The Comprehensive Illustrated Guide to Little Navmap: 400+ Pages (206 double-spreads) Hi everyone, I'm excited to finally announce the release of a project that has been my full-time focus for the past several months: A Complete Practical Guide to Little Navmap. As many of you know, Alexander Barthel's Little Navmap is an incredible piece of freeware that has become an essential part of the X-Plane ecosystem. However, its professional-grade depth can be a bit daunting for new users, and even veterans often find hidden features they didn't know existed. With the express permission and blessing of Alexander Barthel, (he has written the forewordin the b…

This is my experience getting Little Navmap working with my simulator running on Proton. I created this account specifically just to post this to help people who are migrating their sims to Linux. My setup: DISTRO: Arch Linux DE/WM: Hyprland SIM: MSFS2020 Steam running via Proton Prerequisites: Download the Linux .tar.gz version of LNM. Not the installer. Download the Windows .zip version of LNM from the github repo. Not the installer. Extract both separately in a convenient directory (we'll use ~/LittleNavmap/Linux and ~/LittleNavmap/Windows for this guide) Install protontricks from your preferred p…

Edit three by @albar965: Edit two by @albar965: Edit by @albar965: New Zealand map by @omcnoe Original post by Bina below: -------------------------------------------------- Captains, I don't know if you have been using them already, but I have made a bunch of new maps for LNM, which make some widely popular map and chart data accessible from LNM. I think you'll find them useful too. To install the maps, download and unzip the file, then copy and paste the folder data found inside it to the location where you have your copy of LNM installed. Say yes to overwrite, when asked. You'll find my map…

Screenshots Note that none of the services I use here need an account or an email address to use. Screenshots are a valuable tool to find issues. Include the window title and the status bar of LNM which allows to see versions, connections status, settings and more. You cannot insert images directly into the Avsim forum. Therefore, here the short version of the long thread linked below. Note that you do not have to create an account at Postimages to post a screenshot. Use your favorite screenshot tool and save the shot to a file as JPEG or PNG or copy the image to the clipboard. Go to Postimages . Now either: Insert the screenshot from…

I have already received a request, question or problem report by e-mail and could not reply. Email bounced for various reasons. So, if you do not get a reply within two or three days check your email account. Typically strange looking sender addresses like "Firstname Lastname <[email protected]>" are broken and result in errors when answering. Check your email settings if you see this. Alex

Below is the link to the technical FAQ about Little Navmap. This is also available in Little Navmap's help menu: ► Frequently asked Questions Why are your programs free? They are not only free, they are even open source. That means other people can use parts or the whole of my application in their own projects or learn something by reading the code. This is true especially for the atools (https://github.com/albar965/atools) repository, which contains all the code to read BGL, PLN or the FSX logbook files. I was always an advocate of open source believing in cooperation instead of competition. Typing this on my Linux notebook using open source prog…

The measurement tool seems to display values to the nearest NM and Degree. Sometimes it shows 2 degree values. Is there a way to have it display more precision? In particular the Radial degrees? I'm using it for old-school VOR RNAV, and finding I need more precision for longer distances.

I followed a YouTube video which took me to several CSV files each with a large list of Helipads. The list was compiled using data from Open Street Maps and one other source I can't quite remember. I downloaded the CSV file, installed it into Little Navmap, and they all became visible on the map. However, most of them cannot be specified as a departure or a destination. Is there some trick to this. Only some of them are at airports. A large number of them, worldwide, however, are not near airports. Any tricks for getting the helipads to allow departure and destination settings? Am I missing something? Thanks.

Is there a way to turn off the data that pops up when you mouse over the map? I don't mind clicking on it when I want to know something, but other times I can't see what I want to, like taxiways without clearing the mouse.

when you scroll along the elevation profile a pop out window show the height. as a newbie im finding this a bit confusing. the above ground is self explanatory but the "above" which does I assume means sea level changes quite dramatically. ie flying across UTAH USA the above aground will say for instance 6000 feet with an above of only hundreds and as you move along the above will go into thousands . Can anybody explain this to me . Thanks in advance

With MSFS2024, I would like to have Littlenavmap load some scenery/navaid .bgl's into its database, so that I can see the NDBs contained therein on the map display. I notice in the LNP FAQ there is a line that says, Different NDBs with the same name and region cannot be loaded due to the limitations of SimConnect. Example BM/UH. This can break airways or procedures in some cases. ...I am not sure if this is the problem I'm running into, or not. I didn't notice anything in the documentation about this, except for the above, but I might have missed something. In Options|Scenery Library Database, I have selected the MSFS2024 Community folder...to in…

For some reason my Little NavMap won't recognize .pln format flight plans when I try to import them into Little NavMap. Is there any way I can convert the .pln to .lnmpln, inside Little NavMap, or outside of it? Thanks T45

Feature request if you please... It would be very useful to me to be able to transpose the Flight Plan chart. At times that would allow one to see more of the map and any pertinent plan legs. Thx.

Hello, i can't figure out how to view a gpx trail on the approach vertical profile window. I've selected an applicable approach and can see the feather in both the horizontal and vertical view, but the trail doesn't show up on the elevation profile. Is this feature available, and if so, how to make it appear? I wanna see how much I was off the ILS glideslope.

Hi All I recently had to download LNM again due to an issue with my PC. For my PMDG 737 flights I used to use the Multi-Export Flight Plan button to save flight plans into the 737 Config / Flightplans folder and these would show up in the FMC. I notice now that the Multi-Flightplan Options button is there but the Multi-Export Flight Plan button is now greyed out. So I can now longer save the files to the previously used location. Can anyone tell me how to "ungrey" that option please? Many thanks
