Hello Guys,I was wondering if anybody knows the FS9 Mesh BGL file format. I would appreciate if somebody could help me out. My email is [email protected] looked at the FS2004 Terrain SDK. I see that the BLG file format is explained, but I am not interested in textures, just the actual mesh data(altitude). Unfortunately that is not documented.Thank you very much in advance.Sincerely,Tiberiu

Hi there,I'm trying to do some scenery work using SBuilder 2.05 (downloaded here).I'm able to build VTP lines, Excludes, VTP areas without any problems. It all shows up in FS. So far so good. However when I try to add my own Landclass. The result is that the entire area turns into water.I checked the raw file and there I see my custom landclass surrounded by transparent landclass (254). When I use LWMVIEWER and view the BGL the entire Area shows up as 255 (invalid). The landclass is placed in its own scenery directory without texture folder and I played with is position in the scenery libary but nothing helps.Could it be that the generated .inf file has a problem. (I dont…

Does anyone know of a tool that will extract the runway data out of FS2004 and dump it to a plain, delimited text file?I know FSNav extracts the info out of the BGLs but I would like the data in a form that I can process with my own scripts.I haven't done any scenery design for a while so I'm out of date with regards to what tools are available.ThanksPaul

Got a hankering the other day to add in tubers going down the Salt River in my Phoenix scenery and started playing with GMAX. Tube was simple to construct and then I started on the human riding it. Polys added up quickly along with complicated textures to make skin, bathing suits, faces, hair, etc. I think I'm aiming more towards a much simpler solution such as just a real basic box object for the rider with the details all in the texture. Are there any sources that designers know of for very simple human GMAX models or good textures for wrapping around simple models? I've found lots of pictures of people tubing down rivers but the shots are almost always from the si…

I have two troubles with FSDS.#1- When I apply textures to an object they must be placed in the main FS9Texture folder. It says it's copying the original .bmp into that folder. I want to be able to putt he texture into my addon scener(my scenery name)Texture folder. This makes things easier and keeps them together nicely. How do I accomplish this? #2- How do I add a pointvertex to an already existing object (say a cube). For instance, how can I add it to a side or an edge, as to further edit it. The "Add Point" feature doesn't seem to accomplish this.I appreciate all help!Kevin

In the hopes that someone reading the forum might be able to answer my question - what I'd like to do also is change the default scenery to resemble the same flattened grass type terrain around the airfield - I'd like to do this in order to expand the airfield facilities out more and give me a little more room to work with. Are there a set of tools/utilities that can accomplish this? And if so, are there help files or tutorials on how best to use them? Please see the attached screenshot for an example of what I'd like to alter. Thanks!

Gentlemen,i am sure, this question will always be asked: which scenery creating software is the best ?fs scenery creator airport for windowsfs-architectscenery builder...some of these are freeware, thanks to their generous creators. some are payware, but most of them are still affordable.i used fssc for years and was very satisfied with Derek Leung's masterpiece. alas - nowadays we want photorealistic ground textures derived from pictures, we want soft transitions to the standard scenery (alpha-blending), we want to place objects exactly where we have slewed our aircraft to, so we need a direct connection to the running simulator (fsuipc / fsconnect) - so: which should i…

Quick question just like above. I have browsed all disks and all ( I think) cabinets with various bgl files, but those containing native MS airports scenery files still elude me. Where could they be? Most interested I am in files from FS2002, but I guess they would be in the same locations for both 2k2 and 2k4? Thank you.

I have been running FS9 with FSGenesis USA landclass 109, FSGlobal 2005 Mesh, and LAGO FSE for about 6 months with no trouble. Today I went to New Bight Bahama, MYCB, and opened the airport to add tarmac in taxi area and a Gate Small parking area and saved the created .bgl to the FS9/Addon Scenery/scenery folder. When I tried to go to that airport after exiting and restarting FS9, when I click Fly Now, FS9 immediately closes completely! I removed the AF2_MYCB.bgl file and restarted FS9 I can go to the default airport again. I even tried putting the new .bgl back in the scenery folder and went to MYCA, 50 miles north and flew towards MYCB and as I got close everything …

This might belong in the mesh section, but I'm hoping there's a way to do this without getting into mesh editing. (I don't even know if it can be done with mesh editing.)I have to create a peculiar little terrain feature, which I can best describe as a small low hill that has been carved away on three sides (apparently by human efforts) so that now it's partly surrounded by sheer bluffs. You could picture it as looking like a great big ramp, I guess. The whole thing is not very big - I'd say roughly three city blocks by two - and about 25 to 30 feet high where the bluffs are highest. It may not sound like much; you might wonder why I'm bothering. But it happens to be a v…

Hi all.Does anyone know how stop the re-meshing effect from VTP river polys? The gully depressions are normally great, but the default mesh LOD causes close proximity scenery elements to sink to the river level. This often distorts the apperance of landclass and autogen along the river's edge. Okay for out in the country, but no good for the suburbs. I can re-mesh with G2K4 or flatten areas, but I was hoping there was an easier approach.Any ideas?Cheers,Matthew.

about how to get missing autogen to reappear after a placing a texture in G2k4...LOL :D ...how do I get rid of autogen completely in an area so I can add my own custom buildings? Catching my breath...Thanks,Adam

I have been working on a set of effects for aerial firefighting off and on for some time now. I've compiled a scenery with some forest fire effects, and also added a smoke effect to the plane for slurry drops. The scenery works fine. And the slurry drop effect works fine as well. But if I try to drop the slurry while within view of the fire effects, the slurry effects don't work.Is there some limitation on the use of smoke effects in both scenery and airplane, or a limit on the number of controllers/sprites etc? I've pored through the (sparse) SDK docs and can't seem to find a way to make this work.Is there an alternative manner to make the scenery fire area (i.e. with…

Hi,It was discussed here 3 month ago with no conclusion. So I will try to continue. I wonder how are the frequencies (and names) connected to boundaries. I decompiled bvfc.bgl with bglxml, took first boundary and compiled it back. Then I compared the result with the entry from the original file. Result is attached (RTF file). It's evident that Boundary record in the original file contains both name (MURMANSK) and frequency. It's not described in SDK, maybe bglcomp itself cannot generate such record, but it's there. It's also obvious that data about frequency and name are pretty similar (if not same) as the standard Com record, look what's there:12 00 = ID for COM14 00 00 00…

Deleted all... violates two rules.. first is that there were way too many shots, and they should have been placed in the screen shot forum. Please do not repeat this (these) violations.

Hi all,Just wondering if one of you gifted scenery creators could update the scenery at Batesville, AR (KBVX) in FS2004 to include the new RNAV(GPS) 25 and LOC 07.Is there a place that does this already? I wasn't sure. Any help will be greatly [email protected]

There is a file out, I think it is called 'extra airports' it has all the airport names that FS did not include. I think it was Curt Jardy who came out with it. Any ideas? Thanks.Frank B^)

for converting distance to lat/long amounts? I used to have a link to a post that told me that but I just can't find it anymore. I know that the proportion for latitude will always be the same everywhere on the earth but that distance/longitude value will be larger at the equator. I've decided to write a quick and dirty app that will allow designers to apply an offset to all taxiway signs at once and I need to know if someone wants the signs to move say 3 meters to the east and 5 meters to the north, just how much to add or subtract from the lat/long values before rewriting the file. The app is basically done except for this formula. I could go out and find the darn c…
