Horizon simulations 789 takeoff problem

Featured Replies

Hi, first flight here in the horizon sim 789 and I have a problem :). When I reach rotate speed, the aircraft doesn't want to lift, instead keeps rolling until 190 kts( I'm only able to rotate at 190kts). It happens multiple times, and I don't know what's causing it. Any ideas?

Also check you weight.

Well the weights and trim were set, I checked them. No idea what might be the cause. Tho I'm afraid of something. After I installed the aircraft, the game acted like I just installed it and made me redo some of the settings( not all of them). Some of my Thrustmaster tca quadrant settings got reset, but I set them back. I hope this doesn't have to do anything with my sensitivity or other settings and calibration getting reset

I saw the same at first test, she rotates pretty late ( pitch was set as the FMC told ) and to help i used my joystick and there the plane goes up very aggressive i almost got a tailstrike so i belive this needs some more love..

I didn`t watch the speed but could be around that 190kts because it tooks a long time to bring her up from the runway 🤔

TOW was around 385000 lbs, so far from heavy weight..

cheers 😉

Same here, far from being heavy, light on fuel. The plane lifted close to 190 kts and I actually had a tail strike. Something is not right. Trim was set up correctly, by the way.

If you experience this take-off challenge, it is related to your weights not being correctly input.

  1. Do you use Simbrief for your flight plan?
  2. If yes, do you import your weight & balance in the setting page of the FMC?
  3. To do so, press Setting, on the bottom right of the screen press weight & balance,
  4. then on that page press the key on the left side to import from Simbrief, all your weights will be automatically populated as well as your fuel,
  5. DONT use the MSFS sliders for any weight or fuel.

Finally calculate your take-off speeds with the EFB and input them in your FMC. That should take care of your difficulties.

And... of course as suggested by several posters above make sure your stab trim is in the green zone otherwise you're in for a fight with your stab upon rotation!!!

According to Discord there is a problem with the wrong ZFW (and therefore wrong CG) in some cases. Did you import from Simbrief? People say importing from Simbrief into the FMC works fine. Anyway you might want to double check what CG he gives you in the FMC when you auto-fill it, should be between 18 and 33.

EDIT: Or what @Bernard Ducret above me said in a much more elaborate way 🙂

Yeah, I imported from simbrief. No idea what I did wrong.

Just completed a short flight in the new plane.  Generally speaking, all went well and I did get a feeling of higher fidelity than the default 787.   I did have one issue;  my plane rotated smoothly at the specified 146kts.   The initial climb was smooth and nice.   Then I applied some nose down trim and the plane shot nose up, suddenly.   I managed to return the plane to a normal attitude in a few seconds.    I'm not very knowledgeable about the 787 but believe it has (some) FBW? Was I not supposed to use the trim?   At the point it happened, it felt like when you have a plane that jerks and goes nuts when you disconnect the AP.... but in this case, the AP was definitely not on; it just happened as soon as I trimmed.  Like the trim immediately moved to some other preset setting, the moment I touched it.

It has FBW in that you manually have to trim for your speed but then it will keep the flight path by auto-trimming until the speed changes. Anyway it shouldn't react like this, obviously. Perhaps an input problem? Are you using a trim axis or buttons? Were they maybe changed recently or reset by an MSFS update?
