  4. I have just bought SimFlyer's GPX-SX package which includes various Bendix gauges. I would like to use a couple of the gauges to replace the default gauges on Aeroworx' B200. I have absolutely no experience in panel design or in editing the panel.cfg file. The changes I would like to make are as follows:SimFlyer's KLN94 GPS unit to replace the default KLN90B GPS. Simflyer's KMD550 multifunction display to replace the default WXR270 ND display. Can anybody tell me in detail exactly what changes I will need to make to the panel.cfg to obtain these results? Or has anybody done the same changes and can send me a copy of your panel.cfg? Both gauges will need to be pop-ups.Than…

I finally managed to get it to work... My gauges now use several threads so that FS does not have to wait until the gauge is drawn to continue its own process. It is a significant performance increase, around 50% on the best case with my Airbus gauges, which are quite complex. It is pleasant to see with the task manager that when fs9 is running with my Airbus, both cores are used (I have a Core2Duo, but it would be even better with a QuadCore). But the question I have is the following:When I set the affinity of fs9 to CPU 0 only, I can see in the task manager that only one core is used, but the frame rate is almost the same (from 43 FPS it decreases to 41).Why is that? How …

I recently purchased a 12.1 4:3 ELO monitor for use in the 727 as the engine stack display. Unknown to me at the time MSFS9 does not support this monitor in portrait mode as changed from the video card set-up program. Maybe I should have written that the monitor in portrait mode doesn't support the resolutions offered by MSFS.MSFS sees this monitor as a widescreen in portrait mode, but the monitor only supports a maximum resolution of 800x600 and those resolutions offered under Hardware Settings are above that.Is it possible to rotate the gauge .bmp(s) in MS paint, save it as the same file, and have this work in in the aircraft after creating (yet) another panel in MS Pan…

Hi all,I would like to start 3D aircraft modeling and would like to hear your opinion on where to start or better what to use. I order to lead your answers in the right direction, I give a little more background info.- the tool should be able to handle FS2004 and FSX exports. Primarily FSX- the tool should give me the ability to create professional looking aircraft, including interior and exterior details with the quality of lets say, the aerosoft Beaver, Twin Otter or the RealAir Scout for example- the tool should give me the ability to create a very detailed good looking virtual cockpitMy ultimate goal is to develop a complete aircraft in the end. If it will be freeware…

I'm trying to get 'piglet' Conrad's Grumman AA5B Tiger working (because that's what I fly in the real world) but I can only get the add-on gauges working, not the main six-pack. He kindly emailed me saying I needed to import the generic gauges. But - and here I reveal the depths of my ignorance - I don't know which files these are, where to find them, or where to put them. Can anyone help this flight sim beginner?

I have installed an FS9 aircraft (ATP by Blue Sky Mines) into FSX, which with a temp 2d panel flies just fine except for the"blacked out" or darkened props circle...ie the normal translucent disc shewn when engines are running is almost black.I have tried swapping another "propdic.bmp" from a default aircraft but without success. I would be most grateful for any advice, please on how to overcome this problemMany thanksGeorge

Just wondering what the best approach would be for an XML APU gauge, I know that I can do it in a few ways just wondering what is the easiest, most feasable, and one that works best with a complicated panel. I've got it so far just wondering what you guys think. This is for FS9, a four engined aircraft, complicated bleed systems etc. Here's what I've got right now :( : <Gauge Name="APU MASTER SWITCH"> <Element> <Select> <Value>(L:APU_MAST_SWITCH, bool)</Value> <Case Value="0"> <Image Name="START.bmp"/> </Case> <Case Value="1"> <Image Name="OFF.bmp"/> …

Hello everybody,I have been recently creating a gauge that displays 'in-flight data', like the screens you see on the back of seats in commercial airlines.I have a few of the aircraft variables showing on the display such as ground speed, altitude and outside temperature, but now i want to access a GPS variable based on the 'distance to destination' based on current aircraft position which I struggle to display properly (i used FlightPlanWaypointRemainingTotalDistance). This value is always showing zero no matter where I am in the world. Do I have to initialise some other variable or is my macro definition wrong? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><SimBase.Doc…

I tried to create a reasonably realistic F-15 flight-dynamics model (changing the .air and aircraft.cfg files, not the 3d model) and I've found that it's not really possible with FSX. Obviously FSX is only a relatively basic simulator but there are certain levels of accuracy which should be easily achievable. The only solution to a realistic model I can think of is to make a gauge (a .dll), but I don't know how.I am referring to the fact that in FSX the rate-of-climb for any aircraft is always far too low. I have said this somewhere else once before but found no interest. If an FSX plane is made with realistic level-speed acceleration the climb-rate is always far too low …

BlackBox2 XML gauge debugging tool has been released and can be freely downloaded from robbiemcelrath.com/blackboxBlackBox is a simple tool for debugging Microsoft Flight Simulator XML gauges. It generates an XML gauge showing the values of any A,E,P, or L variable, allowing you to monitor their values in real time, while flying.Multiple gauge capability has been added in BlackBox version 2. Readouts of selected variables from any or all of the xml gauges in the aircraft panel can viewed simultaneously. With multiple gauge capability, an entire panel of xml gauges can easily be added to create a BlackBox2

I have a quick question about the GDI+ transformations. At this time, I use a world transformation that draws the gauge whatever the gauge size, using the ScaleTransform method of the Graphics class. It works perfect and each GDI+ drawn gauge can be resized without any loss of information. But I was wondering if this has a strong impact on the drawing performance. Do you have the answer? There are ways to avoid the use of a ScaleTransform, but is it necessary?Any information is welcome.Eric

Dear all,More and more aircraft use fly-by-wire. Basicly this means the computer is doing the flying and the pilot by for example a joystick tells the computer how to adjust the flightpath. Fly-by-wire however, atleast for the aircraft (Falcon 7x biz-jet) i am working on, also means some hard limits to for example pitch, angle-of-attack and g-limits. The aircraft also reacts in a different way; if the joystick is in the center the aircrafts computers automaticly maintain the current bank and pitch. So for example it would maintain a 3 degrees nose up and 10 degrees bank without touching the controls. Then when you push the joystick left and let the bank go to 15 degrees a…

I have an Apache AH-64 panel that uses the basic Bell 206B panel. I have a Low Fuel and Rotor Low RPM showing on the Annunciator. There are four fuel tanks (L Aux, Left, Right, and R Aux). There is plenty of fuel in each tank when I view the fuel load in the Fuel Load dropdown window. The Bell fuel gauge shows empty. I even tried to exchange the fuel gauge with another gauge that shows total aircraft fuel in percentage and that gauge shows low too. What do I have to do to get a fuel gauge to show the fuel levels correctly? The N2 rotor speed gauge shows the correct RPM. How can I fix the Low RPM alert? Thanks, regards, Bob.
