This is some of what it came up with. Seems like AI can easily be used for ATC. I just asked a basic question and got detailed instructions... I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but here goes. Initial Contact with Ground Control: Pilot: "Ground, [Aircraft Callsign], [Aircraft Type], at [Current Location], with [ATIS Information], ready to taxi." Ground Control: " [Aircraft Callsign], taxi to [Runway Number] via [Taxiways], [Additional Instructions if Necessary]." Taxi Instructions: Ground Control will provide taxi instructions to the runway, which may include specific taxiway routes and hold short in…

Although this accident occurred several years ago, I was not aware of it until this evening. Aside from the five news helicopters there was a police helicopter covering the chase of a suspect trying to avoid capture while driving dangerously in stolen vehicles. Compounding the confusion, the pilots of the news helicopters were required to multi-task to a ridiculous degree, even down to providing the live commentary! The latter meant that the pilots had to keep their eyes on a monitor installed on the left side of the instrument panel, instead of his primary responsibility to keep situational awareness of the other helicopters!!! 😱

Is there any formula or rules for the length of landing gear struts? I know the Corsair had gull wings to lengthen the landing gear because of it's large propeller. But what determines the length of a landing gear strut? Noel

6 or more UFO's. Interesting that there was a high ranking "UFO Officer" overseeing this occurrence. 11.11 in video. Fascinating that the bases had UFO officers.

Like many a flight simmer (past a certain age), some of my first memories of “flight” were sitting on the virtual runway at Meigs Field facing north looking at the polygons representing the mighty Chicago skyline. After a good mid-life crisis…I mean, mid-life career change, I am fortunate to I find myself living out childhood dreams of flying people in and out of Chicago’s busy airspace. This week I found myself with one day off between trips that didn’t leave me enough time to commute back home to my family, so I took opportunity to tour my new “home away from home”, including the former sight of Meigs Field. Here are a few shots I took compared to a screenshot I found o…

Just saw this one the news and wasn’t aware that two pilots collided during landing after the completion of a race today. Unfortunately the pilots of both aircraft didn’t survive and the rest of the races were cancelled today, which happens to be the last day of the Reno air Races forever due to having to find a new location. Ironically the two pilots killed had just finished 1st and 2nd place in the finals of the T-6 class. Fortunately no injuries on the ground were reported. https://www.rgj.com/story/news/2023/09/17/what-we-know-two-planes-crash-at-national-air-races/70887190007/

Just Flight are in discussions with the authorities at RAF Cosford regarding this year’s show usually held in October. There is considerable upheaval in Hangar One and Cosford can’t be definitive whether a show is feasible. What is needed is for them to be persuaded there is considerable interest from the flight sim community and that Cosford is the ideal location. If you want to attend the show this year would you please send a polite request to Cosford and if enough of us do it it will hopefully convince them it’s worthwhile. Write to [email protected] Many thanks.

Just barely the Victorian era. Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany took a demonstration ride in 1900, before the Queen of England ( his grandmother) died the next year. It did not officially open to the public until 1901 a few months after that. This video dated 1902. But it is still in use today. Everyone called it the flying train.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1ex2y4jzklo Not much of a display to be honest, untill the Red Arrows turned up. They suddenly appeared low and fast right over the town with smoke on. Very unexpected, quite a thrill. But some genius held up the display for 8 minutes with a drone. I've no idea what possesses some people. "The Guernsey Battle of Britain Air Display was disrupted by a drone. A Spitfire and a Hurricane began the show at 11:00 BST and the Red Arrows were able to finish the display. The Seafire display, which had been due to start at 12:31, was delayed by eight minutes due to a drone flying in the area. The Red Arrows closed …

About five thousand, six hundred dollars. I think driving the economy version of the 150 without all the whiz bang upgrades makes more sense. Dials with moving hands instead of glass screens for instance and, oops too hot a topic.... Might be too long a video to watch, but the short version is there are fancy sensors in the tail light housing which sends information up front to the driver's dash. If the outside glass taillight covering is cracked, everything there inside it can corrode away to ruin.
