Hi all,Typically I only have an hour or two aat a time to fly. I've been mostly using the ATR72 and B200 as they are "reasonable" for flights of 1-1.5 hrs.I would really like to get either the 737 or 767 to enjoy the systems modeling, but I can't extend my personal flying time any. While I won't come to any harm using a jet for hops, it does seem a bit unrealistic to use, say, the PMDG747 for these kind of flights. Clearly lots of airlines do 1hr jumps in 737's (Westjet?). What about the 767?Any advice or suggestions? I here the LDS has a great save system which perhaps would help. Thanks,

I've located some really great water and cloud textures but can't seem to find any decent roadway and hiway files. What is everyone using for these? Is it better to look at the payware scenery than spending time trtying to find decent freeware? Appreciate some input.captjac

Well, after 6 months, I tried it for the 2nd time. I read both manuals(for the 2nd time) and I printed out a 52 page, highly detailed (with color screen shots) tutorial done, embarrassingly(to me) and amazingly, by a very bright 17 year old high school boy, Fred Clauson. Geese! This time I never even got the engines started! There were two separate discrepancies(switch identification) between the tutorial(or my interpretation of it) and my overhead panel. I have v1.3 and his tutorial was based on v1.2 so that might have had something to do with it, but it really doesn't matter. Anyway, after about 30-45 min, and before the engines were even started, the master caution lig…

I used the FSCommander demo for a while and then following various suggestions from reviews and user comments, in the end went and purchased FSBuild. Now I feel that i rushed it a bit. Please give me your honest opinions, dear simmers, did I make the right choice? FSBuild seems a bit lacking visually but it sure is powerful. FSCommander on the other hand has a great map and displays all features, but still needs a registered FSUIPC...I appreciate your comments.

Hi Everyone. Just had an interesting one. Landed EWR with a 60 degree 20 knot cross wind in the Kittyhawk 738. Crabbed great - lined up centerline and turned off the Yaw Damper at about 700 ft agl.Touched down, kicked the rudder to straighten and absolutely no rudder response. Directional control returned about 77 knots.Any thoughts on why or how to modify the cfg file to correct for this? Thanks in advance.Chris

My other hobby apart from MSFS is racing sims. My current favourite is rFactor from Image Space Incorporated. To gain the maximum I guess tactile experience at an affordable price, I bought the Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel and pedal set.To finally get to the point, does anyone here feel there would be an enhancement to the flying experience with the implementation of force feedback in a flight sim and if so what effects could be replicated?I know this has been discussed before, but I thought that in the run in to the next version of MSFS, and in the unlikely event that we were not at a feature set complete stage yet, it might be an avenue for the simming community to …

Posted on the front page today. We have also opened a forum in the Hangar Chat area...Arturo Weiss, Airside TV Partner, and Tom Allensworth, Publisher, AVSIM Online, today announced the formation of a partnership between the two companies. The agreement between both groups includes the development of simulation video content for the newly co-branded FlightsimTV.com website. Tom had this to say about this new relationship; "AVSIM is pleased to announce the formation of this partnership with Airside TV. This partnership will provide the simulation community, and its commercial vendors, with enhanced access to aviation and simulation videos, interviews, product reviews (and …

I've recently been experiencing a problem where the white text in my ATC radio menu suddenly disappears. I can still call up the ATC menu and access comm commands by pressing numbers on my keyboard, but I can't see what I'm selecting because of the missing text. Also, when the ATC text goes, so does the text in the red "Pause" bar that appears at the bottom of the screen when you pause the sim. Once the text is gone, I have to restart FS2004 to restore it.Is this a memory issue? Note that I do not get any kind of memory error; I have however been recently trying out some aircraft with CPU-intensive gauges around the Chicago area. Also, on one occasion when I lost the text,…

I switched from FS2000 to FS2004 and now I miss the possibility of smooth moving with the observing aircraft around my main aircraft. There are only some predefinded view positions, set by pressing the number keys. Has anyone an idea how to set the computer to the FS2000 moving mode ? Thanks for help

I have the LAGO Maddog, and enjoy this aircraft a lot.I see the update on the website, but as far as I can tell this is just an updated installer that is now available for current and future purchasers (ie. there is now upgrade patch). Am I right with that assumption? Any help from other maddog pilots is most appreciated :)Thanks- Bruce.

For those of you who (like me) might have missed this one.It was originally created by AFG for FS2002, but seems to work very well in FS9.Great for 737s, MD-80s etc.The small patch is basically a panel.cfg which replaces the one in FS9/aircraft/default/panel, ie., the one which sets up the default mini panel. It is currently designed to show the HUGS only in jets, but it can be easily adapted for use in turboprops and even piston-engined aircraft.Using the HUGS is simplicity itself. You have a choice of a full display, one (less cluttered) for instrument approaches and another for hand-flying the approach.Read the manual, locate the click spots, hit "W" to activate, and sw…

I was just over in Japan on holidays and was poking around Tokyos electronics district-Akihabara. Happened accross a software store the sold all kinds of addons, books, charts etc. Books on the 747 that looked really great but unfortuately all in Japanese. They also had several flying stations setup with massive monitors yokes and pedals. If you are interested in Japanese simming and are over there. I reccomend checking it out.CheersGraham

i have been installing some afcads that will open up multiple runways for t/o and landings but then i also noticed that it completely whacks out the built in fs9 atc.for example. and this is just one, most of them do something like this, i have imagine simulations kden installed and have gotton a d/l afcad here for that specific scenery and when atc tells me im going to land on visual 12, well kden doesnt have a 12, one time atc told me to land on 20 at ksfo, well ksfo doesnt have 20, it has 19L/R but no 20... so what gives? why does it do thatdo i have something setup wrong?thanksciao!Brian S

All, Been flying the 727-200 and 737-200 a great deal - my favorites... Mostly the Cantu/Probst freeware versions but recently I have added the Dream Fleet version to the stable... Probably the two most used airliners I have... I still have some issue getting the FD and autopilot to work correctly - so I think I am missing something... Gross Conceptual Error ??? :) First off - what is really the difference between the two ??? I know the FD actually puts the needles on the attitude indicator for visual reference - but is that it ??? I CAN get the autopilot to lock heading (MAN/VOR) and I can get it to lock altitude... What I can't seem to get to work is …

Has anyone tried out AlphaSim's F-8 Crusader yet? See http://www.alphasim.co.uk/index2.html The video looks great.

Anyone who has made anything like this. I really like those planes and I would make addons myself if I had time and knowledge.A SAS texture to the 737-700 experience would be great. It's a plane that has the "be there" feeling. The addon Connie (Forgot the filename.) has a very good panel also but no VC.

All of a sudden today I have this impulse to find a good DC-10. I currently have the SGA model which IMO is fantastic but lately as I have become accustomed to "proper" panels (i.e. PMDG, PSS, etc) with FMC and systems simulation the freeware panel I have for the DC10 isn't cutting it anymore. I found the Aerosim Classic Airliners 2 package and saw that it included a DC-10. Sweet. But I have not been able to find much info regarding the product. Maybe you guys can help me out?To start off- What liveries are available for the DC-10? Specifically I want NWA's OC (red body and grey top) and NC (silver body and red tail) liveries. To be honest, that's all I really care…
