The repaint of Mike Stone's Grumman Goose. "Polynesian Princess" of "Bali Hai Island Excursions" is now available. I believe this is one of my best repaints yet. I had no mental picture when I started so even I was surprised with the end result.Pics at: http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID43/1158.htmlLook for "Lulu" and her music panel too. Configured for the Goose. Hope you Grumman lovers like this one.Cheers!Heather

Has anyone noticed this, or is this a "need to change a setting" thing?MS2K2 is still in daylight savings time vice standard time. IE: Denver still shows a -6 hour difference to UTC/ZULU/GMT Where is the 'real' world it is a -7 hour difference. Did I miss something? Couldn't find anything in the settings, nor the MSFS help.Darn mainlanders and thier playing with the clocks... LOL :-outtahttp://publish.hometown.aol.com/p3superb/images/675-2fs.jpg

Well guys I'm sorry to be posting this message here but I'm sure it's something that most of us have to deal with. What can we do to make the Windows XP boot faster? My case for example, I got 512 ddr ram, an Athlon XP 1800 processor, a Soyo Dragon motherboard, a 7200 rpm hard drive... I unloaded almost everything from my startup (using msconfig), there's absolutely no reason for my computer to be so damn slow on startups!!! It takes ages to start!Any suggestions, ideas?

Does anyone remember in FS98 and FS2000 you could include comments while you recorded a video? Is this still available in FS2002?? I can't find/remember the key to add comments into videos.I would really like to add comments because with out them newbie pilots have no clue what is going on or what your trying to teach them. + without comments this video feature is pretty useless for training purposes...Help!Erichttp://www.flycpva.org/images/msgbanner4.jpghttp://www.cpavirtual.orghttp://www.flysva.orghttp://Thai.virtualATP.orghttp://JAL.virtualATP.org

I can't be the only one who has an anklebiter who, if Daddy is to be allowed to play on his "poota", insists that at least a few of her favourite characters should be there. So we have Joe and Steve piloting Blue's Lear, for example:http://www.swiremariners.com/blue.jpgNot to mention, my daughter herself in a certain ultralight, Daddy in a Cessna, a Dora The Explorer storybook instead of a chart on the seat of a certain Bell 47 helicopter in the VC, etc. My little Katherine is pretty handy on both yoke and joystick now, although she's some years off reaching the pedals.Shigeru Tanaka has, of course, done marvellous things with flying dogs, Harry Potter broomsticks and s…

Hey guys,How close are these aircraft in terms of performance? I looked up specs on both and they seem pretty darn close. I think you guys know where I'm going with this, I know it's not realistic, but damn! the ERJ is just such a fantastic panel.LobaeuxThe poster would like to apologize for any embaressement or discomfort originating from the use of profanity and said poster has been sacked.

This has been danced around a few times but never answered to a point I can understand. How do you change an altitude selection while in a climb or descent? For instance I am climbing at 2000FPM to a selected altitude of 23000. ATC clears me to 31000... I set 31000 in ALT and it still levels off at 23000. If I cycle the ALT button it will select the new altitude, but I have to hit VS again and it goes back to the default 600 FPM climb. What is the proper sequence for selecting a new altitude when in a climb... keeping a steady 2000FPM climb without bouncing back down to 600? I've tried to read the manual, but can't find a clear answer. Also, the plane that comes with the p…

Apologies to those who struggled with the checklist voice command in SpeechBuddy. My bad. Bug in grammer rule file. Now fixed.SpeechBuddy version 2.1 (beta 1) at http://www.x-plane.info/billy/speechbuddy.It fixes the checklist and some other errors. So now at least it should respond when you whisper that you want a checklist.. ;-)Includes various new features (such as native X-Plane support, Airbus and Boeing checklists based on actual United and BA manuals, etc.)v2.1 will be released within a week or two - I am wanting to add things like V speed call outs and so on for 2.1.

I'm new to the forum but shouldn't we not have to tweak our cards for an application to perform. For myself, I have a Pentium 2.0, 768 RAM and a Ti 4600 card (Visiontek).Do you think MS could have fixed this with a patch?Tim

If in FS2K2 the developers were able to create contrails on planes then it shouldn't be that much more involved to create wake and exhaust. By exhaust I mean the clear gases/heat you see behind jets and not the smoke that someone has already added effects for. I'm also not saying that creating wake is as simple as the effect of contrails but could not be that far from it in principle. I know that active sky is planning on releasing wake but I was just thinking that MS should also include it in the next release. With Active cam enabled you would really get a sense of wake if you got into it now.Kilstorm

Hi,I am using FS 2002 Pro. On my PC, everything looks fine... I can enjoy the nice graphics and it is really cool. Now I wanted to install it on my brother's PC, but the ground textures look a bit... well, how can you say... they look very bad. Just have a look at the attachement, then you'll see. I copied all of the settings, but it did not help... any idea?

Has anyone ever had FS Meteo generate anything OTHER than Cumulus layers? I can't recall ever seeing a stratus or t-storm cloud layer created by FS Meteo. I've had FSUIPC generate random rain and lightning "on the fly" in addition adding a cirrus layer on occassion - but never have I seen FS Meteo choose a stratus layer over a cumulus one. What does ActiveSky do here?J

Hi,This is a strange one! When using the excellent FSW SE cloud utility, I only 'bog standard' clouds until the aircraft is airborne, then I get the full blown '3D' versions. If I'm in spot view with the AC on the ground, and use CTRL-Q to open up another spot window, and then advance it to an AI aircraft with CTRL-W then the clouds in the main view become proper FSW clouds. BUT, when I return to my AC in the CTRL-Q view, or close it, they instantly morph to 'bog standard' again.Anyone any ideas?Cheers,Gareth Evans

Two outstanding programs to keep the skies filled to your own delight. My question is this...can you use either program alone for adding either PAI flight plans or 3rd party AI traffic. In other words, can I add PAI flight plans, aircraft, airports, etc. into my TTools folder and can I add 3rd party traffic into my PAI folder? Or, should these two great programs be used separately? I notice both programs utilize the de-compiler and compiler, but I wasn't sure if I would mess up my traffic.bgl by using only one program for ALL my AI traffic. Confusing question? It's easier to speak it than to type it.Any way, all answers are appreciated. Thanks,Mike

Hello :)I've got a new computer as you can see in the information below, but I've got a little problem with anti aliasing. When I enable anti aliasing 2x or 4x from the Nvidea display menu and I go back to Flight simulator, the ATC messages, ATIS messages etc. are a little bit screwed up. I'm getting a really strange kind of font (bad readable) When I turn of anti aliasing from the Nvidea menu my fonts are normal again.I'm using the 40.72 detonator drivers for windops XP. Has anybody had similar problems or does anybody know where this problem is related to?thanks in advanceregards,Jasper :-wavenew system specs:P4 2.4768MB RAMGeForce 4 Ti440080 GB HarddiskDVD-BurnerWin XP…

I finally found the courage to download some of the wonderful aircraft I've been seeing on the screenshots forum. I've had mixed results. The Dreamfleet 737 (payware) is very nice. My only problem is the lack of reverse thrusters so I can stop the darn thing on a short runway. Does FS2002 have a reverse thruster function and, if so, what is/are the keyboard strokes? The reverse thrusters on the Dreamworks quadrant are cosmetic only.Part II - I've also downloaded two aircraft from the AVSIM library and have had a couple of problems as follows:1. The POSKY 767-300ER looks great but wants to settle into the runway when I load it or try to land it. It also appears to burn whe…

I noticed a strange behavior of the flight director in the following conditions:- autopilot is NOT armed- altitude hold is NOT armed on the autopilot- flight director is NOT armedNow, if I arm the altitude hold on the autopilot, without arming the autopilot, then the flight director turns ON !!And worse than that: if I turn the flight director off, the altitude hold turns off on the autopilot !!I had never noticed this before, and I find it quiet strange.Do you have the same behavior?Do you know a way to change this behavior? Thanks for any info !!

My last 2 IFR filed flightplans were from Franfurt to Zurich and Paris to Schiphol, and in both cases approximately 15 minutes into each flight, at altitude, ATC for no apparent reason cancelled both IFR flights and I was instructed to continue VFR. Is this just a coincidence or a frequent occurance, and what are the reasons ATC cancels IFR? Thanks in advanceMike

Is there anyway to overide what seems to be a speed limit in FS2K2?Whilst experimenting with some Air & config files for a Hypersonic craft I am working on, I seem to hit an absolute limit of:Mach 4.65 (2666kts Ground speed)It's proving to be a bit of a pain in the #####!... I've noticed though that giving an engine an unrealistic thrust (In the Millions of pounds) does seem to break through this 'barrier', but of course makes for completely uncontrollable flight.Any ideas on how to 'switch off' this floor in the sim.RegardsAlP.S. I DO NOT want to specify the engine type as 'rocket' either as a fix.

Does anyone know of a good C-46 panel? All I can find is an FS98 panel and it is dated! Thanks for any help.Don

Seems to have cured the remaining visual anomalies that were introduced in XP SP1 as well (specifically with FSAA). Nice."I just received, but have NOT yet installed my Windows XP SP1 and I noticed in the above quote and its "curring anomalies that were introduced in XP SP1." Please advise what these anomalies were. Now, I'm not sure if I want to install the XP SP1... if it ant broke, dont fix it. Thanks jerry

I've found that after I've been flying Mel's great B744 (with PSS panel) for over an hour and landing, that my AI aircraft (PAI) have no textures. I restart FS2002, and all appears OK again. Any ideas?P4 1.8G Northwood512M PC-2100 DDRGeForce 3 64M Ti200Thanks,Bruce.
