The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum

Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
  • Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
  • Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

  6. So I flew in to Barcelona today from Nice Côte d'Azur. A short hop and a very pleasant one in the mighty 747-8i. Arriving at El Prat I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort and the facilities. Want to hang out in the terminal watching planes arrive and depart? Latin VFR got you covered! 😁 Want to spend some time in a jetway, inspecting the awesome Queen of the Skies up close? No worries, Latin VFR has this and many other fun features at Barcelona Intl sorted out for you. Perhaps chill out for a while before departing for your next destination, talk to some other travellers or pilots? No problem! 😅 So why don't you hop into your favourite airliner and visit this iconic…

  7. The 747 is not the best airliner in MSFS. It's got lots of bugs and shortcomings, and VNAV can be a nightmare. When things fall into place however, it's great fun to fly. I usually disconnect both AP and AT around 1000' AGL to get a feel for the airplane before landing. Also I'm using the Salty Simulations 747-8 Mod which can be found here: https://github.com/saltysimulations/salty-747 The awesome 747 City of London livery is available here https://flightsim.to/file/5030/boeing-747-8-british-airways-city-of-london Not to forget - there is an absolutely awesome freeware version of Gatwick that IMO is better than most payware airports. It can be found here https:/…

One of those 'start 10 miles out' approaches that didn't have the engines set up correctly so I barely made it. At least having 4 engines gives you some options!😀 T45 (P3D v4.5)

  9. Ok, so, I've been playing around at the China Zun in Beijing, and then I remembered seeing a video some time back of someone landing one of the Cubs on the Statue of Liberty island in a headwind, pretty much as if it had been a Harrier. And it sparked a thought of pure idiocy. So, here I am in the Carbon Gravel, having set off from ZBNY, wearing my best Jack Nicholson grin, heading for the China Zun. Well, I figure if the worst comes to the worst, it's only pixels, right? The tricky bit (hah!) will be that the actual hard surface is elevated a good few feet off the visual surface of the helipad, as I discovered on my previous visits in the H135 and Bell 47.…

  12. Got myself the NZA Simulations Hobart and Cambridge pair of airports (still on a deal at their own site, rather than full price at Orbx). Very impressive work, if a little heavy on frames. The combination of the detail in these airports and the quality of the surrounding landscape makes for a wonderful area to pootle around in with something like the Carbon Cubs or the H136/Bell 47 etc. Here's a few from an afternoon's wandering around with the drone Scenery has certainly come a long way the last few years.

  15. The 3-engined airplanes are quite fascinating. The so-called "Trimotors" were some of the very first 3-engined transport aircraft in the world....way before, the world came to know of the 727, Trident, Tristar etc....Trijets... I found this new Ford Trimotor upload file today, in the library. The first Ford Trimotor had flown on June 11, 1926. [Side Note: Ford's highly successful Model-T automobile was introduced in 1908.] Ford Trimotors' (all-metal) structural principles were inspired by the (pioneering) work of Professor Hugo Junkers, whose (3-engined) Junkers 52 also comes to mind, here, that flew first time, later, on 13 October 1930. The Ford Trimotor resembled …

OK, I probably got your attention with my title...🙂...but, there is some truth to this title. About the legendary C-130 Hercules, I was reading, today, an on-line article, which started like this, "Who wanted to build a stubby turboprop cargo aircraft at the dawn of the jet age?"...Well...that was no other than the legendary aircraft maker that may not have sustained its commercial line aircraft production, but, surely, in addition to its prestigious (modern) line of fighter jets, their Constellation and Tristar will be forever remembered, in the annals of aviation, as two of the most iconic and most elegant airliners, ever been produced by any airplane maker...! Whe…

I like to dig around looking for rare or unusual liveries & that is how I stumbled upon the Historic Jetliners Group, (HJG). Over the years they have produced a wide range of freeware aircraft & liveries for FSX & earlier versions of MFS, focused on the early jetliners, such as the DC-8's, Boeings & Tristar. A backgrounder on them is here: https://www.avsim.com/home/articles/hjg-biggest-ever-21st-anniversary-update-r6169/ There website with Forums & Downloads is here: https://simviation.com/hjg/main.htm The downloads come in the form of a "Base" aircraft D/L, to which you can add Panels & Sounds specifically created f…
