This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Hello there, This may have been brought up before, I am not sure, and I got bored searching the Fly! Forums via the search feature. Here is the question; How do I put files into a POD? Pete Sterling suggested POD Explorer, does anyone know where I can find this program? Thanks,

Because I seem to be forever adding and changing things, like taxiways or ramp areas.Maybe I'm not doing things the right way, but after making a change I delete the old project files excepts for the image from TM. I have noticed TM apparently doesn

AllenI have noticed that during installation TM extracts database information. This occasionally leads to TM not finding the latest data because it has been updated via DEX imports, such as adding a new airport. In order to avoid reinstalling TM to obtain this info, would it be possible to add a search feature to look for updated data. Kind of drives you crazy, when TM says no such airport. :-jumpy :-wave

Can anyone help me with this one?I have the European version of FLYII and have updated with all patches (Update 4 and the unsupported exe update)Whenever I try to load a texture image with the inbuilt scenery slicer it gets as far as the first stage (creating a bunch of ACT and RAW files) but then crashes with an error (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at address something or other, Winrun.cpp, line 152).Before you ask, I am using targa 24-bit uncompressed textures. I have tried both with my own texture files, and files created by Terrascene.Has anyone had this problem and solved it?Thanks for any helpBen

All,I've modified the CLE taxiways twice using TAXIWAY.EXE and the changes are picked up in TM2.2 but not within FLY!2 itself. (see attached picture)I'm running on WIN98SE with 512MB ram, FLY!2 is patched to 2.1.230I've tried the taxiways unpodded (in DATA) and podded (POD & SCF in SceneryShared; not in data). The response file is grabbing the files:podFilename:TMCLE.PODvolumeName:TMCLEcompany:copyright:TerraModels 2002comment:CLE scenery by TerraModelsmountPriority:999DATACLE.BGRDATACLE.TMSDATACLE.TXPAny ideas? Thanks!

I have been trying now for a couple of days now to get Terrascenery to work. I read and followed instructions explicitly. I am trying render a 40 X 40 square mile of area. I followed the instructions on Ken Salters site as how to setup for rendering purposes. The first time I ran it it seemd to have almost completed the process and was at stage 4 of 4 on the day render. It had just started to write to disk some targa files and froze up. So I had little choice but to reboot, becuase of no keyboard response at all. When system booted up scandisk started up and told me that there was a invalid long Dos filename. That I needed to run Scandisk for Windows. This I did and it fo…

Gentleman, I'm making progress on this soon to be release dll (Multiple views of FLY! in a LAN synchronize). I've created a custom camera to display a particular heading which you will deside by setting the fly.ini. However, the camera losses the options to be zoomed or change the pitch. Of course, I could also provide this settings in the ini but I was wondering if there was another way? Also, I would like to find out who will be interesed on running this dll before release. Thanks in advance,Luis [email protected]

All,I've uploaded Shannon before I really tested it extensively. I'm in the process of modifying it to lower the poly's and other things. When I try to change the Object Placement Properties from NORMAL to COMPLEX, this change will not save. I have quite a few Salsa models that I'd like to have come on when COMPLEX scenery is chosen, but not under NORMAL.Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

I am finishing up a missing airport for Fly!II - it's the first airport I'll be placing that has pilot-controlled lighting. I took a "guess" as to the DB settings, but so far it's no joy. Does anyone have experience with the appropriate settings? Here's what I've tried so far:1) Set up Unicom in COM to allow for radio activation2) Airport.DBD - Set Airport Lighting Control=8 (Radio Controlled)3. Runway.DBD - Runway Light System=6 (Medium Intensity Edge)4. Runway.DBD - Runway Pilot Controlled Lighting=1 (Yes)I fired up the sim and transported to the airport. With the above settings, I get no lighting at all: set Unicom in the COM radio and tapped the Backspace Key (Mic) 5 t…

For sometime there has been a source of coloured aerial pics available to maunfacture UK scenery and I have produced a couple of composite aerial photos by joining together the 1:25000 pics on the MultiMap site.If you take a look at http://www.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?clie...59&gridn=431817you'll see Finningley RAF base at the scale I'm using 1:25000 which is just a little bigger than Fly!s so a re-scaling is needed. The 'Navigate' control on the left side allows 'jumping' to the next available pic and when you select 'Save Picture as' (by 'right-clicking' on the pic) a unique ID is given.the ref used (ie X467000Y399000) relates to a metre scale (ie 1000 metres betwe…

I know many of you wouldn't bother yourshelves to even read a post dealing with fly!'s scenery instead of fly!2's scenery. However fly!2 doesn't offer (if I'm wrong let me know) the possibility of creating TEXTURED scenery at better than 7.5 m/pixel resolution whereas fly! does via the use of detail tiles. So as you can see in order to create sharp 1m/pixel photorealistic scenery I have no choice but to use fly!. So please do read a post titled "Detailed tiles for ultra-high resolution scenery" I send a few minutes ago and if you think you can give me some information on the detail files creation procedure or suggest a web page that has that information, do that. Regardin…

Can anyone help? I am running Fly2 patched to version 230. As I am currently training in the real world at Jandakot(YPJT) airport, Perth, Western Australia, I use the excellent capabilities of Fly2 to supplement that training. However it appears that the runways for Jandakot have had a brain scramble. Runways 06L/24R & 06R/24L have swapped around i.e. 06L appears to the right of 06R! I don't know whether this is due to a bug/error in Fly2 or something has happened during my many updates and downloads.I have Terramodels 2.1 which contains the utility Runwayfix.exe, and apparently allows editing of runways and updates the Runway.pod file, however no matter how I tr…
