I need help! I'm desigining a floatplane base for Chalks in Bimini I plan to share and it's my first. I have a little problem with my dock areas. The AI Grumman Goose shows up but it's sitting on top of the water with it's gear extended. (Just like it's walking on water)Im new at this float stuff so I'm not really sure how to use AFCAD for the Taxi way links in the water. I tried using normal Taxi links but they showed up as blue lines in this pretty Carribean water. Even with a 2 foot width. So I had to use apron links to make the lines dissapear. Is this the problem? Also the elevation is set to zero for the airport reference and they still are standing with the gear…

  2. I have downloaded and installed a scenery for Boccadifalco at Sicily. Unfortunately a lot of textures were missing. After decompiling the bgl file and looking into it I managed to find most of the missing textures but I am still missing :1airgeo.bmp1airgeoW.bmpWhich I think are used for a couple of static aircraft as these are the only objects left completely white. Is there anybody who has got these texture files or knows where to find them ?Thanks in advance !Ren

I'd like to extend an invitation to the community here: If someone is willing to do the land class for somewhere in the USA, I'd be willing to do the water scenery as we've done for new england. There are a few caveats:The project must be FREEWARE!It must encompass an entire LOD5 - I won't be able to make patched default scenery if the request list gets long...I'd like the final product to be called FREEflow where ever, and we'd like to be listed as authors and be allowed to distibute the scenery on our website (as well as AVSIM or others). If others wish to work on the same area, a team effort is expected. You must be pretty well versed in land class work - we can offer s…

Can I convert my ground textures to DXT3 (using the image tool batch command), and if I can, would there be any performance benefit to doing it? (I am using add on textures.)I am not a scenery person, although I have been able to add an aid here and change a light effect there. Thanks for letting me ask this question in such fine company.Dennis

I'm manually adding taxiway signs to KTUS (since the old ones were so incredibly far off from my photorealisic scenery). However, I find that in the middle of the airport, the signs are failing to show - however, if I slew up, then down using F1, I can see them - they're being placed below the flat surface for the airport. Anyone know any workarounds? Thanks

I am in the process of making a sloping runway.I have used Light_land in Gmax (FS2002 mode) to create the T-bar lights at the end of the runway. But the problem is the Plasi lights that should be at a 5' angle.I have tried Afcad2, but the rwy ends are not at the same altitude so this is not optimal.http://www.scenerysunnmore.com/images/bruk...-05-2005_05.jpghttp://www.scenerysunnmore.com/images/bruk...-05-2005_06.jpgI'm also planning on putting running rabbit lights on another airport with the same problem of different altitudes. Is there any program, or manual editing that allows me to do these things?

Hi,I am attempting to construct a number of sceneries. The first requires a sort of net which, is obviously see through. I am aware that to make textures see through in FS9, they are to be made black however, I have made my texture using a green colur, filled in with black and I now have a green and black net. What am I missing to make the black bits see through?Secondly, I am trying to get an example fireworks xml file so that I can see how it is constructed. Would anyone mind sending me an xml file to look at or point me in the right direction for one to download?Cheers

Hi all. I recently created some GMAX scenes and objects (mostly highway segments and bridges) for my photo scenery work and found that large areas of my autogen definitions simply disappeared. Did some searches about this subject on various forums yesterday and I'm more confused than ever. Here's the setup. The GMAX scene began as a few bridges I placed at intervals along a dry river bed. On my scenery the total footprint of the scene covered a few square miles with the river being primarily an EW alignment. There seemed to me no degradation of autogen along that river as I went back and forth to FS to check the progress of my work as I added more and more bridges. …

Hello,I've been a follower and dabbler of scenery creation for quite a while now (perhaps since FS98) and have been merely a spectator once the Gmax-based techniques have come to prominence. Over the last few versions of MSFS, scenery creation techniques have become more complex. My question is: what methods do you use to gather source materials? Do you use maps? autocad/gis files? Do you "eyeball" things from good photos? Do you rely on GPS readings of your own, etc? Given the post 9/11 world we live in, I don't think any airport in the U.S. is going to be forthcoming with the type of detailed plans that I could use as the basis for my FS scenery modelling. I figur…

Hi Folks I'm trying to exclude a bridge and road in FS9 that are not in the right place. I've tried getting rid of the bridge using FSSC with no success. I've looked over the document "Beginners Guide for Scenery Design" in this Forum and thought that "DefArea V2.0" might be the solution. I downloaded and installed the program and placed the FSconnect.dll in the modules folder of FS9 as instructed but when I activate the DefArea.exe I get the message "Error comunicating with FSconnect:1". Not sure what I'm doing wrong or even if this is the correct way of eliminating this bridge and road.Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ken

I was inspired by a post in the main MSFS program to finally step forward.I've been wanting to do the greater Richmond, VA area airports for the last several years. I've slowly built up my understanding of the SDK and want to tackle this ASAP. My thoughts are to handle the smaller airports around Richmond building up to KRIC. If any in the Central Virginia area are up to this task and want to collaborate, I am game.Jeff

Hi allI'm trying to create some lakes in a mountainous area and I'm having trouble with some big cliffs that seem to be a product of the default flatten files for the area. Can anyone explain to me how I decide which file or files are the right ones to disable, is it based on Lat. and Long. or what?Cheers!Stew Bullen

Gentlemen,I notice that when I create something as simple as a box with a white material attached that there is a drastic difference in the level of shading between the sunny side and the opposite side (in FS2004). The opposite side is too dark. Is there a way to lighten it up? Oh, the nuances of GMAX!

I was wondering if there are a few people here that would like helping me taking FS2004 to the next level.I've just finished a 20m mesh for NZ and the detail is just incredible. However, a side effect is that the flat runways look a bit stupid. I've been contemplating over this a while. My idea is to build a highres mini-mesh for the runways. I have a few thoughts on how this could be achieved, but the whole method needs testing and input from other bright minds in this forum. So I thought maybe I can get a group together to solve this.OK, here it goes. My idea really is to build something more advanced than just sloped runways, but runways that have a whole elevation prof…

Anyone have any special secret tricks for getting photoscenery and mesh to line up perfectly? I can never seem to get this right the first time, and it takes lots and lots of tweaking of coordinates to get it all to line up. Specifically, I have a 10m original resolution mesh file for an island, and I am laying strips of photoscenery across it because my computer can't handle one big one. I'm having enough trouble making sure the photoscenery lines up with itself, and now the mesh is way off and I've got shorelines running up cliffs etc. Thanks,Scott

Hi,Using GMAX 1.2 and running FS2002. Building an airport. As I saw that some .bgl's became to big, I decided to split the scenery in question: apron (base texture / white lines / yellow taxiines + number parkingspots).Note that I am not shure to mix 2D (lines) + 3D (rounded corners and ellips ones, made with a tube without a height value). That's my first question. In order to do the things right (I think): I loaded the base apron and then (after drawing the lines) I deleted the apron. In a second stage, I draw the yellow taxilines (together with the white lines), but I remarked that the file becaome to big. The running proced became long. And all of a sudden, an error messa…

Hi all, I am currently working on a bunch of military bases in the US and overseas. I have been an AFCAD designer only for a while, but I am trying to break in to scenery as well. I know how to place scenery, but I am horrible at designing it. Does anyone know of any good Military macros out there. (ie. Hardend shelters, Hangars, etc.)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
