As an old hand on FS (since 1985), I have been flying FSX for a number of years now. I have FSX/SE installed with numerous aircraft and airports. Just recently, I have been experiencing a weird phenomenon. My default start is my Tupolev Tu-154 sitting on runway 5 at Geneva (LSGG) airport. This default flight has worked well for a long time. Today, I loaded FSX using the default flight and it loaded normally. I then decided to change airports to Luqa (Malta, LMML) and was surprised to see that the aircraft was at 1400 feet above the runway threshold. 1400 feet is the altitude of Geneva airport. If you are using an FSX model AI aircraft, such as from FAIB, does it matter if the textures for it are different formats? For example, one paint being DDS and the other being 32 bit BMP??? Is it better to create two different folders for the same AI model and keep all DDS textures sets in one of them and all BMP textures sets in the other??? Many of the FSX paints offered on AVSIM are .bmp files, and only a minority seem to be native FSX .dds A slightly different question, but related, is "Does it matter in FSX if you use a .dds prop texture to replace an FS.9 prop texture while retaining the .bmp textures for the particular paint? I've used Traffic 360 for years, and it's perfectly fine, but I was wondering if there was a newer alternative to the just flight offering? I'd like a decent selection of aircraft and airlines.

Hi guys, I have been tweaking my fsx.cfg lately and recently adopted some changes based on recommendations. None of those that I am aware of (AM fix, bufferpools, the usual suspects.) would cause my pilot log to stop working. is there a setting in the config files that turns pilot log on or off? Well, I finally got a new computer that can run FSX wide open with the PMDG 737's installed and it's truly a wonderful experience. So I started adding a few scenery files to FSX and ran across the 54530-URSS-Sochi-FSX-Reload-V1.1 scenery and thought I'd give it a try. For me, it was a little tricky as I'm not too familiar with loading files and adding to the scenery in FSX, but I did get it to work, but as I have learned, there is always a glitch somewhere. lol Grass on the runways...and ghost runways (the ghost runways actually look kind of cool, like reminiscence of an abandoned airfield) just offset from the actives. Hi, Please can anyone help. I recently installed WIN10 and re-downloaded FSXSE. It worked no problems at all. Subsequently - and I think there was a WIN10 update (?the big new edition), FSXSE simply freezes at 100% scenery loading. I thought it might have been my USB SAITEK controls, but I disconnected all of them, reinstalled FSXSE and exactly the same error occurred. PLEASE help!! THanks Dave

I am stumped. This just started a few weeks ago after I updated my AMD Radeon graphics driver. I have addon aircraft downloaded from the library that are completely white - no external fuselage textures at all; some with partial textures - fuselage textures but no gear/strut textures OR vice versa, and others show all fuselage, gear and strut textures. I'm trying this embedded code for the first time hoping it shows you what I see. Any advice or insights is greatly appreciated.

I've seen a number of suggestions for "must have" payware add-on's including VRS F/A-18. So I decided to check it out. After checking out their website, I want to get it. I also see they have a revolutionary add-on module called TacPac aimed at military add-on's for FSX that allows you to do many things I never thought were possible in FSX. Now the hitch. I thought I saw somewhere in my searching that TacPac does not play well with Windows 10. I looked on their site and forum and can't find anything regarding compatibility with Windows 10. Hi Guys, I'm a non technical user, but if someone explains in detail (don't make any assumptions other than file locations and that I can make simple edits using notepad), I'm hoping I can get this somewhat annoying glitch worked out of my add-on Moffet scenery - the one that's available here in the library. What's happening is that everything looks normal on my approach, but at around 500 feet large chunks of runway start to disappear, replaced with flat ground texture until the only asphalt left visible is where the taxiways intersect. I installed the Q400 a few days ago and I love it. It's really good modelled and I like to fly them. I managed to get p3d v3 very smooth with all aircrafts, including the pmdg 777 witch is quite heavy to run. But, with the Q400 my frame jump and the frametimes is all over the place. With the 777 it's a smooth line. Why does the Q400 get my sim to stutter.

Just a heads up for you Mexico fliers. I have been working on upgrading many airports for my Southwest Airlines flights that I do. As Southwest now travels to many locations south of the border I have been poking around to see what is out there and there isn't much so I decided to give some LUV to Mexico airports starting with MMSD-Los Cabos International. This is a photoreal project covering about 220 square miles of terrain and blended in to my custom area landclass seamlessly. I haven't flown in ages and ages and I figured it was time to do all the various updates and hop back in. I think I might be forgetting something, but I've messed around even flipped the PC/PS3 buttons but nada. What else can I check?

My Duke B60 V2 has a weird behavior on Cold & Dark startup. The aircraft loads with all switches, batteries, etc . in OFF position as it should, but Props are turning slowly a little irregular as they do with the starter motor. I cannot load the aircraft with props stationary although it is in Cold & Dark position. The aircraft reacts to starting procedure correctly and when I shut the engines down, Props stop correctly, however with loading THE AIRCRAFT next time same thing happens, props are turning. They don´t run down batteries just go on forever if left alone. Does anybody know of a solution to this problem ?? Thanks Al

Flying around FL today I I tuned to SRQ VOR freq per Skyvector -117.00. However, FSX has it at 115.20 Just so you know... Also in same area. Skyvector chart has no NDB for VNC Venice. yet Flightaware chart does - 205 interesting

I saw a reference recently to a utility that the post said was available "somewhere on the internet" that allows FSX users to reduce the sometime ridiculous speed of vehicle road traffic. I've searched but had no success. Can anyone tell me where I might find it and what it's called? Cheers Ian

Hello there! Okay, so the issue I'm having is that with FSX add-on planes. The two add-on planes I'm having issues with, which both are freeware, is the MD-88, DH Dash 8-100, and the Embraer 190. Might be one more but I honestly don't remember any others. The names of the planes are hyperlinked to where I got them from. I installed all of them into my FSX:SE folder (that's the only version of the game I have), so FSX > SimObjects > Airplanes. I have all the gauges and effects and everything correctly installed for them. Is it a compatibility issue or something? All the places I got them from stated that they were for FSX. Hello all, Wondering whether anybody has come across some decent smooth-acting freeware gauges at all? I'm in the process of putting together an instrument training course (delivered in shared cockpit) and although the default Baron gauges are OK, the movement of the artificial horizon in particular doesn't exactly lend itself to smooth and accurate flying! If anybody is aware of anything I'd be interested to know. Obviously the RealityXP stuff is great, but they are payware and I can't expect/demand that all our students purchase them -- so I'm really looking for freeware, if such a thing exists.
