I was wondering if there are any restrictions using Google Earth images to make a freeware scenery of Australia?Also I looked at www.spaceimage.com and they have awesome satellite photos and at excellent prices too.One idea I had was to form a 'scenery club' where we could share access and download what we liked and make our scenery (freeware only of course!).Does anyone have any idea if we could recruit at least 1000 members?Just some ideas I am throwing around, coz it would be nice to have some great scenery to fly in. Hi Fellas.I was wondering whether you'd be able explain or possibly solve an issue I'm having with VTP road-based polys. I'm trying to enhance some scenery with ground2K4 over the top some existing 3rd party scenery. I want to keep the 3rd party scenery because it's a great improvement to the default, but I want to improve on it again. The 3rd party scenery is based on Ground2K4 for FS9. All is well except for two things. (1) In one area the 3rd party scenery is causing a line of telegraph poles to run through an airfield. There's no actual road through the airfield to cause the line of poles, but nonetheless resolve because of the 3rd party addon. They are not there in t…

Now possible to build taxiways and parking areas on a slope. The picture shows three distinct levels (runway, main terminal, general aviation) tied together with taxiways. Hey there simmers. I have a question, I just obtained the most recent layout map of Las Vegas strip including all upcoming new hotels and such. I need to see if someone can do me a big favor and create a good scenery for Las Vegas area, this map contains surrounding areas. The current Las Vegas scenery outthere is not too accurate and I would appreciate anyone with great experience helping create the scenery for the strip. I have ben trying to get Aerosoft's superb EDDF Airport working in FS9. But I have problems with some of the taxiways flashing and there is a large area around the airpor which is white. Are there any fixes to this?Best Wishes,ChrisEGBB

Hello,I'm just experimenting with the Autogen Annotator after I used VTP2 and LWM for the recent years.The annotator is quite interesting for placing building on custom ground textures. But I wonder how to enhance the autogen density. When I create a tile with houses and some vegetation between the houses, the vegetation doesn't look half as dense as the default scenery city landclasses or the latest France VFR screenshots:http://www.francevfr.com/divers/Iles-08.jpgAny idea how they got it to create such a density? I've installed all mesh, waters, roads and landclass that's available from FSFreeware.Aside from that, I have some other sceneries (airports, landclass etc.) as well.After having already a couple of freh FS9 installs behind me, I have everything clearly separated from the core FS9 files, so i can switch AFCADs and scenery as well as landclasses on and off in scenery.cfg.Some FSFreeware add-ons require me to delete FS9 core files (e.g. roads, water etc.). And since I didn't keep track of all file modifications when installing add-ons, it could be possible that some core files were altered by them.My problem now is that at some places, I run into CTDs. I have a very detailed main airport building with lots of stuff up close (photoreal textured luggage carts, mules, etc.) so I decided to create a lower value LOD to help frame rates, etc. I had no problem doing so, and I am certain I am switching fom the lower LOD to the higher properly. I put a large blue sphere temporarily above the terminal in the lower LOD group, so I have a visual cue as to when the system switches to LOD100 as I slew toward it. Heres what puzzles me. My system switches from LOD099 to LOD100 before I get to the airport boundary????I would prefer to keep the detail out until I get much closer...but I suspect fractional values are not allowed. Since my recent forays into GMAX I'm finding the need to do a great deal of walking around downtown Phoenix with my digital camera snapping shots of building sides from rather bizarre angles that a normal tourist or photographer wouldn't necessarily be doing. I've been wondering, in our state of heightened national paranoia, if people wouldn't view my actions with some trepidation and call the authorities on me, thinking I may be some terrorist or criminal casing out structures. Can someone point me to a list showing what areas each of the default *.BGL files in the scenery directories cover? I'm especially interested in what files cover the land areas for the west end of the grand bahama island, which seems to have disappeared due to something I've installed. MYGW, autogen buildings, towers, etc are all there, but under about two feet of water. Hi,I was wondering if someone could help me out with making (or how to do) a particular feature for a sceneryI'm sure most everyone is familiar with the famous approach to Kai Tak airport. Because of the geography, the approach was not straight-in and had to be executed with a 45-degree (or so) turn on short final in order to align the airplane with the runway. Something similar can be seen with the visual approach to rwy 13L at New-York's JFK airport (not visible in FS2004 but could be seen in FS2002). I posted this in another forum area with no luck. This might have been a better area to ask this though. I'm looking for some help with the FS9 ATC when using modified AF2 files. The ATC loves to send me to runways that have been set for closed for landing, which is not a good thing sometimes. The best example I have of this is trying to land at Lukla, Nepal (VNLK) using the NEPAL AIRPORT SCENERY, VERSION 2.0 by Einar Aarvik. The modified AF2 file closes runway 25 to landings and runway 7 to takeoffs as it should be in real life. However, the ATC loves to try to send me to land at runway 25 without the option of even using runway 7 (depending on the winds of course). As i…

Folks, when I look at my photo texture .bmps in Annotator, they are mirrored North-South. This wouldn't matter too much, except that the autogen is placed AS IF the image was not mirrored. So it is in the wrong place.The photo .bmps are generated by SBuilder and are low-res.Any ideas?Jon

Hey all. I'm trying something in GMAX I just can't get a handle on. I have a place on my Phoenix scenery where a freeway goes underground below a park and I have an excellent photoreal high-res shot I'd like to overlay on a plane above the scenery. My intent is to flatten the ground below that plane so that I can actually have the freeway angle down through that tunnel. It's a simple thing to just put a rectangular plane over the cutout area and texture the photo onto it but then the areas on the image where the freeway drops I need to exclude from the plane. I'll then texture road planes for the freeway. It'd make it easier if the road was perfectly square to the area bu…

I'm attempting to design a campsite. I got a decent cabin tent made. Then, separately, I designed a camping chair. Then, I realized that it's kinda hard to place them into FS if they're separte objects. So, I experimented with the Xref dialogue and was able to put all the objects together.The only problem is that I lose the texture for the Xref object. Is there anyway to have more than one difuse map to texture objects with?kkilo

Hi guys,I am trying to build a fence around my airport but I have a problem that I cannot solve no matter what I've tried so far. :-)I am using a gmax created fence, converted as a bgl library object using arno's great library creator xml utility for the object.Then using that GUID I draw a line in my scenery using SceneGenX (Build 34) with the "Create Line of Objects" command and assign the Fence name and GUID. The fence in FS2004 appears ok, BUT it's not repeated continouasly! Hello all,I'm new to scenery design and have a very simple question, how the heck can I fix this ugly poly that surrounds this airport?I was able to create 2 files, an Exclude.bgl for all the surrounding buildings etc using SceneGenX.
