Hello all,Finally got my new machine running the way I want it (very sweet). Then I made a huge mistake and ran the defrag process (first time running defrag on this box). Now Frame rates are where they have always been, which is good, but there is a noticable "pause" when panning around scenery and on final approach to "moderate to high traffic" airports. Also, the ATC sound is now very choppy. As you can see by my specs I have plenty of horsepower. Frame rates before this tragedy where locked at 25 with a dip into the low teens at high traffic areas. The defrag really screwed things up.I am assuming that I am going to have to delete and re-install FS2002 and possibly dr…

High to all,do you use the fantastic Dash 7 (Cargo) from Milton Shupe? What a bird. With the new cargo version there are special spray effects included. Here starts my problem. The effects did not appear. All settings are as required (i hope so).Weather with rain or snow, speed more than 40 knots and the runway indicator in the panel indicates "wet concrete". But the spray effect did not appear. What is going wrong?I installed the files in my effects library and the bmp,s in the effects texture library. Anyone with same experiance or any idea to come over?Any answer is very much appreciated.Best to youAndreas

I have Windows XP Corporate installed on my C: drive and FS2002 and add-ons installed on my F: drive.Unfortunately, on Monday I developed significant problems with the operating system that could not be repaired by restore points or any other methods so I was forced to reformat my C: drive and reinstall Windows XP.My problem is that my FS2002 is fairly complex; the last time I went through a similar exercise it took me a week to get all the add-ons installed and running properly. Is there a way I can somehow write the FS2002 entries to the Windows XP registry without having to reinstall all my FS software? Thanks for any advice.

The POSKY 7673 aircraft are superb but I have found this problem recurring over and over. There are many airports in FS2002 where there are "bumpy" ramps and these POSKY a/c can't handle them. I have tested two of them (Delta and Alitalia versions) and in each case as soon as a bumpy ramp is encountered the nosewheel collapses or, at the very least, if the brakes are applied on such ramps the nosewheel immediately collapses.I tried 12 other aircraft types on the same ramps. These a/c bump around like crazy too but the nosewheels stay in situ.Is there any way to fix this (other than fixing the numerous ramps!!!)??? as these planes are too good to let go.Pat

Does anyone use DF734 to fly in Canada? I am trying to find data for SIDS/STARS to and from 'large' Canadian airports such as CYYZ, CYUL, CYVR and CYYC. They are not in the FMC. I checked in FSBuild flight planner and it shows a SID from CYUL, however it is not in the FMS. Does anyone know if there is a data update for the FMS that might have Canadian SIDS and STARS? I tried downloading the latest AIRAC from navdata.com and I can't download it at all. I'm not even sure if that has anything to do with approaches and arrivals anyway. OR, maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree and Canadian airports generally don't have SIDS and STARS, but that I doubt!Anyhow, Thanks. Any insigh…

jerrycwo4Thanks to all for the info on the beaver ( old Fs2000 "3-pack"). I finally got them installed in Fs2002 but the strangest thing happened for awhile, when I would fly the "FLOAT" model and switch from the 'spot' to the 'cotpit' view, the sound would stop and the motor would shut off???? I rebooted my computer and then it started acting normal. Just made a great flight from PALR to PAGB. Dave Erickson has just updated about 50 airfields in Alaska. You can find the new updates in the AVSIM Library. Look in search for: Fs2002 /Scenery under "Dave Erickson". The file is "Alaskan Commuter #9". ( I made the inclosed map for him).jerry

I have just uploaded a file, KCVGv2u.zip to correct the appearance of trees painted on black squares when mip mapping is enabled. Now, whether you have mip mapping enabled or not, the trees will appear as they should when using KCVGpcV2.

Those of you lucky enough to practice single engine approaches in twins, what flap setting is normally used since it seems wise to keep the speed and RPM up to prevent a torque roll if you have to add power, or do you use full flaps at a higher final approach speed?

Hey everyone, most of my aircraft want to start moving by themselves...not full throttle but some of the larger jets (3rd party) will get up to 30-40 kts or so. I know its not my Yoke/Throttle calibration problems, I've tried resetting it several times. Anyone else experience this? For example, when you're landing at Daytona International Airport, the superspeedway is just off of the airport property, and yet all MSFS2K2 has is a ring of road texture HINTING at the speedway. Can I download anything that has the speedway as a scenery?

Hi all you FSMeteo aficionados....I haven't use FSMeteo for a while but decided to update it recently following an e-mail from Marc. There has been a lot of enthusiasm lately for ActiveSky 2002 so decided to compare the two. Both programs seem to work fine but I have noted a tendency for FS2002 to stutter during weather updates both while on-line and, in the case of FSMeteo, off-line as well.Is this par for the course? If so, how do the rest of you get round it? The only measure I can think of is to lenthen the time between updating - does not stop the stutters but at least they happen less frequently.Mike :-wave

I have a 747-400 panel which I have created, with the default 747 bitmap as a starting point. It is a complete overhaul of the panel, with new main instrument gauges for better frame rates. Radar TCAS gauge, full pedestal, a full working overhead... in essence, about as complete as you can get without going the payware route to get the PSS. :-)It is practically finished, but due to it's many components, I really want it to be run through it's paces before release.I need 2-3 EXPERIENCED big iron 747 drivers to beta test the panel. I need to know if the installation procedure was clear, if my manual and documentation is sufficient, if the panel works as advertised, if t…

I swear I searched AVSIM and the other forum, but couldn't find what I'm sure I read in a post in the past month.I need to slow down my PAI aircraft, they are just too darn tootin' fast.If I remember correctly, it had to do with the cruise_speed setting in the aircraft.cfg?Did anyone ever deduce how AI aircraft interpret this setting?ie: the PAI A300 cruise_speed = 477 (which I assume = TAS)Today I was westbound at FL390 with a 90 knot headwind, just managing to get 370-some knots GS (I believe my TAS was approx 450'ish),and I was getting passed by all the AI aircraft who were flying at 420 to 520 kts GS.So, are the AI using the cruise_speed setting as GS?Has anyone come …

I've been trying to find an answer in previous FSMeteo related posts, but no luck. My problem is this: FSMeteo never changes clouds gradually, it always goes immediately from say overcast to clear. Reading other posts, it sound like it should gradually go from overcast, to broken, to scattered to clear. Is there a setting that will alow me to do that? Thanks in advance!
