Using FSDS, what is the best way to create a civilian airport rotating beacon? I've played with it without the results I was looking for. Animation is good but light beam is problematic.

Hello,I'm curious if anybody anybody has been able to incorporate pilot controlled lighting in their FS9/2002 sceneries. I know that ASD has a PCL macro, but it doesn't work in FS2002/2004.Thanks,Brandon

G'day all,I am (slowly) building scenery for the Hunter Valley region of NSW Australia, an area famous for 1)vineyards and 2) Coal mines.Does anyone know of a source for such ground textures? Hi there,Total newbie here with respect to scenery design. I'm trying to create a landclass for the Ottawa area using CLUMP data (http://www.geogratis.cgdi.gc.ca). Here's what I've done:1. imported the interchange (e00) file to a coverage2. made that into a shapefile and projected it to geographic, WGS843. symbolized that into different colours for different landclasses4. exported that as a 200 dpi bitmap (image below -- I had to severely degrade the quality to upload the picture to the forum)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/88683.jpg5. brought that bitmap into Fireworks and cropped it to the area that's actually classified.6. figured out the extent of the cropp…

Hi all, I am using FSDS to create my objects for my scenery project. My question is this: What are some of the ways to PRECISELY place my created objects in the flight sim? What is the easiest is what I should be asking. Currently the only way that I know of is to pull the coordinates from the simulator and place the object using those coordinates. Unfortunately the coordinate format is slightly different in FS2004 than it is in FSDS (XX:XX.XX vs. XX:XX:XX.XXXX). So I need some serious advice here. Hello,I think I can remember some discussion about this topic but I wasn't able to find it again. Sorry, if I repeat that question here:The problem is that I positioned a lot of objects out of the default FS2004-library using XML without any problems yet.But it seems that it isn't possible to insert some NY-Objects like the Statue of Liberty and the Rollercoaster in custom sceneries. BGLcomp compiles it without complaining but these objects just don't show up in FS.To be sure that there is no mistake in the XML-Code I changed the Statue of Liberty GUID to the GUID of one of the lighthouses in the library. I'm trying to create mesh terrain for FS9 and have downloaded theis SDK. In the terraing SDK, they explaing that I should go to the following link and click ont the DEM that I want. Hello,FS2004 comes with a number of default bridges, which are based on the VTP textures 1213-1261. Short tests with some of these textures and the common z-shaped line structure show a number of bridge objects in different shapes - from roofed wooden bridges to large concrete highway bridges.They seem to depend on the texture id, the line width and (rather frustrating) from the direction of the line: a similar bridge line with the same line width and texture id has a different shape, when pointing into another direction.It is quite difficult for me to generate a certain bridge form.Came someone else across this problem and could please explain, how to solve it?Is there a…

Hi,I am looking for information about which type of bridge is shown by autogen for the different textures you can select for a line. I plan to 'build' the bridges with ground2k4, which offers a selection of textures for lines including those described as bridges without giving a visual clue to what type of bridge will result. Has anyone already tested the available textures and the effect they have on the type of bridge?BTW, LWMViewer seems to be unable to disassemble the default br****.bgl files (the export option does not work for these files :( ?), otherwise one would be able to compare the source code with the result. And has anyone a list of the GUID # of the bridges…

Hi all,Quick question, I'm a little confused about Coastline maker and the use of cells and such. I've gotten a picture of a full cell here but that thing must cover a good 30miles by 40 miles or something. Do I really need a whole Cell for a project or can I use the mini cells that show up? Cause at 30 miles by 40 miles you have to make the picture pretty big to get good accurate coast lines.

Hi everyone,I walked into my little cousin's room the other day and he was watching a cartoon called Swatkats. Basically its a couple of bad-#### cats who fly something that looks like a F-14 helping the cops fight crime. They stage out of a secret airfield under a junk yard. Basically everythings underground including the runway, which slopes up towards the surface at the end, with a big panel which slides back revealing the end of the runway.Now as far as I can tell we can't go underground in flightsim, so I was thinking about doing something similar, but in this case into the side of a mountain. Any ideas? I've also never built mountains in flightsim. Where do I start?…

It's took 2 weeks to sort everythings out and finally success with VTP road in FS9 by convert .shp road in to vtp by Autoasm. Using both picture from Terrascene and by import .mp data. Now come to LWM part, still no success after trying many times. First I test with stock bitmap "LosAngeles"Here are my steps.1. load Losangeles in to Autoasm from main panel.2. load Losangeles.bmp from editor panel. Area fill with blue color appear on screen.3. Hi everyone,I decided to build some new 3D airport lights for FS9. I found that after placing them in the sim, they show fine when close but as the aircraft flies away from them they completely disappear.I have set the range of each object to 100nm (max) but still they disappear out of sight very quickly.Any info on how I can fix this?Thanks.Mark. :)

Whenever I use anything except 1 lane undivided median or 1 lane / divided median road, I get very nice light poles and/or power lines.The trouble is that these objects appear randomly in lines, usually right across the middle of the local airfield!Any body else have this problem?Geoff

Sorry to bother everyone with this (again) but I am trying to get back into fixing the conflicting coatline, lake and river flattens for the photreal/mesh scenery and I am confused as to exactly which files I have to go after to remove the flattens from, so if someone could please help.I am exausted trying to find what post had this info (mybe its just me but the search engine seems bugy).

I have been using Ground2k4 to work on scenery for New Providence island in the Bahamas. The attached screen shot shows the work in progress. I have managed to eliminate most of the default scenery by using the "exclude" feature in Groundk4 with its default layers checked. I also made the entire area Water Cells in order to remove the default scenery. Unfortunatley there are some remanents "floating" in the right side of the ocean.1. What do I need to do to eliminate them if there is already an "exclude" setting in that area?I also have a number of lakes (one of which is a big one almost in the center of the island) and harbors/inlets that are seperate LWM No Shoreline …

Hello Everyone,I have a problem involving either Ground2K4 or a satellite image or both. I'm trying to draw Buffalo Bill Reservoir on the Shoshone River a few miles upstream from Cody, Wyoming.I'm using approximately the southwest quarter of image p037r029_7p2000724-z12_nn80.tif (bmp) that includes the country between the southeastern tip of Yellowstone Lake eastward to a little bit east of Buffalo Bill Reservoir.When I try to draw the reservoir outline beginning on the northern shore at the outlet and proceed westward or upstream, I get the error of the line crossing itself not too long after beginning drawing. I'm a noob as to the airport programs but from the various docs I've read it would seem that the taxiway signs are not easily moved??? :-(Also I Guess the same can be said as to the position of Aircraft buildings...I don't need to change them but just move them.Thanks for any help.

Howdy Everyone,I need some direction in producing satellite images like those that Holger Sandmann was providing until do-it-yourself programs came along. I am using the ERDAS ViewFinder and FGis programs. I've tried several times to get an image like Holger's but with no success.My images are not as large as Holger's (larger lakes and other features) and the LOD13 areas appear as small rectangles rather than the squares as In Holger's images.
