The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum

Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
  • Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
  • Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.
  1. Back in MSFS, so that I don't forget how to use it! I wanted to check out a bunch of freeware airports from the .to site. These pix are from Audley End, which is maybe ten minutes north of Stansted. I know the area as my sister lives around there, and I've driven past Audley End house many times (well, I've seen the signs for it but can't say I've ever been aware of the actual property or airstrip. The same author has done a bunch of other airfields and I downloaded them all but haven't tried them all yet. I suspect I'll be going back and making a suitable donation tomorrow, this and the one other I have seen are very nice. You can get EGTS here - https://flightsim.to/fil…

  2. From the same guy that produced Audley End as seen in my previous post, here is another lovely little airstrip in Essex - Clacton (EGSQ - https://flightsim.to/file/55625/clacton-airfield-egsq) Looks pretty bare initially but when you get up the other end it's packed with really nice detail, and all the critters, including the people, are animated so a wonderful place to just wander around It all has a really nice "lazy Sunday afternoon" vibe to it So while we're here, let me introduce you to Clacton town itself. Not a big place, but nicely modelled in MSFS Candy Floss and whelks probably available …

  3. I took the Wilga out again, and was just looking around on the worldmap to see where I fancied checking out next. Looking for small, isolated farm type strips. Spotted EGH2 up near Doncaster and thought I'd try it out. Looked really nice, and was obviously either free or payware (rather than default), but the odd thing was I had no record of it on my spreadsheet. Which would mean I'd grabbed it but not documented it, and that is pretty much unheard of as I have to be fairly meticulous with such things as I have so many addons (literally thousands). So I checked my scenery folders for it. And nothing there either. So now I'm really intrigued. Long story short, it turn…

  4. Started by WingZ,

Saw this scenery referenced somewhere and was intrigued. It's inexpensive and beautifully made, and allows you to fly to the horizon in a fully custom environment. So we start our little tour at St. Mary's airport with a nice early cuppa, the Wilga prepped and waiting outside. Runway 32 is an up-and-over, the Wilga doesn't require the -over part and just gets going We do a sweep over the old town, the harbour and Oliver's Battery, all very nicely crafted. To the NW, Appropriately named Round Island has a beautifully made lighthouse, one of 3 in the area. Should you fly here toward evening the rotating light will periodically light up …

This is primarily for @bernd1151 re your request as to the state of the 747 VC. Here's a bunch of shots, and as I was in there I took a look round the rest of the aircraft as well. This is the "old" XP11 aircraft, not the new 747-200 I just got. I waved the mouse across the panels, a lot of things look like they work but a lot don't. I, of course, wouldn't know! Looks like the basic model must have been United, and the PanAm skin hasn't touched the interior.

  11. A quick tour round one of my favourite places (sim and real life) in the default S-76. Have just found that there's a free XP12 upgrade version of one of my other helis so I'll try that later. Meanwhile - enjoy! Waiting to lift, at the cargo terminal area Actually a payware KSFO, but I'll come back and do a tour of that later Off to the city As you know, I'm a big fan of IFR flying in XPlane <grin> The roads and particularly the traffic are streets ahead (can I say that?) of MSFS Yeah, yeah, I know it's a flight sim, but c'mon! I assume that's TrueEarth's SF city stuff down there. Thought tthat must be dodgy modelling in …

  12. Definitely one of my favourite places in the sim, been several times in RL (we had a training facility in Orange County), enjoyed every visit but wouldn't want to live there. And in sim terms, I've always felt XP and TrueEarth, plus many and various little freeware VFR addons, just can't be beat, and I still think that's probably true for me, even though the MSFS version is very nice as well. You won't be surprised to hear that it's the road and track network that makes it so special in XP for me. Anyhoo, a few from a flight that I had to stop for time reasons, but I will be back to explore a lot more. (excuse the annoying little menu arrow on the left of t…

  13. Yet more XP stuff. Out of KCLE, which is a free offering from a payware company (TWD) and comes with its own ortho tile. And I think that's what's being shown here but I need to double check (the instructions are a bit unclear, to me at least). Either way, whatever is showing up here, whether it's TWD's tile or SImHeaven and VSim's ortho, it's looking pretty fine. Messed around with a bit of pushback and taxiing this time. but that's all a bit boring so let's get out of here! turning east now Spotted this strip as I was flying over, can't remember what it's called, but thought I'd tu…

  14. So, just grabbed the Wilga half price in a sale, the KABQ is from Short Final Designs (MisterX) and is a bring-over from XP11 that seems to work fine, and the background scenery is the SimHeaven and Vsim Ortho combination. So not TrueEarth quality, like the SFO stuff I've posted recently, but to my eyes, perfectly acceptable. So starting with a few around the airport From what I remember, MisterX originally did (does?) a bunch of pretty fine freeware airports, but then started to sell upgraded versions as Short Final Designs. I have a few of these and they're all pretty good. Not sure if the townscape as here is …

  18. Last batch for today. Out of a rather fine freeware Palm Springs (XP11 but ok) en route for KONT, the XP version of their recent and very splendid MSFS product. Actually the XP version is the original and is supposedly XP11, but again, works fine here. All over the very fine TrueEarth SoCal, along what has always been one of my favourite routes in any sim. This first set takes a look around KPSP and then heads off towards KONT, but the arrival will follow in a later set. We start waiting to go on the runway, but than have a look round the airport And this is freeware (on the .org forums) And away. I've been to Pa…
