  1. Night graphics are in general an improvement over MSFS2020 except for being too bright in any moonlight other than full moon and one other gripe is that you get street lights on major highways well away from built up areas - but this has always been the case in earlier sims as well. Bruce
  2. AFAIK you need to replace the 2024 default 787-10 with the 2020 default version for the Horizon 787 to work in 2024. Bruce
  3. OK figured it out. Now the only problem is that with a 10 sec google search I can find out that the weather today at Milford Sound is cloudy but Active Sky displays it as CAVOK. There are other discrepancies but of a minor nature. I guess this would all relate to how/where from AS is getting its data from. It may be from stations not all that far away but due to local topography could well have very different weather. It can be pouring rain at Milford Sound but dry and mild on the eastern side of the Southern Alps. Would Typical Weather by Parallel 42 be a better option? Perhaps not as typical weather for NZMF would be IMC and IRL you just have to wait for a break in the weather to fly in and out. Having live weather that actually worked for NZMF would be the best option. Bruce EDIT Milford Sound looks fantastic in MSFS2024 with CAVOK weather
  4. I have Active Sky but how do you use it so there is no snow? Thanks.
  5. Forgive me for a minor gripe but with live weather there is still permanent snow and ice at Milford Sound (New Zealand) after 5 and a 1/2 years and two simulators! Bruce
  6. Having Pause at TOD enabled is very helpful even if you don't run your computer for 9 hours (although I do frequently). You can be on a two hour flight and be away for your PC and get back only to find that your aircraft has passed TOD and is now well above the Vnav profile - you may be able to retrieve things but it will be a pain to do so. So if there is some trick to unpausing at TOD for the A340-600 I would also like to be informed as well. Bruce
  7. May have to consider this as I don't think I would get a BS King Air if it has a 350 airframe but analogue gauges (as in 2020 which I passed on). I would rather have the older B200 with analogue gauges. Takes me back to FS2004/FSX and the Aeroworx B200. I know it is not the way Carenado do business but perhaps there will be some worthwhile updates for the B200. Bruce
  8. Well yes that is the sort of thing I was also hoping for. Bruce
  9. Hmm- a few worthwhile improvements but overall a largely cosmetic update. Bruce
  10. Hmm tried this and it doesn't seem to work all my content.xml edits get overwritten at next FS boot. Bruce
  11. Well I had to get this bird as there hasn't been a 340-600 since early FSX days (may have been earlier) and because I made the mistake of getting the inbuilds A340 with the false impression it included both variants - my bad. Now I can see why many are banging on about textures being below par but hopefully it will do the job as it is unlikely we will see another developer do an A340-600 any time soon. Bruce
  12. Yes while this is a bit off topic I would be more interested on the BS Caravan if it had a G1000 option - so that not being the case the 2024 Kodiak is very appealing. Bruce
  13. Grateful to the OP for raising this issue as it was puzzling me as well. I always thought MSFS2024 was an entirely new sim built from the ground up but I see now that this isn't quite the case with large chunks of MSFS2020 stuff also included. Bruce
  14. OK Fixed - a conflicting controller binding was the cause of the problem Bruce
  15. I thought I had this figured out but maybe that was for 2020. Anyway, in 2024 how do you get the TBM930 throttle lever to move across the gate using the Bravo TQ? I have been using the TBM930 profile provided by Mark (AKA Simhanger) but things don't work quite like they do in his YT vids. In MSFS2020 I can use a combination of the moving the prop axis and a right mouse hold to shift the throttle lever across the gate but I can't get that to work in 2024. Any assistance appreciated. Bruce
  16. Is Black Square actually doing a King Air for 2024? I passed on their 2020 rendition because they were using analogue gauges in the default 350i airframe. Bruce
  17. The covers thing may be an MSFS2024 feature that is not compatible with 2020. I had a similar issue with the SR22 in 2024 - a hassle until I was able to locate the clickspots to remove the covers during walk around. In MSFS2024 there is also a Quick Preflight command that removes the covers - by default mapped to ALT+Q although this does not work on my system. Bruce
  18. Thanks but unfortunately this debugging feature is of little use in this instance because issue I have with VDGS is at startup before I can load a flight and test it out in sim. However I did check the log file and as expected there is no useful info only init and de-init time stamps. Just one other detail I got VDGS on ORBX so it was installed using ORBX rather than from a downloaded installer. Bruce
  19. Just for the information of my fellow simmers i have been getting this ESC keyboard error again and this time clearly unrelated to the Honda Jet. After a fair bit of detective work (this time positively assisted by AI) it seems the problem lay with the addon folders aerosoft-modellib-vdgs and/or aerosoft-vdgs-driver. On removing these two folders from my community folder the sim is back to normal. Now it is likely that the problem is not related to these folders of themselves but the way they interact with another addon or addons that could be faulty in some way I don't particularly need VDGS so I will just do without it for now. This error has a history of resolving then reappearing so I take this to be a likely fix but will see how things go. Bruce
  20. The SR22 is a default aircraft so not in the community folder. I'm pretty sure it isn't a faulty key bind as I have a lot of those that work just fine. It maybe Chaseplane but the issue remains with Chaseplane disabled. Anyway I am now able to get rid of the covers during walk around which I have managed to get working. However, when I first installed Chaseplane and fired up the sim and loaded Chaseplane it took me to the intro tutorial at the end of which I was presented with option to have Chaseplane disable all the MSFS2024 Camera bindings. At that point I backed out in order to do some research on the implications of this. In MSFS2020 I elected to manually delete default camera bindings myself. When I returned to the sim and loaded Chaseplane I no longer was given the option concerning NSFS2024 camera bindings - the app fired up and was ready to go. So I am not entirely sure what Chaseplane has done to the default camera bindings. Bruce
  21. Thanks but problem solved. I am not a gamer so WASD keys are new to me but having informed myself on their use I can get Walk Around mode to work and I quickly found click spot to remove the covers. Bruce
  22. How do you do it? I understand the Controls option Quick Preflight should do it when bound to a controller button but that doesn't work - at least for the SR22 but then I haven't needed to do this on any other aircraft. Nor does the multitude of other options I have seen around the web. The only thing that does work for a cold and dark start is to spawn on the runway with the engines running and get GSX to warp you to a parking spot then shut down the aircraft. I have just been through an extended exercise of setting up controller bindings and Chaseplane camera views and the SR22 is the only aircraft that has given me significant hassles. As a side, but possibly related matter, I can't get the walk around mode to work. Is that because of Chaseplane even though disabling it doesn't help. Thanks Bruce
  23. Is this app actually an improvement over what you get by default in MSFS2024? Bruce
