Hi Guys, I'm sure this topic has been covered a thousand times before but i was wondering if anyone has found a 100% fix for the graphics spiking issue with windows 8.1 and FSX running DX10? I have searched a lot into it but there are that many fixes (or supposed fixes) out there i would be here when windows 10 comes out trying them all. My system won't run DX9 at all, soon as i click 'fly now' it just crashes to desktop but i can fly in DX10 mode but just with these horrible spiking issues. I do have both service packs installed for FSX. The problem still occurs with no addons installed. My PC spec is as follows: Windows 8.1 64-bit, i7-4770 CPU @ 3.90GHz (8 CPUs)…

Has anyone found a workaround to get SweetFX working with Win 8.1, or are we out of luck until ceejay releases an update? Thanks

Hello Avsim, After over 2 years of longing for a new gaming system I have finally found the right system and now have the funds to afford it. The only issue is that I have to get it with Windows 8.1. For that last few hours I have been looking through this forum and over the internet looking at 8.1 and FSX compatibility. It seems that FSX works on 8.1 if you install it correctly and possibly apply one small file in the FSX directory. My next question is there are any add-ons that seem to have particular issue with Windows 8. I mainly have planes from: Carenardo Alabeo Captain Sim (seems to work well on 8.1 from what others have said) Iris Simulations CLS…

I updated w8.1 last night, and when I restarted the pc, it gave me a Reboot and Select proper Boot device prompt. I went into my bios, and it does not show the SSD (only drive on this pc), and only shows the dvd drive. I looked up info online, and it seems MSFT messed up August's updates, and are investigating the issue. Problem is that my issue is not mentioned(?), at least as far as I can understand from their messages. Tried to repair with the DVD, but it could not find the SSD. Is it an update fiasco, or is it just a coincidence? I unplugged, replugged the ssd to no avail, and am wondering if my SSD just happened to die right when I restarted the pc. …

Hey guys, bit of a random one. I have been running FSX on Windows 8.1 fine but the other day i installed FTX England which looks really good but ever since then i have been experiencing random crashes pretty much straight after landing. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar? I also installed Leeds Bradford extreme from UK2000 on the same day but i disabled that and its still crashing so i'm guessing it has to be FTX. I am also running with DX10 preview as i cant get FSX to run in DX9 with any of my add-on aircraft. Hey everyone, My friend is a huge flight sim fan and he has a pretty good setup with a triple monitor. I was over his house to check it out and he wanted me to troubleshoot what is going on with his sims. He is running Windows * and he runs the Trackir software before he runs DCS world. The sim starts just fine and when I am wearing the hat with the IR pickups? The software tracks my head movements just fine but he has no keyboard control and his flight stick, I want to say it is a Thrustmaster, but nothing works. Hello, I think I have found a solution to the dreaded joystick disconnect in Windows 8 while playing FSX. I recently upgraded to WIN 8.1 with no problems but a 3D thing with nvidia which was easily fixed. But I think I have fixed the joystick problem. So to fill yuo in I have my Logetech Attack 3 joystick disconnect when not clicked on the sim or when switching tasks. Now, I've updated to 8.1 and changed the compatibilty of the FSX.EXE to windows 8 and remmeber to run the exe as an admin. I have gone through multiple tests and my joystick has not disconnect from switching tasks for now. Hopefully this fix works and upgrading to 8.1 will do no harm to your computer of FSX.

Hi All As is well documented, running FSX under WIN8.1 requires me to have the direct X 10 preview button selected in graphics options. FSX will not run at all without this selected. This is fine - except of course some add ons wont work properly with DX10 preview selected and night textures at add on airports are dreadful, which is somewhat limiting. Has anyone managed to work around or fix this issue yet?

Hello everyone: I'm having problems when I'm trying to activate FSX on Windows 8, the message said that I exceeded the limit of activations, however I don't have that problem on Win 7, after some tests, I noticed that I'm able to activate on Win 7, but no Win 8, Win 8.1 and also Win Vista. I tried everything like compatibility mode, run as administrator, turn off UAC and reinstall FSX. I tried to find this problem in google, but with no luck. Sorry for my English. Hi guys. I fly FSX SP2, under win8.1 normally without any problems. Recently I purchased Fiber Accelerator and now have found a problem. When I go from full screen mode to windowed mode, in order to tweak FA, often when I return to FSX, the sim has switched to mouse mode control and no longer sees my saitek X55 Rhino HOTAS set up. Quite annoying to be half way through an approach to landing and lose all control input!!! I wrote to FSPS tech support, who wrote me back indicating this has nothing to do with Fiber Accelerator, but is a bug in FSX/Win81 ? Havent heard of that, but I also have never had to switch between applications dynamically like with this to…

I installed and reinstalled Windows 8.1 a few times on my PC lately. Until now whenever I plugged in my Saitek Combat Rudder pedals, it would show up on the game controller CP and P3D as Saitek Combat Rudder pedals. However, after reinstalling W8.1 again today it shows up as a nameless device: Axes: 3 knobs: 0 joystick In P3D I also had to remove a few axes while before P3D recognized the controller and set it up as it should. Anyone knows what caused this? The 'funny' thing is that I reinstalled my OS once more because I thought I made an error somehow somewhere but no... the controller still shows up like a generic device. Anyone has a solution for this?

My pc keeps restarting,at least once or twice a day, each time there is a different reason given for the restart. Once I noticed there was an exclamation point by one of my drivers, so I replaced that driver, and another time it was page fault in non paged area, another it was something else, so what do I do when I keep getting conflicting information about this problem? As I said, it only happens once, maybe twice a day tops, but it is rather annoying, and potentially a bad sign of something. I'd like some ideas of what else I could try to do.

In Windows 7 I always changed the shortcut's target to TrackIR to this: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /high TrackIR5.exe I just found out this doesn't work anymore in Windows 8. Is there a simple way to make TrackIR use high priority automatically? Windows 8 needs even more mouse clicks to change the priority manually and I don't like to do that everytime...

Okay so i updated windows 8 yesterday! Love it, Except for the fact i cant use my JOYSTICKKK!!!!!!!!!! So it seems when i get into the sim and load an aircraft and go to a airport, as soon as it loads the joystick is fine. I can move the Joystick and FSX responds like it should do! Then out of no where, all of a sudden i can stil use the hat switch to look around, but when i move the joystick up down left right ect FSX dosent respond. Hey guys, So i was thinking of Upgrading to Windows 8. At the beginning of 2013 i thought about switching to windows 8, but back then i actually sore alot of people saying that FSX crashes with Win 8, 1 year and a half on, im interested once again to see if i should switch? DO NOT USE UIAtomationCore.dll IN WINDOWS 8!!! Although this is the only trick in the book that worked for win8 Furthermore after applying this trick everything started to work as it should; Including additional tweak in fsx.cfg that didn’t seem to take affect prior to applying this.
