BeyondATC MSFS 2024 Compatibility

BeyondATC MSFS 2024 Compatibility

Beyond ATC is fully compatible with MSFS 2024 in both the EA and Experimental versions.
All ATC functions work as expected and for Supporters using the experimental build traffic control is fully functional.

Being compatible means that it will work as it does in 2020, we have not yet been able to take advantage of any new features like Microsoft provided traffic models or test aircraft specific to the new simulator as they were not included in the development builds of the simulator, that will only be possible after the full MSFS 2024 release tomorrow.

For traffic users, it should be noted that both FSLTL and AIG (and we expect Just Flight to be the same) have indicated that there may be model issues in the new simulator at launch, this could be sound issues, animation issues or missing components (like missing gear on the ground). These issues WILL affect the models when used with BATC too but they are not BATC issues and will require fixes either from Asobo or the respective modelling teams once they have been able to review the 2024 release. It's important to remember that Microsoft focused on only providing devs that sell products on the marketplace with access to the early builds of 2024. Freeware devs like FSLTL and AIG have not had the chance to fully review their products until the same time as the general user community.

Traffic Update

We are quickly nearing "feature complete" on our custom traffic injector. This has been the result of thousands of hours of work from different disciplines across the board. We built our injector from the ground up using a 3D engine to calculate every movement of our planes, from how they bank and pitch to taxi/airport/runway logic, traffic data sourcing and sequencing logic. We don't use any of MSFS' native injection code, but decided to take on the herculean task of rolling our own. This meant a lot more work for us up front, but was a huge benefit that we weren't bound by any of the nonsensical and often silly constraints imposed by MSFS' injector that continues to be present in FS2024 (like "doing donuts" or disappearing randomly, to name a few). As we continue to squash bugs and polish the flow to a spit shine we can look back and say this effort was well worth the investment. We expect to be moving traffic out of alpha into beta soonish, at which point we will push all traffic functionality to the standard EA build for all to use as a free update. We still won't give an exact date, but we're getting much closer with each passing day.

New Trailer

With the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 our old trailer is now extremely outdated. To show off the latest and greatest BATC has to offer we made a new, updated trailer that keeps with the original's light-hearted teasing of the state of the industry while putting all the new features front and center. Enjoy!

  • It truly is a mystery why you got banned, I really can’t imagine why they would do something like this to you.

  • As a counter point, there are some things in the latest versions that are annoying and I’d classify as a regression, but calling it a “bug infested horror show” seems pretty excessive.

  • All I use is the standard voices, never once used the premium voices. I am happy with the way they sound.

This might seem like a dumb question, but will we have to install AIG traffic models separately for MSFS 2024 as well as MSFS 2020?

Yes, BATC uses whichever AI aircraft you have in the sim. I use FSLTL because I find that they have the best models and full effects.

AIG has more models, more liveries and is easier on performance.

Some of the models FSLTL use are models AIG also use just edited to add parallax windows.

How possible/desirable is it to not use your own voice while using BATC?

It has a menu where you can select responses with your mouse.

I don't use my own voice except when it's significantly faster then clicking, like asking for a specific gate at an airport with a lot of parking.

You can also turn on an auto-respond mode. It will respond to most ATC messages so you don't need to click/speak but some ATC requests will require a manual response.

Adding to what Tuskin said, there's also a definable button (e.g. on your joystick) that selects the first answer/phrase from the list and which is always the "logical" next thing to do (e.g. asking for taxi clearance after pushback, checking in with center, reading back). That's usually all you need for a normal non-fancy flight from A to B, so you might as well not even have to use your mouse at all.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Thanks, looks very tempting!

Cheers

How does this work with the new career mode? Does it seamlessly replace the existing ATC, or is the career mode scoring system going to be upset at me for ignoring the “real” ATC?

I tried BATC tonight with FS2024.  Every time I hit escape to pull up the MSFS menu BATC loses its connection to the sim.  Anyone else seeing this?

Yes...it's a bug.  Use Ctrl + C so you don't need to leave interface.

I just started using AI Traffic in BATC today. I was really impressed, it worked well, and it was great to hear ATC talking to the AI aircraft, and seeing the result. I love BATC. BTW this is on 2020 and I have FSLTL installed.

Thanks, what do I use ctrl-c for?  Is that in BATC or MSFS?

Has it been released as an update or is it still in supporter level?

I'm now in sim heaven thanks to MSFS 2024 and hundreds of add-ons!
