ok i know this isnt perfect, lol its only my first try at re-creating rivets and the creases / lines. this pic is just a pic of 1 wing, and all i did was copy the layers and paste them to a new solid background so i didnt have to flatten any of my layers etc to show this. i just want some feed back on how it looks so far. i have completed the entire p-51 with rivets and the creases. ive been using an existing texture as a template to trace over rivet locations etc but still thats a LOT of hand painted rivets and lines lol. anyway like i said i know its not perfect, but all my little mess ups seem to fade away when "multiply" is used on their layer. all im looking for is a…

Hi!I am in the middle of the process of repainting Baunton's Huey into a Swedish Airforce Hkp3. I seem to remember reading a very positive review of this model, written by a real Huey Pilot who gave it a lot of praise for it's realistic flight dynamics. Does this ring a bell for anyone?ThanksRoger

I would like to resize all the PAI textures down to 50% their size.I'm planning to use a batch command and imagetool to convert *all* my PAI aircrafts to standard TGA files; open them, scale by 50% and save them in protoshop again as tga. Then a batch command again to reconvert them into dxt1 format. In the process I would like to gain as much performance as possible, by converting them to dxt1, and no mips.Reading the forum, though, I found out somebody had a problem with propellers and dxt1 textures.would you bother splitting the lot into 2 categories, and use 2 batch commands, one for propellered aircrafts (which I'll convert to dxt3) and the other for jet aircrafts (wh…

We are a small group off pilots, some of us Real World right up to 744 level. That like to fly on line together, we are not a VA.Our base aircraft that we use are the more complex one's like the P.M.D.G 737s.What we do need is a great paint job on them.So if any of you Painters would like to let your imagination run free and show your talents off then give me a P/M.You could get also real world tuition on how in fly these aircraft. I don't have much experience in repainting. I've only done a couple of them using PSS A319/20/21 paintkits and, so far, I can handle it quite well. Now, I'm trying to repaint the PSS A332 and the paintkit does not work the same. Does anybody have an idea, experience or tutorial about this specific paintkit?... I would like to know how it works. I checked PSS web site and there's nothing for the A330/40's... just a very simple guide for the A320'sAny help will be highly appreciated. Thanks,

Hey Guys, I'm trying to repaint a new logo onto the side of the 2K2 default 747. I know that it is single sided but I am just going to use it for a promo screenshot taken from the port side. However there is a "Decal" texture ( decal_b747_400 ) which displays the default airline logo " World Travel Airlines ". I have tried several different ways to prevent it from displaying but at the moment the decal logo text still shows through my new text as a reflextive texture. Is there a way to not have the decal texture show? Thanks

  11. I'm a complete newbie at repainting, so here goes.I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly, but everytime I edit the texture_i'm_doing.bmp, I need to exit FS, then restart FS and choose the aircraft to see the new texture reflected in the sim. Is there anyway to load the new texture without reloading the program? TIA

I'm no pro but think I have done a decent job on some repaints but the biggest frustration to me is when I put in a lot of work on details, lets say rivets, panel lines, or stipes, and I load my paint into fs to take a look. Then when I reload to work on other things or correct something there are different color pixils around my rivets or along contrasting paint lines. Anything I can do to prevent this? JohnnyV

Hallo I am Christopher and I am working on my First repaint LRJ45(default)to Aegean Airlines Virtual colors(GR),there is also the real one. My problem is that the belly line it self, from the middle to the rear part of the aircraft turns up and up(check the default FS9 LRJ45 with the gold belly).so what happens here is that my lines that I have paint is'nt smooth if I can say, when the user zooms near to the aircraft,he can clearly see the mist, you know some pixels that they don't look very nice!I have try out to correct it pixel to pixel again but the resault was't the best I think! Is there a trik or a technic here to do the thinks right? I have also the problem …

Hi PeopleI have recently purchased fs repaint but also have jasacs photo suite.Having played around a little I am after some tips.1. Is there a way of overpainting without loosing the details such as the panel lines and rivets?2. Whats the most common way of painting a livery, is it to get a photo and cut and paste or is it best done by hand?3. Whats the average time it takes to do a basic repaint? (I appreaciate this can be difficult to put a time on but lets say a 737 in BA colours) (this will make me feel better as i am working on one that has so far taken 4 weeks)4. What is the best way to make a paint scheme look dirty? Thanks in advance for the advice it is really ap…

Hi guys,I downloaded a Posky 757 repainted in Air Astana colours, however I am not too happy with the tailfin textures.Rather than sit around and moan, I thought I'd have a stab at re-doing them myself. I have got some source photos of real Air Astana tail fins, however I could use some tips on how to "deal" with them. What tool do I use to "cut" them out in PSP 7 and how is the best way to size them and place them over the existing textures (I only need to do the tail, so will just re-use the textures from the download.).Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.

How do I keep my image from creating mipmaps when I paint a plane. What seems to be happening is that I save the aircraft after painting with ImageTool or DXTbmp and the sim seems to load fine with the plane but as soon as I change the weather or location the skin blurs. I go back to ImageTool and check the image and I notice it now has 9-11 mipmaps produced.

Hi guys! I am using psp 9 and the FSD porter paint kit and am having a problem(I am new to painting). I have made a layer to put the base colors on and it is right beneathe the detail layer. The detail layer seems to have all white in the area where I would want to paint, so when I put on base color it is not visible through the white..I can adjust the slider on the detail layer so that I can see the red underneath(actually pink) but then I lose my details less details=more red, more details=light pink, etc. I am sure there is something really simple to handle this, how do you make everything that is white transparent on the detail layer?..but I could use some help..Thank…

Hey All,Despite seeing that LOTR repaint of a "heavy" (beautiful job BTW) in the screenshots forum I am thinking of moving ahead with learning to repaint. I have down loaded Pixia and it appears to be a completely capable program for repaints and it's free! The challenge is how do I get from textures to Pixia? Pixia does not import targa with alpha (even though Pixia does support alpha channels). So what to do? Use dxtbmp and export textures and alpha to what? I guess I can export the alpha channel to a file and the texture bmp to another but then recombining them in Pixia - I'm not sure if I can do that? I suspect I have the same problem going from Pixia to an aircraft te…
