The maximise frames rates I close down the Icons along the bottom of my screen before launching Flight Simulator.When I've finished flying I reboot to make sure that I don't forget to open something that may be important.Is there a simple utility to close the background programs simultaneously before launch FS then open them simultaneously after finishing with FS?And if there is such a utility are there any prgrammes that should NOT be tamperered with by closing down?

Hi Everyone - I haven't "simmed" since the days of FS 98 (Please forgive me) although I am a fan of IL2 Sturmovik. Anyway I am now ready to climb back into the cockpit of a commercial aircraft but am unsure as to which version to go for. Now I am slightly limited in the hardware department - Athlon XP 1700, 512 Meg DDR RAM, Radeon 9600 XT for basics - based on that small snippet of information which do you think I should aim for FS 2002 or FS 2004 ???Many thanks and apologies if this is a much asked question.

Now that the SDKs have been released, I would love to see a Special Effects add-on (i.e. wing-tip vortices, effects of thrust on wet runways etc), all automatically detected and activated by using XML programing.-I just don't have the talent to do it myself.

Does anyone know how to disable the antenna's in the sim, and the smoke effect from smokestacks. I'm not sure but I would think there is something in the scenery.cfg to do this. Any help is appreciated!Thanks.Hornit

This problem has plagued me for some time. The wind in FS2002 is stuck at 360 and 0 kts. When I try to modify it in the weather option, the wind layer extends from 0 to 90,000 feet (or whatever the FS2002 atmosphere tops out at) and the buttons to add a wind layer are inactive.If I change the wind direction and speed, the changes don't occur in the sim.Reinstalling hasn't helped. Hi all,It is a donationware flight planning and Moving Map application for both Windows PC and PocketPC. It is for real world pilots but looks pretty good as a FS utility. I hooked it up to a second PC and ended up getting a slick moving map display. I used Pete D's GPSOUT utility to emulate a GPS device.For my test I started out at North Central in RI and headed to Boston in the stock 172. The moving map worked fine and it even poped up a message saying I would be entering Boston's ATC in 5mins and gave me the freq to tune Boston ATC.I've only played around a little bit so far but it looks like it has a lot of features for flight planning etc. What it won't do is send a …

Hi, I'm posting in the general forum as I think my questions are general in nature. I'm in the process of making new airfiles and cfg for the Meljet 747-400 with all 3 engine variants to use in FS9 and will be available direct from me for free for anyone who would like them. I've already done most of the work for the PW engines version but for now I need to fine tune the dynamics. I have had good feedback from someone who is testing for me. Been away for many months and just reinstalled FS9. Can't remember what to change to make the wing tip lights visable from the barron cockpit. Did a search but no luck. If someone could tell me again how to do it would be appreciated!!!!Thanks!!

I have saved a bunch of flights in FS9 which I plan on sharing with anyone who wants them (should be in the library by Friday, as an aside). They are a series of ten legs along a much longer trail, er...flight path...;)HOWEVER...I want to make the flights such that they contain a minimum amount of information, meaning I don't want someone who loads the flight to have all of my settings replace their settings. I installed my mini network with my new PC and my old notebook that works with Win98, and then installed WideFS and tried it.The program works well because I use Active Sky in the second computer with no problem. But for some reason I am not able to connect to Squawkbox. I do the following (remember I use FS2002):Open WideFS in the secondary PCOpen FS2002 and create a flight in the main PC.Open Multiplayer session in FS2002.Then in the secondary I open Squawkbox host and Squawkbox main.Then in Squawkbox main I start my search and then I have the problem. I recently moved my FS( to a seperate hard drive. I went to add a new package from project AI tonite but the installer wont allow me to redirect the path to where I now have FS9 located. A re-install of the installer didn't help because the issue is embeded in my registry somewhere. I searched my registry but found no entry that was relevant to the path location.Anyone know how I can change the path so the installer finds my new location of FS9?TIAJim

Hi all FS addon developers,I'm the guy who made 'GA-Traffic', 'AI-Contrails' and 'FS2k4 METAR'. After AVSIM offers us now the possibility to get a place in ther forum I have another idea I liked to see here. I call it 'Developer' forum. This place should be open for all, but should focus on developing addons, test them and so on. As I started my last project I tried to get ALPHA/BETA testers for it and have posted a invoice at several places, but got only little response. I've searched around but have been unsuccessful at finding any flight plans for some of the dominant US cargo carriers. I've found some Polar Air Cargo plans, but would like to get my hands on some UPS, FedEx, Evergreen, Airborne Express, etc., etc., etc. Anyone happen to know where I could find some/all of these? It doesn't matter if they are accurate or not, just need to populate some of those barren cargo ramps with some heavies. Especially SDF, MEM, IND, ORD, JFK, etc., etc. Thanks.
