Did anyone tried to play with X-Plane?How does it compare with FS 2002?

I downloaded Mike Stone's Caribou twin prop cargo plane and for some reason I can't get it started. With auto-start the left prop will start to go and then cough and die, followed by the same thing with the right. I switched panels in case that was the problem but I still couldn't get the darn engines to catch.Any ideas? I really want to fly this thing!Thanks

Well, these do work for me at least...I love having all AI airlines of PAI's wonderful packages, but I found that having AI set at 100% was degrading performance waaay too much. FPS ever drop below 10 but then again I do get some stuttering and I like playing a smooooth FS :(So this is what I recently did in order to improve FPS with AI on...I realised I don't really care for reflective textures on AI planes, they look great without them, so I changed all textures to DXT1, cutting down their size in half.Second, I'm not a big AI GA fan, mainly because the planes, being that detailed and that many around the world, tend to degrade performance more than PAI planes. I've had my CH Pro Pedals (gameport) for years now and have been quite pleased with them. However, I've recently noticed that full (a/c) rudder deflection is actually achieved at just over half full pedal deflection.This seems to me to be a waste - I'd like to be able to use the full range of travel to achieve full rudder deflection and thereby more precise rudder control.Has anyone else noticed this? Does this happen with the USB Pro Pedals or is it a gameport issue? Is there any thing I can do to "fix" the pedals?CheersRobbie

A while back I had FStraffic for FS2000, I was away from simming for a year and now have FS2002 and would like to fill the skies again. Looking at the web site I see no reference to 2002 compatibilty. Any recommmendations for this.Thanks in advance

exciting?I remember FUIII... the thunderstorms in that were WILD. You would see the clouds light up from the lightning, & if you got caught, all hell would brake loose!!!!! The turbulence could rip a wing off!! & when close to a lighting bolt, the whole screen would light up!!!, The wind would be howling.. & the Thunder would get louder when you got closer!!!! etc etc...Do ANY enhancements exist for FS2002 to spice up thunderstorms ?? Just to let you all know that i've now managed to sort out ALL my issues that i've had in the past concerning the use of my Saitek X36 with Win98SE.I've now gone to XP pro. and all the problems with the joystick (ie. rudder axis, dodgy digital axis readings) have now gone.I'm using the drivers that came with XP, as they work fine. I'd prefer not to risk having the old problem again with Saitek's drivers.I think the problems with the Win98SE system were due to the conflicts between old drivers and recient technology ie. FS2002.Hope this is good helpful info for any others out there who are experiencing similar problems with the X36.Good luckWill

The Wideview site says that multiple computers can be used to create virtual cockpits with multiple monitor support, using networked PCs. According to them, there is virtually no limit on how many PCs can be linked together with each of them being configured to show a particular view, including outside views, maps, instruments, and almost anything. My question is this, and it's a theoretical one. If I have 1 PC running at 1Ghz and get X number of frames per second using FS2002 for a given view, and I decide to use 2 PCs (each an idential 1Ghz system), one for the panel and one for an outide view, will my frames per second increase significantly since I have taken two ta…

Does anyone know of a aircraft/gauge uninstaller for FS2002 that works in Windows Xp Pro? I think I've tried all of the ones in the library. The latest I used is called airgau41. As with the others,this one removed many gauge files used by other active aircraft, including all of my Lear gauge files. Also, it did not remove all gauge files not being used.This seems to be a problem with Xp.Any help appreciated,dek

You have to download this plane not for the visual model(although nice) but for the very realistic flight dynamics(The package including of course FDs is designed by an experienced HAF F-5 pilot after many flight tests in order to make the best flight dynamics achievable within the limitations of FS2002)...I thing it's worth trying it this special add-on.

Here's a big thank you to its creator, Ernt Bosshard. the file is available in the avsim library. I took a flight yesterday in a convair 560 at 18000 from lugano to geneva, across the Swiss Alps with deep valleys and tiny villages below. The scenery was gorgeous, with smooth transitions. I can't wait to take a vfr flight at lower altitudes and explore this beautiful country from the sim air.Sherm

I'm not sure what the heck I installed, but suddenly 50% of my airports don't give me an option for choosing runway / starting position on the "change current location" menu. The dragdown bar is locked out. HmmmmmAnyone else here of this or know what's doing it? I disabled all my add-on scenery and no luck. Strange.

Hello,When I undock a FS panel to drag to the second monitor, I get the window border with the panel name, is there a way to hide it ?I found some performance drop in some windows, like trying to undock the ATC window to the second monitor...another problem I had is using the detonator (GF4TI4200) driver 40.72 and antialias on, the ATC text comes hard to read...any idea ?Thanks,Ulisses

Hi all, i've just changed my op to XP Home running MSFS 2002 Pro with 3 monitors and have a couple of questions to ask .....Firstly ... when trying to undock a window or even try to rightclick on a full screen nothing happens, i find that i've got to come out of full screen to get a task bar menu has anyone got a solution to this problem ....Secondly ... is anyone having problems with using the instruction station on a different PC .... it seems to startup ok and i can change the parameters but this only last about 10 mins before it crashes...Thanks for your help

Like many, I have no time to utilize PAI. I assume it is a fine site with good stuff, but I dont have the time, so I plopped down my $$ for My Traffic and proceeded to watch the traffic at 2X and 4X speed on my FS2002 over several hours. I went to a multitude of large and smaller airports everywhere world wide. I can't speak to everyone's favorite field, but what I did see was a very nice spread of properly placed major airlines, Package delievery airlines and general aircraft and where they were supposed to be. I have an Audigy "Gamer" and I am getting sound stutters when ATC is accessed. Is there a setting in the Audigy control panel to stop this? I have tried all the tweaks suggested in this forum to no avail. I hope I am not stuck with this annoying problem. While up at the lake for the conference I was amazed at the projection device Marty used for the contest. HELP! I just had a clean install of WinXP home on my computer. I have a AMD 1.4GHz, 640MB RAM, GeForce3 Ti500 card. 5 min. into fs2002, the computer reboots itself. I've download the latest drive for my video card and it still reboots after about 5 mins. into the sim. Can someone help me with this problem? Thanks in advance
