Just started repainting using DTXBMP and Paint Shop Pro 9.0... it is a LOT of fun! My biggest problem to date is porting the alpha channel from PSP to DTX however. Is there any inherent problem that is known about the current versions of all these programs working together to get alpha channels where they are supposed to be??Randy Jura, KPDX

HiHope someone can help me. I want to convert my aircraft textures to DXT3 format. I know how to do this using DXTBMP but was hoping someone could tell me which are the external textures I need to convert as in each texture folder there are around 72 textures. I have the level d aircraft and all the textures were already DXT3 format and I noticed a big improvement with fps where as at the moment the PMDG textures are a great fps hogger. This will be my first attempt at this.Thanks in advance for any advice or help given.Regards

I recently downloaded Cyril Breton's "Soaring Spirit" 777 repaint from the Avsim library. It's a nice repaint, but I noticed that the logo on the #2 engine nacelle is mirror-image reversed. Is there a simple fix for this? I know absolutely nothing about painting aircraft. I downloaded the DXTBmp converter program, and I do have Photoshop.

I understand how and why it is beneficial to FS9 performance to convert your 32bit textures to DXT3.My question is however:Should I convert ALL my 32bit textures in an aircraft to get the maximum performance gain? I obviously convert my outside textures (fuselage, etc), but should I convert panels, etc, if they are also 32bit? Will I see any extra performance gain?Thanks in anticipationMalcolm

I am doing an American Airlines repaint of the RFP. I am stuck at the tail, mainly because the templates in the PK containing the tail have no layers, and therefor I don't know how to add the lines and dirt.Anyone knows how can I do?Thanks,Leo

I did my first repaint yesterday... Pretty neat.I'm pretty good with Photoshop (CS), so I set-up FS Repaint to use it as an external editor. It loaded the textures OK to PS, and after I did an edit, it saved O.K. back to FS Repaint (as a temp file for it's use there), but FS Repaint would not recognize any change in the viewer. Further, then when I finally saved it back to the FS9 program (when finished in FS Repaint), it warned of a permanent change, but nothing changed.Everything worked fine on the FS Repaint internal editor however, and all changes showed-up and saved OK. I just started to repaint a C90 and it looks nice and sharp in FSrepaint when I demo it. When I load it into FS it is very blurry. I am probably making a very common mistake, but alas I do not know what it is.My processes:1.Convert DXT3 to bmp usinc convim2.Open BMP in photoshop, make my changes3.Make file into indexed color, not RGB4.save as BMP at 8-bit all others grayed outThanks!

Hi all,I am warning you all now I am completely new to painting so bear with me. I downloaded FSrepaint demo as a viewer (thanks for the tip btw) and tried changing a texture via Photoshop. One thing I notice that other textures have "Have Transperancy" checked under info except from my PS modified file. Is this important? If so what does it do and how do I fix it?Thanks!!

I just can not get a nice clear/sharp finish in my paintings just like painting from PSS (for example). I don't know what's happening... I don't know if it's matter the quality of painting programs (I use PSP 9.01), the 24/32 bit convesion program (I use DXTBmp), some tips I sould know or some tricky steps I'm missing... I really don't know what's happening and it's making me scratch my head very hard. ok im currently working on a new paint scheme idea for my next set of repaints. what im asking of the painters community is if anyone out there has a good repaint kit. what im looking for is something with some layers it doesnt have to be quite as good as the beech baron repaint kit by chris klein and bob hayes, but something similar as far as rivets etc having their own layer. ive tried over and over and over and over and just cant seem to seperate a lot of the fine details lol and i kinda stink at shading over for that effect as well. practice makes perfect yes, but at the same time i would really like to get these mustangs done without getting burned out on practicing.…
