Alright lads here is what I had to be dealing with for the last 6 months, with the past week being the most catastrophic. Fsx steam crashes to desktop with different causes simultaneously, with these 2 DLL files causing me and my best friend major headaches (which he gave up so I'm on my own). Hi everyone, Since today I've been getting a "0xc0000005" error on startup. Yesterday I actually did a succesful flight and didn't run into any problems. However, after booting today the sim won't boot anymore. I've been diving onto google to find any solutions, but not luck yet. Event Viewer doesn't give me any information and just shows the error. I do have to mention that on first boot the drive where P3D is installed somehow failed and Windows had to correct it. Now it's running normally, but the sim won't boot anymore. What I've tried to do: - Re-install P3D v5 client. - System Restore Point to yesterdays working state. - DDU GPU drivers &amp…

Hi, Lately I've been getting CTDs with API.dll as the faulting module. I've read that the main cause is an issue or error related to memory. I tried monitoring my VAS remaining using FSUIPC and I never ran out of VAS. So in my attempt to find the possible cause I loaded up a flight like I normally do, with Process Monitor running in the background. Applications that run during my flights are: -Active Sky 2016 -REX Sky Force 3D -vPilot -littlenavmap -vroute I even got the CTD without ANY programs running in the background, on various aircraft. According to Process Monitor my FSX crashed when it was trying to read the "kernel32.dll" file un…

Been playing msfs for years without any problems or system crashes. Now, all of a sudden this morning the sim loaded then CTD. What I have done so for is made sure all my drivers were up to date and all drivers are up to date. Don't seem to have any problems with windows as it is up to date. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  17. Hi, I have FS2020 (physical disc version) installed on a separate 256 SSD (drive G). The SSD was almost full so I cloned it to a 500Mb SSD. Windows loaded fine and could see the drive (still G). Went to disk mgt and extended the portion so I now have c200GB free space. However when I try and launch FS I get the error "Microsoft Flight Simulator can’t open because it is offline. The storage device might be missing or disconnected." The drive is accessible, I'm connected to the internet and have Disc 1 of FS in the dvd drive. Google has lots of things but mainly linked to xbox and ms store. I've followed some of them: - updated all apps in MS Store …

  18. Hi I recently installed my Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo hardware with the default drivers in MSFS. I read online that I needed to install the Honeycomb drivers in order for the LED lights to work on the Honeycomb bravo, so I downloaded them from Honeycomb's website and installed them. Now MSFS won't boot pas the initial screen... I tried everything....can I uninstall the drivers? I don't see how, any other fix? Thanks to all the community...NO MORE FLIGHT SIM 😞 Fred

I was suffering random CTD. There was no pattern or commonality, but I could run for maybe 45 minutes to an hour max before getting a CTD. After trying many things, I finally found the culprit for me. I have 64gb of DDR4-3600 RAM. I underclocked the RAM to 3400, and haven't had a CTD since, about 4 or 5 days.

  24. So after a couple of Windows updates I have had multiple CTD's across 2 sim platforms. Event Viewer didn't show much other than dropped Internet Connections.. Weird as I have 1.5 Gig connection with no latency, jitter or drops. Lots of Event Errors I had never seen before. Then while searching last night I came across this: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/raptor-lake-motherboard-ethernet-flaw Sure enough I am on a series 7 Motherboard on the 2.5Gb port. I searched this morning and had a bunch of 27 and 32 Event errors. This may also explain why I keep "dropping" my MSFS Server connections despite Internet being up in the house... I've blamed MS…
