December 21, 2025Dec 21 I decided to reinstall MSFS2024 after a couple of minor issues to do with display anomalies on the Controls config page. Apart from these quite minor matters the sim worked fine always loading very quickly but when I restarted the sim after the reinstall the loading process became very slow at 89% and stopped entirely at 97%. Repeated reinstalls didn't help plus I have tried all the many fixes I could find online but got nowhere the problem persists. Any suggestions would be appreciated. December 21, 2025Dec 21 97% loading stuck was always an addon in my case. Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024

Confused, it it was working, why did you reinstall? And what exactly were you reinstalling? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan

From a recent post, Bruce was talking about returning to FS2024 from FS2020. So I'd guess he tried 2024 in the past, uninstalled and returned to 2020, and has now reinstalled; experiencing the 97% issue referred to in this thread. Bruce - definitely ensure there is nothing in your Community folder - at least initially for test purposes. As other said, the 97% point is where FS2024 is scanning your Community folder and has found something which has stalled the session. December 22, 2025Dec 22 Author The Community folder and the Official folders are both empty. I've only had MSFS for a couple of days but encountered a problem with the controls configuration whereby some of the options disappeared from the bottom of the screen. I tried to fix this with a scaling app available on Flightsom.to but that seemed to make matters worse. The end result made doing anything with the controls setup very difficult so I decided to delete and reinstall after backing up my two Community and two official folders onto another drive. Just to make it clear MSFS2024 was loading normally just before the reinstall. So at that stage, presumably, there was no issue with the Community folders it was only after the reinstall that I had this 97% thing. Nothing was added or subtracted before the reinstall so it is hard to fathom why an addon is the cause especially as the Community folders are now empty. The initial download created new Community and Official folders plus a StreamedPackages folder. The streamedPackages folder is populated but the community and official folders are empty. My understanding is that these get populated during a successful first install - which I haven't got to yet. I tried, as some have suggested, deleting the StreamedPackages folder in case a file there was corrupted and re loading MSFS2024 - but that didn't help. I thought it might be a server issue but 12 hours later and the problem persists. EDIT I found this thread from a year ago - I tried it but it didn't help Bruce Edited December 22, 2025Dec 22 by brucewtb typo Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." December 22, 2025Dec 22 Author I tried the suggestion in this tread from a year ago but it didn't help - makes sense cause the thing is failing with empty community folders Edited December 22, 2025Dec 22 by brucewtb typo Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." December 22, 2025Dec 22 I had the same issue with MSFS 2024 getting stuck at 89–97%. What fixed it for me was installing MSFS Map Enhancement 2024. After the sim loaded, I could remove it again (up to you) It also gives much better, continuously updated scenery. Inside the app, the map providers are: First Bing Maps 2nd Google Maps Also make sure to delete the Rolling Cache and sync your Windows system time before start the sim. *Make sure the ACFT or addons you use are compatible with MSFS2024. Good Luck Edited December 22, 2025Dec 22 by SylvesterSS
December 22, 2025Dec 22 Author Brillant!! That worked. I have always used this mod but during my testing after a reinstall I wasn't as I was aiming for a complete vanilla install. Now I had come across this fix during my online searches but I misinterpreted it to mean don't run the app. Thank you very much for posting this suggestion. Just as a warning to others I went down a many AI rabbit holes looking for a fix an ended up wasting a lot of time in fruitless activity and never once did this idea come up there - although I had seen it during normal online searches.
