PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster

  1. Started by Celso Filho,

I bought the DC 6 as soon you releasead and i have thousand flies with it even trasnmitting in youtube. I recently bought the P3d 4.4 and after reformat the machine for a clean install anda istalled all products of pmdg i have, i notice that i simply cant start ANY engine of the DC6!!! ... I Start with cold and dark option and nothing makes the engines starts... It is obvious that i use the engineer to put the aircraft in READY TO START OPTION and Even with all the realism turn to off! i simply cant... I think maybe it has something related with my default state. I will try again with another default state. But even if i put the READY FOR TAXI option (that…

I am wondering what is the range of the PMDG DC-6 because the aircraft info - when selecting aircraft in the sim aircraft selection menu - says 4000 nm / 7400 km but when planning a flight in PFPX, one that was less than 3000 nm, using the PFPX profiles that came with the aircraft, I got en error message that the fuel required is more than the capacity of the tanks. According to the PFPX profiles and the intro manual, the fuel capacity is 19932 pounds. Using the PFPX profiles, a flight from JFK to LHR would require approximately 29000 pounds of fuel, and the distance is less than 6000 km. But even a flight from Minneapolis to St Maarten cannot be completed without…

I guess I'm missing something when trying to operate the GTN 650 within the DC-6. The GTN trainer allows switching between Comm and NAV frequencies by tapping the right hand knob. This functionality doesn't seem to exist when accessing the GTN 650 installed in the DC-6. Even in the default navigation screen, switching frequency bands is inop. Any ideas? Jim Driskell

  4. Interesting having to remake the spec files for each paint, but still fun to paint regardless! WIll be up on AVSIM as soon as possible, ran into an Ops Centre issue with livery exporting and importing, so expect to see it online when that issue is fixed. Cheers Guys

Hello! Got a problem with penalties in fsairlines client. AFE switches landing lights on/off as he wish but not as required by fsa client. How can I fix it?

  6. Started by Thunderstreak,

New problem (I think). When I undock the AFE window I suffer a major FPS drop. If I close it frames pop right back up. I’ve never noticed this before, therefore I think this is a new problem, only change since the last flight is a video card upgrade. P3dv4.3 Win7Ult I7-6700K RTX2070 16GB Ram. Any help is appreciated! Hi Guys, I am fairly new to the DC-6 (having cut my teeth on the MD-83 for the past 15 years). I am quite familiar with constant speed props, but am really struggling to get the DC6 to descend. I have read that you need to plan well ahead and start descent early, but I am having real problems slowing down. When using the AFE, having completed the inrange checks, you need to slow down far enough to be able to drop the flaps as part of the final check. I have also read elsewhere that you shouldn't go below a BMEP of 80 (and of course you should avoid the props driving the engine at all times), but at the lowest possible settings in level flight, the speed bleed…

Hi Dear Devs, Captains, In an earlier post back in September "cbpowell" from the dev team hinted that the current 8 tank/3322 USG fuel capacity might be increased to 8/tank/5512 USG (per the original V5-NCG config). Therefore we could fly longer range, trans-US flights. Is this mod. plan still valid? Just to keep up our hopes. (Anyway, an extraordinary addon! I'm still at the begining of a steep learning curve of a astonishingly complicated aircraft of the large-piston era. Still, a lot of fun! Congrats again PMDG!) Cheers, Tamas

Just started out on the DC-6 for P3Dv4, having already mastered the NGX, the 777, and the OOTSII. Had a look at the Tutorial 1 that comes with the Documentation in OC. Is there a Tutorial for a C+D start-up state? Or is there a recommended YouTube I can learn from and get to know this ubiquitous aircraft well, to fly it, eventually, with a degree of competence as I have the other three? Thanks for any hints/tips/pointers. etc.

I have uploaded a Marine Corp VC-118 Paint scheme (USMC VC-118 (DC-6A) 128426 1979) to AVSIM to go along with the 2 U.S. Air Force C-118 paint schemes I uploaded last year. Please don't be critical if you see minor imperfections as I had to take some liberties since good photos of this aircraft are extremely limited. The download can be found at https://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=207828

I thought such a topic would come handy. To kick start it, I would like to ask if someone's kind enough and make a West Atlantic (cargo variant) repaint on the DC-6 please? In reality, West Atlantic did never operate the type (Air Atlantique did). West Atlantic is basically a holding company for Atlantic Airlines (they "inherited" Air Atlantique) and West Air Sweden. West Atlantic operate a fleet consisting of BAE ATPs (would love to see a study level BAE ATP in P3D), 737s, 767s and CRJs. I think the West Atlantic livery (both the grey and the white one) looks great and would make for an excellent dress for the DC-6 especially in a nice, weathered condition.

Hi guys I'm curious if at any point in the future the DC-6 for P3D will get the RainMaker treatment? It's the only thing the sim is missing! I'd love it. Thanks :)

Hello! As I did not find that much on my search, I wonder if anyone has a good source for old approach charts? ILS, VOR and NDB from the 40's up to the 70's or something.

For reasons I cannot figure out, the ramp manager is now missing? Is there some way to make it re-appear? Right now, my (MAC) version of X-Plane 10 starts with the DC -6 running on the apron surrounded by ladders etc that I can't remove? Looking forward to someone's help?

I can not find an answer of what can happen, I downloaded form PMDG the Dc6 and when I try to install, I get the question if I permit instalation, I say yes and nothing happens. I have down the user account control, and runing as administrator, no fire wall, for the instalation time. I must say that when I had P3D v4.1 worked fine, but when updated nothing at all. I been looking around in internet but not find an answer, probably happens the same to another user, and perhaps can help me. I thank in avdavance any help or suggestion, by the way I am not an updated user or computers and programs, I belong to the old days

Just purchased the PMDG DC6 a week ago and up till today no problems except understanding GPS and VOR. Today while flying I noticed that the ICON that show's the different task icons, started to fade away. After it disappear it could not be brought up with mouse button. Then the screen started to turn dark, except the bottom icons did not. When I clicked the "A" or S" key, the plane would flicker, then go dark. The only that would not fade away was the GPS, I have two monitors and I move it from one to another and it stayed the same, this has happen twice. Rebooted FSX, system and worked OK until 30 minutes into the flight. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm slowly working my way thru the complexities of the PMDG DC-6 and it's a joy to fly when everything goes well, that is if I don't have too many loose nuts on the controls. I did notice something today which seems not correct. While using the PDMG GNS 430 and flying a GPS segment from EAT to YKM course 176°, the North indicator arrow was pointing about south. I still pointed south mor or less on the next segment to LJT course 193°. Is this a feature? Jim Driskell

  21. As I have a 4K monitor running at 3840X2160, I reset my pixel size by doubling the numbers in the panel so that my pop up screens are normal size and not tiny. However, when I select the GTN 650 in my configuration, it loads beautifully and works great, but because it makes a new panel cfg it puts my pixel size back to small. How do I keep the sizing and the GTN gauge permanent? Lee

Hi guys! I wanted to share some impressions from my ferry flight, which started in Fairbanks Alaska and ended in my home-town at Bern Switzerland. Thanks again to Jan for his great Kar Air liveries, which he created on my request! All flights, a total of 15, were flown on IVAO in real-time and with real weather (Active Sky). I had great fun in the six, and learned alot while flying her across several countries and the atlantic ocean. Total time in the air was 37.6 hours, and total distance flown was 8'742 nautical miles. The engines now have 40+ hours, and they're still all green without having them serviced! I'm handling them all by myself, as I'm not using the AFE.…

  23. After a fair bit of reading and a bit of free time, having been busy with a slightly bigger aeroplane as of late, I decided to do some flying in the -6. Add to that I have an ASA paint I'm particularly attached to, and that Alaska Airlines has ventured far and wide, I decided to take the old girl South. Let's just call it route exploration... who knows how far South I'll end up? It had been a while since I really experienced all the contortions necessary, and so today we departed Seattle in one of Pete's marvelous repaints (which I begged for, and he was gracious enough to provide). Here we are, fat, dumb and happy at 17,000 feet (almost FL time, can you believe i…
