I'm currently working on a scenery for Kempsey Australia - see http://virtualvfr.com - and I'd like to add some white water and waterfalls to the gorges in the great dividing range (using Andy Weir's Ozmesh STRM terrain.). I use Ground2K4 and it seems to me that the easiest way to go is to lay down a custom bitmap on the stream line (since I'm not savvy enough to know if a custom stream line is even possible) and then use a steam/smoke effect to simulate spray. I don't want to re-invent the wheel though. Anyone out there chasing waterfalls?Che

Is there any newer applications to edit/add/delete navaids like EasyNav, for 2004? (Will EasyNav work for FS2004?)I want to add an NDB, a waypoint, and a localiserThese are not located at the airport. (the localiser is near, OEJ LOWI)I read the post, but didn't see anything recent. Hi all!Does the SCASM TexRelief command still work in fs2004? I tried to get it work but nothing showed up. Maybe I passed wrong params. I'm not sure if I understood the documentation correctly. Does somebody used it and can give me an example? Would be of great help! Or are there any better possibilities for placing high resolution ground-mesh?And another question: Is it possible to code conditional flattening - e.g. flattening/no flattening depending on the distance from the aircraft?ThanksGottfried

Hi guys. Was wondering whether anyone might be able shed light on the following two issues relating to autogen. (1) What are the reasons for autogen objects not sticking? I've experimented with the annotation files of default and photo scenery ground tiles and noticed that some times building objects will not resolve in the FS environment. Size is a definite cause. Big objects just won't show. Density is another factor. This should only influence how many objects are displayed a given distance, but I get sense that too many objects will prevent some from showing. This is apparent after introducing trees. Buildings that once showed, no longer stick. (2) Why do some autogen…

Hi guys.Got another question about these aberrant power poles in Ground2K4. I'd posted a query some time ago and thought I'd solved the problem. However, after coming back to the scenery, it's apparent the problem has resurfaced - probably never actually went away.Basically, I'm getting lines of power poles that run off in various directions, some of which seem to go on forever.They are triggered by the introduction of new VTP road polys. They initiate at the ends of these new roads. They do not relate to the roads in the default scenery and they do not relate to the third-party scenery on which I'm building.I can't get rid of them no matter what I do.If anyone can help, …

Hi,I'm trying to make a simple, steady red beacon with a visibility of 15km, that is lit all the time. I have a semi-working effect file in that the effect "grows" to the dimensions specified, but it neith lights up nor looks anything like a red light! It is 256x256 in size and the circle is centered and reaches to almost the edges of the file equally. Is this OK? Hi all,What would be the simplest method of applying custom landclass to a small area around an airport? Also how can I convert a sattelite image into an image fit to be used as landclass?I'm a total noob to scenery design and I've been trying to achieve the above with Ground2k VTP's. Also had a look at AutoASM and the manual, but everything looks so complicated.Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Keith

Has anybody successfully got the default transmission towers to display correctly? I've used Rwy 12 to place a number of objects and am very happy with the ease of use. However I've tried to place two towers, radio tower 8166fd03480c41117f4cd1924c2629b3 and tv tower5137c38443463c5527b068a311fd080a .In both cases they display untextured, just blank red. A couple of other simmers have tried my bgl and get the same result so I don't think my default texture bmps have a problem although I haven't actually been able to track down which ones they may be.Thank youMal

Hi,When I look at the error log, this is what it gives me. Not very helpful! The .x file itself just contains a hex value.I created a building using 18 boxes. It (on its own) exported fine. As soon as I had started to texture it, it produces this error. I've textured buildings in the past and they exported OK.I mapped a texture, then unwrapped the UV per face, and it had multiple faces on one side. It seemed to unwrap OK. I did copy the texture within the material editor which deleted the original texture reference. I renamed it (inside the material editor in gMax) just in case this refernce was broken (hence the error) and re-mapped all the textured objects back to this …

No matter what I try I cannot get Sbuilder to compile.It saves the work in the work directory, but never goes past that point. I have tried reinstalling it, and nothing changes.I create my scenery, select it, and go to the bgl compile screen. I select what I want to compile, and hit ok.The files go to the work directory, and thats it.Any ideas?Iam using a registered version as well.Thanks for any help.

HiHave recently been using Slartibartfast to make Ocean shores from only mesh data. So far processing is excellent because it make shores which perfectly fit my mesh in like 10secs!However inland waterbodies I find much harder. Have used waterbody data to make a watermap but never get a perfect fit, making big drops into my mountain lakes occassionally. Would love to expand the 'make only from mesh' feature so Slartibartfast might take elevation values from regions in my watermap and then make waterbodies directly from the mesh at those elevations by kinda using individual 'SeaLevel=x' values for every region individually. All I would need to do is paint watermap grays…

Iv been using GMAX for scenery design and it requires MSXML4. Is their a readme for it (MSXML)? I have no idea how its suppose to be used. And yes I am a noob.Thanks

Hi,I'm totally new to this area and reading the SDKs has set my knowledge even further back! :(I'd like to tweak the AutoGen (for now ;) ) on a totally default airport - i.e. add more trees/buildings. I've read the AutoGen SDK and this is next to useless.Can someone tell me the steps I need to take to simply add autogen to an area? I am working on a project right now to mesh, and LC the entire area of the carribean.Mesh is done, LC is primarily done the only issue is that MS does not have any really good tropical textures.So I have taken some of the default textures, and altered them going off of pictures to get a more tropical feel. Heres where the questions come into play.1) I know I cannot have them in the same directory as my LC files so do I add them to the mesh /texture Directory? The Mesh sits lower in the SceneryLibrary will this affect the viewing of the new tiles?2) can I just place them on the landclass surface as new textures to get them to show or do I need to alter the scenery.cfg file…

I have uploaded Ground2K_V1_1.zip in FS2002 utilities library.This program allows to create LWM/VTP polygons and lines.Polygons can be concave and cross LOD13 or LO8 borders.I have noted some troubles with 8 bits Bmp; I think (not verified) that some utilities do not respect the internal format/values.I hope this program will help in designing your scenes.Christian

Hello,I have used AFCAD 2.21 to redesign my local airport (Olympia, WA - KOLM). Now that I have corrected the taxiway locations, the taxiway signs are not aligned and need to be moved. The BGL file I edited (AF2_KOLM.bgl) makes no reference to taxiway signs. How do I sort through the cryptic bgl naming convention to find the file that contains the associated taxiway signs for the airport?FYI I'm using Ultimate Terrain USA scenery and FS Live Traffic if that helps.Thanks,EG

Well, we are heavily working on it as I speak. But we could use a person or two to help finish up on a couple of items. Don't want to overwork some of our other modelers.1. Someone who knows Adobe Photoshop for a few things. You do not have to be a modeler for this (maybe your a nubie want to get your feet wet?)2. A Gmax modeler to finish a few odd buildings (2-3 small ones).3. Like writing? Like creating interesting Aiport manuals? Hey all, nearly ready to release my Phoenix scenery and probably need to include an installer that does the majority of the work for the average user. This question's for other commercial designers that have included an installer. Have you had your installer simply copy the scenery and texture files into the appropriate directories or have you actually made changes to the scenery.cfg file? If the latter, what type of program did you use for locating, parsing, and editing the scenery.cfg file? I've been looking for an up-to-date table of all of the LandClasses, their properties and textures they use. I already have Arnaud's "landclasses.xls" table which is an amazing piece of work, However, I find it a bit hard to read (apart from being in French) and incorrect in some places. In particular, I need to find out which land classes use "internal" autogen (NOT .AGN file). I have also been on the trail of Gerrish's Landclass table athttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/91196.zipbut, as the link is innactive, the trail grows cold.
