Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Yeah, looks impressive and all, but anyone aware of the Star Citizen saga probably has to wonder by now how many extra years (again!) have just been added in development time for this stuff until we finally get a complete game.....

Last weekend I was playing in SIU Aviation's 737-200 that we're restoring to at least taxi around KMDH in. Dry motoring was in May and more volunteer engine work next week. (Do I know anything about engines? Of course! I can reliably tell one end from the other!) Unfortunately, this 1968 beauty (donated to the program by United) will never fly again, but you couldn't tell by looking. If the other picture doesn't look like a 737, it's because that's from the beautifully restored American Flagship Detroit DC-3. Snuck in the evening before and spent a lot of time with the crew, then had a super ride the next afternoon. Just wow. Sitting in the last row but one it was quite a…

Quick question I don’t know if I have asked on here, I have asked on several other forums but to keep from bothering the same forum about it again I figured I would ask here. I have read a varsity of stories that Gulfstream hasn’t allowed any of their aircraft in any at home flight simulators. Does anyone have a source for this information? Because it seems they let up considering there is a number of Gulfstream’s out there, a few of which are even payware and have been up for what I would guess is a couple of years now. I’m just really confused, have they let up? Cause I’m also in a discord server where they are developing one for MSFS, and they said that the company has…

I'm not sure if this subject has been raised before but the video is referring to a study published just last month. “this is still just a proof of concept” “the ability to create these large DNA networks that are able to be very efficient, very small in size and require almost no energy, if scaled to a large enough size, in theory, can definitely outcompete classical computers.”

I have to say, I don't agree with some of his claims regarding the nature of current AI. Are they really, currently, more inteligent than we know? I do agree with him that AI will be responsible for some quite wonderful things. And yes, the dangers are real too.
