After installing FTX Global, FSX complains that it can't find ORBX\FTX_OLC\OLC_EU1\SCENERY and indeed on checking it isn't there. There is a texture folder in ORBX\FTX_OLC\OLC_EU1\ but no scenery folder. Should there be one? I have applied the latest libs. This query has been on the Orbx support forum for a week without any response (I guess due to all the "noise" surrounding the NoCal release) so I thought I would seek assistance here. Thanks Thanks Bruceb

firehawk44 had a message where making "folders" shared eliminated his R6025 errors. I was wondering if we could see an elaboration such as the needed level of permissions and who received them as well as which files were so marked.

Hey, I recently purchased this aircraft Iris Pilatus PC-9/A and I am trying to figure out if this aircraft has autopilot? I have checked the manual, and I unable to find it. I know this is a trainer aircraft but don't the newer aircraft like this have gps and autopilot? I may have purchased an aircraft which could over my knowledge level for the the time being, I am definitely confused by all the stuff in the manual. The graphics are super smooth on my system with this bird, and looks awesome in Eyefinity resolution, but confused by its controls. Would appreciate some help on this - especially a quick howto on the navigation side of things (course setup…

For those that don't read all the P3D forum posts, two LM developers recently posted interesting comments explaining how two often-discussed topics, volumetric fog and core affinity, work: Firstly, a clear description from Beau of the difference between volumetric fog and the old FSX method: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=8207 Secondly, an explanation from Zach as to why it's not a good idea to modify the affinity mask at runtime. Although this "spreads the load" across all cores, it is likely to reduce performance. There is really no problem with one core being maxed out at 100%: any real-time application needs a main coor…

My Lionheart Epic works pretty well when I'm flying, but when I try to exit the simulator after flying I get a 'fatal error occurred' message and FSX then attempts to restart. I can cancel the 'fatal error' notice and cancel the restart and I exit FSX. But it's an annoying problem I have no idea how to correct. Noel

Anyoneelse seen this? I have vehicles running across the south end of 34R at KSEA all of a sudden. Did not have this problem with V2.2, so, I am guessing something has changed in my setup. Any ideas would be appreciated. Regards,

Cross posting between here and the Prepar3D forum. Wanted to do a clean install and downloaded Prepar3D_v2_Academic_2.3.11345.0_Full.zip.. Upon Unzipping with 7zip about 5 of the cabs failed the CRC check during unzipping Then I downloaded it again.. CRC Failures for different cabs this time.. MD5's are completely different for each. What it should be: b66a03700e610d6bf79d7c86e14c8dc2 My packet lose is fine.. Pinged Prepar3D.com 100 times Then Pingtest So is this the norm now for their delivery servers? It's mildly irritating.

Continuing to embrace P3D v2.3, I feel we are very fortunate to have a sim this good based on FSX. I'd be interested in what jet aircraft people are using in v2.3... I have the Aerosoft A320 and Captain Sim B772 that I used in v2.2, and have yet to install in my freshly-reinstalled v2.3. I note that the Quality Wings B752 is not yet ready for v2.3 (I loved it in v2.2). Any info much appreciated. Thanks, Bruce.

Hi together, maybe this is of interest for some of you. I tried to change the settings within the NVidia control panel and all settings except "3D..." were missing. I figured out it was my USB-monitor attached (Asus MB168+), which I'm using to display some intruments during flight. Unplugging the monitor brings back all settings. Does anybody know if they will become effective also? Because plugging in the USB monitor of course hides the settings again. At least it seems so, because P3D is running quite fine here (after the coud.fx fix of course  ) Regards Marc

Hey guys looking to upgrade from my twin otter to the airbus, does it have a 2.3 native installer, if not, do you guys know if they are working on upgrading it to have one, and if not, does the current installer work just fine under 2.3 and, if not, are there work arounds? ...I think that about covers it!

Hello everyone, Anyone encountered issue with the last beta SP build 5360 (and P3D v2.3) ? My ASN keeps saying "Waiting for simulator" despite SimConnect connection checked, windows shares OK, DLL.XML checked and new "ASConnect_P3D_Install.exe" launched on the P3D PC. It worked like a charm with any previous build. Opened thread on HifiTec forum : http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/showthread.php?3640-ASN-Build-5360-(networked)-P3D-v2-3-quot-Waiting-for-simulator-quot&p=19173&viewfull=1#post19173

FYI, Looks like we will be getting another patch to fix a new bug in terrain shadows... We found the issue with terrain shadow casting. We changed some variable names in the terrain shader and missed a few entries. Looking at it now, I'm a bit surprised the shader compiled. It would best to keep terrain casting disabled until we can put out an update. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=7882

Calling on experienced Airbus pilots here because I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, I missed a setting, or I have a compatibility issue? I have watched a number of tutorials on Utube looked over the manual but I am still having an issue with the PFD and ND failing to rotate with aircraft heading change. I have used the FO's MCDU to configure the aircraft as cold and dark and worked through the checklists but even if I configure the aircraft panel state for take off the problem persists. Essentially the heading tape at the bottom of the PDF will scroll left or right but the ND will remain locked at 0 degrees no matter which direction the aircraft is head…

I upgraded from v2.0 to 2.3 and one thing I noticed is that shadows of vegetations and buildings flicker terribly, unless I'm like only 100 feet above the ground. I can only reduce or largely eliminate the flickering by setting shadow quality to Ultra, but that of course kills my fps. I'm using 337.88 driver on 780ti, could this be a driver issue? Otherwise I can't understand why even under High shadow setting shadows still flicker so badly, making shadows really hard to see and annoying.

LOLOL Correct title..'Here's a million dollar performance tip....blah, blah...' I hate small tab keyboards! Ok...seriously, turn off Wide-View Aspect Ratio EVEN if you are using a wide-screen monitor. You will pick up almost 7-9 FPS, (33 percent performance gain in most viewing scenarios), and you use the - or + key on your keyboard, to bring yourself forward, or back yourself out from the instrument panel. A few clicks on the '- ' button will give you back the 'look' of the Wide-view aspect in the cockpit or out the side window...BUT...you will see a most impressive FPS gain, as your CPU/GPU will not have to render such a large amount of data...and the tight…

While clouds are an fps hit in v2.3, my biggest fps hit comes from traffic. A big part of the immersion in flight swimming is seeing other vehicles in action. Without the traffic, I feel as if I'm flying around in some post-apocalyptic world devoid of humans. It's a nice smooth post-apocalyptic flight with high fps, but it gets lonely.... So I like to have traffic running and realize there is a price in fps to be paid. I keep airlines at 10%, GA at 30%, cars at 10%, ships at 25% and pleasure boats at 25%. This knocks 10-15 frames per second off of my frame rate which wasn't such a big deal with v2.2 but makes me have to significantly lower other settings in v2.3 …

Hi, I've tried a patch of 2.2 (obeying all Rob's recommendations), and had CTDs. I've now restored 2.2. Is it ok to do a full install of 2.3, replace various scenery folders as before, then restore the backup files which Rob recommended. Or is it best to do the full install, then install all addons from scratch (takes me a full week! :() A completely clean install would be good, but P3D is on its own drive, while C:\ has related stuff plus a ton of software completely unrelated! Thanks for any recommendations. Jim H.

There has been some debate about the difference between Wide-view Aspect Ratio on or off. Some say wide-view off will give you oval gauges, other say wide-view on will give a fish eye lense effect. So I decided to settle this once and for all. ^_^ I paused my flight in mid-air, took a screenshot while wide-view was on, with a zoom off 0.7, and then I turned wide-view off and tried to get as close to the same view again as I had before by ONLY changing the zoom, which ended up at 0.39. Here is the result in an animated gif. Now YOU tell me which one has wide-view on. Or off. A or B...? Well, as you can clearly see there is a VERY SMALL difference due to the z…

Beau Lockheed Martin Posts: 890 Send Message Re: Bug with cloud-altitudes in meters and feet - and performance issue on: September 4, 2014, 11:24 Quote Hello all. We found the issue that is likely causing the majority of cloud related issues in 2.3. Some of the cloud math got tweaked during 2.3 development and the size of clouds got doubled. We do plan on releasing a hot fix but will first prioritize known issues to see what fixes we can get in reasonably soon. In the meantime, you can resolve the cloud issue by doing the following: Brows to the ShadersHLSL folder. This is in the main application folder where the Prepar3D.exe is. You may need elevated permissions to…

I have installed Ultimate Traffic 2 with P3D v2.3, and it appears to be working.....to a certain extent. The number of airliners visible at any particular airport is incredibly low. However, that isn't my biggest problem. I am having the same issue with UT2 after reinstallation as I did last time when reinstalling in FSX. Basically, none of my imported airliners or schedules are being used. It looks very much like I will need to add all of these airlines and aircraft all over again, and if that is the case, then I am looking at a complete nightmare. However, I may have another option. Can anyone tell me exactly which files I need to save from the old installation, and…

I am thinking about buying the upcoming Aerosoft Airbus 318 and PFPX to plan my flights. This means I also have to buy an updated AIRAC so both addons will have the same data. I've updated an AIRAC only once before, with the 737NGX, but that's a long time ago already. P3D is still using the FSX data for runways, ILS, etc. do by now that data is 8 years old... A lot of things have changed (runway numbers, new runways, new approaches) and after doing a few searches about this I found out I may need new AFCADs for various airports if I want to be sure the runway I plan to land on is actually there...! Now the AVSIM library has AFCADs but the FSX ones need to be edited (?…
