I have uploaded an airport "Tinian North 1945" to the file library. In order to create a runway that conforms to the terrain, I have designed the runway as a model using FSDS and have laid this model on top of the terrain.People attempting to use the airport for the first time have received an error message indicating that collision with another aircraft will occur, with the result that the program refuses to load. Since there are no other aircraft on the runway, I assume that the program thinks that the user will "collide" with the runway (which is an object, just like an aircraft).You can avoid this problem by starting at another runway (e.g. Tinian West), slewing to …

Hi all, Don Moser. Hope this finds one and all doing well. I have a question. I am looking for some macros for fencing. Being I built bush, most of my fences were either wooden rail that either I made or others have made. I am now looking for more modern chainlink or common type modern fencing used around todays airports, or fields or anywhere! I have tried to make some, but I have had NO luck with it. I have some old stuff, but they are framerate killers and look really bad. They are probably 2000 or even 98! Pretty rough by todays standards. Recently I have been trying to get to grips with mdltobgl with the idea of populating an addon airfield I'm working on with a few suitable aircraft. After a few false starts I finally got it to work using some old FS98 addon aircaft. Fine , until I tried a KC135 by Ken Blank as the basis for conversion to an API. The conversion worked - I placed the API using FSSC but then FSSC wouldn't compile the scenery - giving errors on every line of the KC135 API file where there were .xAF files needed. Looking at the textures I noticed that they all had names incorporating a "("symbol eg:KC-135(.0AF etc.I renamed them all without the "(", and edited the API file to remove the"…

I am wanting to make some improvements to some small airports in my home area- but I don't know which software is used for doing so? Are there any freeware programs that will allow me to enhance airports? I mainly just want to improve the shape of the terminal buildings as the default ones are inaccurate.Ruahrc

Hi,For some reason, I'm not seing the results in fs2004. The image from TS2.2 got split in autoasm. I don't know what I did wrong. Anyway, I proceeded to compile it and once I ran fs2004 I didn't see any of the roads. I tried the circle tutorial and I didn't see the island, but I did see the wave thru the gound texture.The first screenshot is the project window with the splitted roads. The second shot shows the original TS2.1 bitmap.Any Ideas?

I am trying to make a scenery object for fs2004. I can create the object in g-max and texture map it. But no matter what I do the texture wont show in the game. My object is gray. this tells me that the mapping took but it just isnt showing. Any help here would be greatly apreciated.

My latest version of CYVR is currently in beta testing and I have retained most of my FS2002/2004 terminal buildings, which have been created with EOD and NovaSim. I use AFW. The whole airport has been shifted so that the runways coincide with the default which will allow the VATSIM fliers to use my scenery. I have added quite a few new buildings, taxiway signs and some bridges and land texture. In addition I have used AFCAD to display all the runways, taxiways and aprons, the big advantage of this approach being the AFCAD display also includes all the taxiway lines etc. The textures at the west and east ends of the largest Air Canada hanger (in the north east corner o…

Hi - I've just begun looking into editing textures; my goal is to find all the textures that contain roads and remove the roads from them.Normally, it would be easy for me, as I've been using Photoshop for a long time - but I'm finding that many BMPs, when opened in Photoshop, are garbled, and I'm not sure what to do about the R8s.I've downloaded the SDK but cannot find ANY textures that follow their naming convention, nor a reference as to what to do with the files...Any help appreciated.Thanks,Andrew

I'm getting used to AutoAsm (using Terrascene) and overall I'm finding it a very good program. Roads, rivers and lakes are easily produced. However, I was wondering if others had their own techniques for smaller rivers and streams when using Terrascene. The main data comes from USGS and I presume it covers almost all bodies of water. The result means that my bitmap contains a lot of "spurious" lines which I assume are non perennial rivers etc. Does anybody have a method that they use to delete the additional pixels or is there another source they might use which has less detailed water information and therefore less cluttered bitmaps?Victor

Hello guys...I already have created a ship in Gmax and using a plane and Fsregen it has now a landable surface on it...then I tried to creat an API from the .asm file also with the Fsregen, as I have made many times in the past, in order to use it with FSSC and to make it rotate with the wind changing parameters in the code...thing that I have already done it in the past with other objects with success...everything seems to work perfect throuth the compilation, but when trying to land on it, no harden surface exist under my heli...The problem seems to appear when creating a Landing Area (which works if you compile it after that) and then trying to creat an API...There is …

Hello,I am attempting to have a stream I drew using the "Line/Lake Shore" function settle into the surrounding terrain rather than climb up the odd embankment. I know when one draws a LWM lake there is an option of defining the flatten elevation. Is there a way to have my stream have this option?Thanks

Hi folks,I have made a 45 km nightlit road (2 lanes/asphalt/divided) but does only get the first 30 km to light up with "traffic" at nighttime.Is there a known workaround for this?I have checked for duplicate point occurences in the file but can see none.Bjorn

Hi, My Name is Michael Metzner, and I am part of Livewire Airlines. I was browsing through the scenery files which are amazing I might add. I haven't had 1 problem. But recently I flew to Aruba, which is rated number 5 of the best and most beautiful locations in the world, and I was suprised how horrible the scenery was. There is no detail whatsoever. So I am asking if anyone could send me in the direction of a scenery designer who could take on the task and try and make some better scenery. Hi there,I had a large object, which I scaled down to make it in scale with the rest of my project. The problem is that the transform gizmo was originally off-center a little, but now it is displaced a fair distance above the object now that everything is scaled down. This makes it difficult to find and use the transform gizmo sometimes.Is tehre a way to move the transform gizmo (without moving my object) so that it is centered to my object again? In FSDS2, we had a command "Center axis to part", and it would be nice to find a command in GMAX which would do approxiamately the same thing.Thanks.- Martin

Hi guys this is my first post, I'm curious if anybody has had any success creating API's of FS9 default aircraft with MDL to BGL ?I keep getting error messages on all aircaft every time I try to load a MDL file. Hi, I am trying to alter a coastline in FS 2004 with Coastline Maker.Problem is that I cannot create a visible grid BGL as outlined inthe tutorial. I have installed all required files( according to the instructions),followed the process step-by-step, loaded the result, fired upFS2004, went to the area I am working on...and no grid. I'm slowly trying to build a Japanese house in gmax, and since it's the first thing I've ever done in GMAX, I kinda bit off more than I can chew.... anyways, in the time being, is there a way I can find a partular bgl file and make a copy of it and place it somewhere else in FS? Pretty much, what I'm saying is, if I found a building that I liked, how do I find out which file it is so I can make a copy of it and place it somewhere else?

Hi,I have the following in my ground2k4 project:ExcludeLandclassLines (for roads)VTP2 polysLines (for coastline)All works and compiles fine but in FS2004 the Lines are not there, neither the roads nor the coastline. Am I missing something? I find it strange as only 3 files are being compiled: the exclude one, the landclass one and the _5 one. Isn't there supposed to be a _9 for roads and coastline? Whats wrong here?Thanks all

Sorry for the dumb question - I've downloaded the FS Genesis beta landclass and am running 2k4 now; it automatically installed into 2k2, but does not for 2k4.I assume it works with 2k4, though I don't know for sure!Also, I'm planning on purchasing USA Roads - will a landclass file like this stop USA roads from working?Thanks,Andrew(I know, I know.. no such thing as dumb questions.. just dumb people...)

Hi All,I'm new to this so forgive me if this sounds stupid.I want to close Swansea's (UK) runway, as it has just been taken out of service. In AFCAD I put the runway crosses, take out the markings, close it to traffic etc., but then in FS, its there as it ever was.The AFCAD readme does say its not easy, but is there a definate way to make it visually unusable?Thanks for any replies...AL

I am on a quest to create the "ultimate pushback package" one with a working TUG! A free add-on consisting of:1. - Realistic pushback control panel and smooth operation.2. - Real-time interaction hearing the ground crew talk to the cockpit during the pushback process.3. - Realistic looking tug (or tugs), that pops up and moves back in unison with the aircraft.Unfortunately, there has been no release either freeware or payware of a pushback with a working tug yet if you fly heavies you would probably use this all the time. Hi all,I decided to re-post Derek's post in a separate thread because I believe this is a significant discovery for anyone looking for a free utility that re-projects images and GIS data form UTM (or many other projections and datums) to the FS-native lat/long WGS84. "Hi Guys,ERDAS ViewFinder is a freeware image analysis package that allows raster reprojection. It will handle GeoTIFF and .img files, but you can also download a plugin from ER-MAPPER that will allow you to read an .ecw that you can then save as one of the other formats which you can reproject from.
