hello, i'm working on a photoreal scenery of LTBW and surroundings for FS2004. LTBW, hezarfen is a small ga airfield in istanbul.i've completed the earth texture, the water masks, and i've adjusted the coastline for the original texture to meet up with the photoreal texture. then i have edited the airport AFCAD file so that it fits right on the texture.when i moved the airport, i noticed that the land is not flat on the new position. as you can see on the attachment, the runway sits on an uneven ground. i have an addon mesh for the whole country.i try make a flatten polygon, but everytime i apply it, there's no change.. how can i solve this problem?thanks, Tuna

Hello to all, I am first going to state my intentions. I have never built a FS2004 scenery before. I have gone threw many tutorials but i am still confused of what programs or where to start.1. My plan is to construct a CYOW scenery for FS2004.2. I want to start with Photo-Real terrain from images. (I would like to start with this and the AFCAD lights etc.)3. Then go on to making/placeing 3d objects or buildings in the scenery. (When i get better at 3d modeling with Gmax or other programs)Any imput would be useful. I want to work hard on this as this will be my first attempt.Although i have read many tutorials from various sites and forums, i am still lost at this point. …

Hello, first let me state I am not a scenery designer but I figured this would be the right forum to place this in. I use alot of graphical add ons such as GEX and UTX but even when just using default textures or landclass I have found that the huge hydroelectric dams of the pacific northwest as well as elswhere are simply missing. Massive structures like Dworshak Dam which is much larger in size/mass (although not quite as tall) than Hoover Dam is missing completely. Represented by a thin strech of dirt/earth that makes it look like an un-naturally formed lake.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dworshak_DamSame goes for Grand Coulee Dam and others presumably everywhere?I sure…

Hello, I have Instant Scenery 1.04, and it works great adding buildings and trees, but I was wondering if there is a utility that will allow you to remove a default tree. On the approach to Fort Myers Airport, Florida, runway 13, there is a tall tree sticking up in the glidepath.. It's not there in real life.. Some small bush strips you'd expect trees around the airport making for difficult approaches, but not major airports.. So is there something out there that would remove this? Or swap it with a bush?

Can anyone point me to a list of what type of objects are "housed" in each of the scenery layers?I know, for instances, that bridges are in layer 7.At one time I had fairly complete list but can't seem to lay my hands on it now.I am wanting to exclude some particular items (Light poles and Telephone poles) using SBuilder but need to know what layer such things would be on.EDIT added: I should have mentioned that this is for FS2004.Any thoughts will be much appreciated. :(

  6. In my earlier post I descibed my bleed-through issues. After trying with bgl file after bgl file, I finally found out that it is caused by the many water hydro polygons that are connected to each other. For my coastline of 60 km's ( 36 miles ) I made 6 parts. When I take out the hydro polygons immedialtely next to my "problem" waterpolygon , the bleed-through issue is over.First I only wanted to do 10 km's of coastline, but bit by bit I extended it to now 60 km's. To be sure I now am going to make 1 hydro polygon for the coastline.Unfortunatley That will be a lot of work.....

Hi,Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere,Ive recently started to design my own new airports, ive been using 'Flight Simulator Scenery Creator' to flatten and AFCAD v2.21 to design the airports.I can get ground ATC from parking to runway and full ATC when take off and during flight, but when I land at the airports, im not given any options for parking, ive setup 'tower', 'ground', and 'Clearence' in the comm frequencies. Any ideas would be appreciated.Dave.

Hello,I just made a small modification to my web page "Exploring Google Maps for Flight Simulator". It works as before but now you can also start it using an URL like this:http://www.ptsim.com/sbuilder/gmaps.asp?La....471&Lon=-0.458Note the arguments Lat=51.471&Lon=-0.458. If you try it you will be placed in Heathrow, London, UK. You can change the Lat/Lon for the place you are interested in. I suggest that you save the link of the web page in your desktop for repeated operation. You can even save the file itself, in which case you do not need www.ptsim.com to be on the air (although you need it, if you want the larger new window).I hope this information is useful…

Hi,I am not new to aviation by any means, not that new to flight simming either. I am new to scenery. My friends and family who I fly with think my scenery is worth uploading to AVSIM. I am cautious, I would like to see more than a few people find that it works for them. Having seen floating objects in scenery I have downloaded.Would anyone be interested in trying out some of the seaplane bases and airfields I have created just to see if they have sunk or are hovering out there somewhere? Thanks,WillCanFliteSim

Hey guys back again with 3 quick questions.1. When using ADE with it connected to FSX, is it possible to change something on the airport your working with in ADE and visibly see it changed in FSX without having to compile the ADE file and restart FSX? I thought there was a way to see live changes, but I may be mistaken as I couldn't find anything in the ADE PDF about this. Being connected is cool since I can use the A/C as crosshairs in ADE to help when placing things.2. Here's an SBuilderX question. I have been working on this Ft. Lauderdale, FL area now for a few weeks on and off. First I was going to make just an aiport back gound of KFLL, then mod the stock AFCAD file…

Hi,I have a problem with water in photosceneries in FSX. I mark water with the water-channel-mask and put (0,0,0) in the RGB-channels. The good news is: I get water; the bad news is: it's deep ocean water. That's not so bad for inland water but it's very bad for coastal areas. There is an abrupt transition from the dark water of my scenery to the default water. Is there a solution to retain the default water-class from below the photoscenery? I also know about the blend-channel. If I set that to 0 over water, then the water looks fine. Unfortunately the coastline in the aerial images and in the default scenery do not match 100%. I would prefer an approach (if possible) wh…

VTP lines are an extremely powerful feature of the terrain engine. This is nothing new and Dick Ludowise probably described all the details a few years ago. There are some people who have been using their own line definitions in scenery as well, such as Holger and others. And, both Christian Fumey's Ground2K4 and Luis de S

Hi there, Excuse the newbie question, can powerlines be placed using VTP lines or does that only place the green grass swath beneath the power line? Or do I have to place each utility pole as an individual scenery object? There seem to be two indistinguishable "utility" choices among the VTP lines menu in SBuilder but neither of them seems to place any utility poles. Thanks in advance. Misha

  18. Sorry if I'm asking a potential newbie question but I couldn't find an answer for this in any of the manuals I looked at. One of the "improvements" of FS9 over FS2002 was that it added special objects like churches, transformer stations, malls, fast food outlets etc. to teh autogen mix. I am presently working on a VFR scenery for the Belgrade area and have to contend with an inordinate number of MS Autogen gothic cathedrals that are way too large and culturally wholly inappropriate for the region. Is there a way of excluding only those special objects without excluding the rest of the autogen trees and buildings and without eliminating them from the rest of the world? Tha…

Hello all. Just getting started with SBUILDERX. Have created some photo scenery but don't know how to create the gradient that's shown in the tutorial "Make photo-real ground textures in Flight Simulator X". I have my photo image, copied and pasted as new layer, outlined the airport with selection tool, filled the airport selection with white, filled the rest of the background with black, but don't know how to create that gradient that's in the tutorial. In other words I have solid white to solid black. Have looked for a tutorial online but no luck. I'm not a graphics designer by no means and only play a little here and there but could find my way around if pushed in the …

As most of you know, I have a freeware autogen editing program out that's been well-used by designers. This weekend I added a new feature that I'm sure will be a help to many. I should have it ready for release soon. I used the existing program to add this feature even though they hardly seem related but found that the functionality of the program provided much of the code I would have to write.Basically, here's what it does. If you've created a large photoreal area with hundreds or thousands of tiles and chose not to create all the seasons at the same time, it can be daunting if you wish to later put in those other options, particularly the night lighting. There are…

  22. Hi. I have in the past managed to create a few bgl files which turn LC to WC (to remove odd squares of Landclass in the middle of the sea), using programmes such as Ground2K4, but for whatever reason I don't by any means get a 100% success rate, far from it in fact. It's usually a very frustrating process. I wouldn't care to add up the dozens of hours I have wasted in the past trying to change WC/LC, though my successes do show that at least in theory I know what to do!This may be a daft question - I am relatively inexperienced in this - but it possible to take one of my 'successful' LC to WC bgl files and edit it manually, changing the co-ordinates as necessary, so that …

  23. I have been working on my first project that has begun to get out of control. First I learned with the help of the two Luis'es and Lance how to use SBuilderX, thanks guys. I originally wanted to just make a background of KFLL that the ADE would overlay. Now that that is done, I have been modifing the ADE to match up with the photo base that I am using. I am pretty much finished with that and have begun to place static objects and such to decorate that place the way it appears in real life. The airport is coming along nicely, however I am still not satisfied. The more I get into this , the more I want to achieve. The questions I now have involve actually modifiing the ADE …

I am a newbie to scenery design and so far have got to use and I think understand SBuilder. I have succesfully managed to use it to create a base of an airport using an aerial photo. In my wisdom I thought by using SBuilder to do the ground work and either SceneGenX or AFCAD to create at the very least the runway lighting. Well with all the will in the world i cannot seem to get the runway lights to show up, they are like hidden underneath SBuilders bits. It would be nice if the runway/taxiways would layer ontop of the photo. I would be grateful if someone could help point me in the right direction. Many thanksRichard
