  1. Hi - Basically, my question is: How can I get the most accurate landforms?For example, I fly near Philadelphia, and there are some major waterways that are just incredibly bad. Ideally, I'd like this type of thing accurate enough so that if USA Roads puts a highway adjacent to, and following, a river, the river is accurate.I realize that it may not be that simple.Thanks,Andrew

    I'm trying to create ramp lighting using effect files and the FS2004 gamepack. For those who are not aware, the old trick of using the name "light_land" doesn't work using the FS2004 gamepack. Instead, FS seems to be moving towards effect files. I have been able to place these by using the attach script in GMAX, but I can't seem to find a good light for illuminating my ramp. All I can find are lights that are single points of light. Has anyone managed to find a good effect file for lighting?- Martin

    Hey, I've created a tower, with a rotating beacon, but I cannot get the beacon to emit any light! I do not know how I should do it, and I think ive called the material bright_NAMEI dont know whats the problemAnd how do I add red anticollision lights to buildings?Whats the proper way to add a good ole tower beacon to a building?Moses

    I am still flying FS2002 and the superb PIC B767. For some time I keep on getting an error message popping up from time to time, saying "Scenery Libary object not found". When I check the ID number it appears to relate to the mooney bravo. I have re-insatlled FS2002 twice now and the problem still exists. I have installed FS Traffic, PIC B767 FS2002 Pro.Can anybody kindly help? Best Wishes,Kindest regardsChrisEGBB

    Good Morning All,I'm trying to exclude some scenery around my home field and am trying to use ExcBuilder version 2.0 by Paavo Pihelgas. Every time I try to open it I get the following error:"Class not registered. You need the following file to be installed on your machine. MSSTDFMT.dll."Problem is, I do have it within Windows.     Hi to all !A fellow flightsimmer asked me to remove 2 bridges ( Halifax harbour ). I thought I could easily do the job by creating an exclude file !!!Well ...I wasted 3 hours of my life before I made a simple test that proved that bridges CAN NOT be removed with an exclude file.Sooooooo....the big question : HOW THE H...l ! do I remove them !Thanks for any suggestions !

    Hi all, Its time to work on with my HO train layout in the room in my hangar. Hopefully by the time I get back to scenery Design AFcad will be updated to allow more objects to be placed. AFW is too hard for me to follow. I will be glad to see mostly FS9 tools appearing because I don't wan't to work on older versions and try to untangle the pile of tools currently available that work with and also conflict with each other. I play with FS9 in cold weather times and my trains in warmer periods. Actually I have been not keeping up with FS secenery design simce I mostly completed Craford Airport and uploaded it in the spring.Larry in Colorado.

    After attempting to lay down a 512 x 512 pixel photoreal polygon on a flattened airport area (using FSDS), I am baffled by the fact that during FSDS compilation (SCASM) the image divided itself into 4 quads, the top left 256 x 256 quad changed places with the bottom right, and the top right exchanged places with the bottom left. It does this with DXT1 and 24 bit images. Anticipating this "shuffling of the quads" (my phrase...sorry, its early ) fixes the problem, but I want to avoid needless work if possible.I posted first on the FSDS site if anyone wants to see the images, and the details, but there doesn't seem to be much discussion there right now.

    Hi all,I'm getting mad!Some kilometers west of Frankfurt (EDDF), there's Wiesbaden airbase (ETOU), by default (FS2K4) represented by 2 beacons and a runway, nothing else. So I wanted to "beef it up" a bit - at least there should be some taxiways, an apron (yes I've got aerial photos) and maybe some buildings/hangars.First, I used AFCAD2 to add the apron as poly and some taxiways. The result was, no runway, no apron, no taxiways. Next Try: create a flatten area with airport, adjust heights in AFCAD (deafault & start loc's). Still, just the grass poly where ETOU once was, remains.I tried that on different ground elevations (higher and lower than default), to no better r…

  16. I know that Terrascene enables you to adjust the resolution of the output file. So you can have 7.5m or 15m or whatever other figure you want. I also know that AutoAsm Reduced Points function allows you to reduce the number of points in lines by half, third etc for improved FS performance. My question is this. If I had an image that was, say, 7.5m resolution and then I decided to reduce this resolution to 15m would that be the same as taking the same 7.5m resolution image and then using the Reduced Points option in AutoAsm to half the poinys? Or do the features affect totally different aspects of the image?

    Does anyone know of a good way of providing fairly large areas of "ground cover"? - by that I mean something that resembles bushy(scrub?) land. I've tried using tangled lines of reduced size trees but doesn't really look that good . Doing the same with single (reduced) trees isn't much better and takes forever .BTW I'm using FSSC.MTIADave

  19. HelloJust wondering if in the BGL code there is a way to rename the runways without having to change the heading? Or are these two automatically related? I ask this because in Architect2002 the numbering are automatically done based on heading. However I do want to alterate the numbers without affecting the physical heading of the RwysThanksMichel

    How am i supposed to tell where the terminals are of the airport i am editing? I am trying to edit KSMF (sacramento) but i dont know where the terminals change "shape". I know the rough area where they are not the exact and i dont want any of the gates on the terminal. Thank You :D

    I am looking for racetrack macros or scenery. I want to use them to add to Louisville and/or other cities where a track is found. I know you can create new scenery, but is there a way to edit the default scenery that is included with MSFS? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi allI was thinking ,flightsim lacks some important weather phenomenons like downdrafts,turbulence around rising ground etc. Is it possible to add these as permanent effects at key locations? I have been playing around at Madeira which acording to Jeppesen the airfield is subject to turbulence due to the location (side of a hill next to the sea)so would it be possible to make a bgl that houses weather effects similar to the soaring thermals? i dont know if downdrafts are modelled or if they can be created but it would make the landings more challenging.I find that it is just to easy at times to stay on the localiser/glide compared with when i fly the pa28 for real! any c…

    I use AutoASM to create roads, etc in FS2004. Unfortunately, the road texture is always shown as the default texture in areas that I have processed. Outside of those areas the "improved" replacement textures appear as expected. Is there a problem when creating VTP roads that always regress to the default value??? I have no idea where FS2004 gets the default texture since I have installed replacement textures that work?????Thanks,Dick Boley @KLBE
