Hi everyone, a simple question for you, why do the clouds still look popcorn in p3d v4? because of rex cloud/envtex is not applied?

I just received an email from Carenado that the first batch (6) of v4 aircraft are ready to be downloaded and installed.

I just purchased P3D Version 4. I have the current version of FTX Central. Is it a safe assumption that when selecting P3D version 4 in FTX Central that any scenery listed as not installed is compatible with Version 4? Thank You. Bill McCracken

Hi guys, I'm thinking of doing a round the world flight in my A2A Comanche. I'm just wondering what flight planning software you guys use when doing GA flights? I already have PFPX which I use for my 777, but that seems to be directed for heavy metal flying, rather than GA Vor to Vor flights. Any advice would be greatfully received. Cowboy10uk

I jumped on the Virtualcol CRJ as soon as I saw that it was available. I am very impressed by the increase in the quality of the VC and external textures, and the massive pack of liveries provided. One thing I noticed, and this was brought up by someone else in another thread, is that the aircraft is way too "hot" in the air. By this, I mean that there is very little bleed off of speed when retarding the throttles. I have no idea if the actual aircraft is in fact like this, but I find it unacceptable in a sim aircraft. I thought this was a thing of the past with 64 bit? Lets say I'm departing an airport straight out, but then bank left or right and look at the airport all the buildings will load into view. Once loaded which only takes 1-2 seconds, if I look away and then look again they have to load in again. Is this normal? Thanks

Hi Guys, hopefully someone can shed some light if this upgrades worth it. I presently have an i5 4690K overclocked at 4.5 with 16GB DDR3 Ram, GTX980Ti and SSDs Looking at upgrading to the i7 7700K (heard it can overclock to circa 5Ghz quite easily going by youtube videos) with DDR4 Ram at 3200Mhz clockspeed and a new mobo to go along with ofcourse. Is it worth it? Will I see anything result wise from this upgrade? Thanks in advance.

Hi, first i will address this problem over at TD forums as well. I just bought TD s KMBS tried to install it into v4 but never came past the registration. It said i have an invalid code. I tried it many times but no luck. Error Code 0 Anyone faced the same problem? Thanks :)

Hello,, Recently installed P3Dv4, and have been doing some initial flying with various graphics settings, looking to find the 'optimal' setup. But something came across my mind,.... while working with the various settings, I have both Nvidia Control Panel & Nvidia Inspector installed. Each of these have P3D listed in their application list, so how would they interact with the native P3Dv4 settings? Would the Nvidia Control Panel settings override P3Dv4? Would Nvidia Inspector override Control Panel? Vice Versa? Is there some sort or prioritization going on that I'm not aware of? Just trying to understand how all 3 interact with each other, and should I cons…

I am about to purchase P3Dv4 and once I get it set up, plan on purchasing Global Base Pack and openLC North America as the first addons. Then I will proceed with different 3rd party airport scenery and PMDG a/c. My question: How much impact does Global Base Pack and openLC North America have on your P3Dv4 system? Thanks.

I have moved from FSX to Prepa3d V4. I am running PMDG 777 i7-4790K, 4.00ghz, gtx970, orbx, MT6, AS16, ASCA and trackir. Everything starts great with fairly high settings smooth no stutters. But it seems that when I get to landing (ie KLAX-CYYZ or CYYZ-KLAX, cyvr-cyyz cyyz-cyvr) and taxiing into the gate I get some micro stutters (annoying and noticable). So I go to gate outside view (which was smooth most of the flight) and pan around I get the stutters so I play with every setting but they do not go away (test by panning around). I turn down everything, try weather off, try trackir off, hdr off, ai off, dynamic lighting off lower settings etc. Nothing seems to get …

Ok so, I recently got Prepar3D V4 and everything is working very well! :) I have a physics IA to do (International Baccalaureate) and I was wondering if it is possible to extract telemetry data from the sim (kind of how x-plane 11 can send telemetry data to a notepad) . Well, I don't have x-plane 11 and this project is due in a few weeks. I was wondering if there's some freeware add-on out there that allows me to extract just the most basic data like speed, altitude, etc... -Fed

Does anybody have any suggestions for an easy way to install a lot (i.e. 50 or so) of photorealistic scenery files into P3D v4? I'm a bit daunted considering the sheer number of scenery.cfg entries (or where ever one needs to install into a file). I guess I have been spoiled by the way FSDT does it by automatically moving the files and doing the modifications behind the scenes. Mesh file suggestions also would be appreciated. Is there anyway to cut and paste into v4 scenery.cfg or its successor? Many thanks! P. PS Yes, I am making an assumption that there are no issues with photo files in v4.

I'm having this issue with auto gen at destination area, every thing start great on departure airport/area (for example from ORD to JFK or vice versa), every thing is loaded and filled to the horizon in ORD (well, almost because I still can see some square are still loading but at a distance), but when I reach destination JFK, things looks blurred and things start to pop up slowly one square after another when I'm overhead that area (trees, houses, buildings, etc....), I have changed my video card from GTX 780 OC to GTX 1080Ti OC to overcome this issue with no luck, any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Is the TFDI 717 available in P3D v4 yet? The add on manger says "coming soon" but I've seen people on youtube running it in V4. Can someone point me in the right direction to get it in V4? Thanks

Hi All, I am running the P3Dv4 with all the Orbx--PMDG 747 and 777 and Active Sky Beta---I am having no crashes and no problems even with an old cards (two 760's and a 3.2 I7 processor and 24 Gig of Ram. My question is---I think I saw on one of the forums that someone was running rex with V4---is this correct or am I just dreaming? Cheers Dorn

Before the announcement of v4 I had the impression that we'd have to wait months to get the core add-ons to work. With great surprise the last two days it seems this will be a much shorter transition. For that reason I took the decision to format my computer and install only v4 on May 30. Being also an XP11 user, I'll spend some more time there meanwhile. My only real big loss for the moment will be the Majestic Q400, which as it seems it will take more months until it works in v4. Now, while we wait for May 30, have you decided what you'll do?

I remember trying this a long time ago in V3 and it didn't work then either. I have for a long time setup graphics setting profiles for different location based on getting slightly over 30fps with VSYNC off and unlimited frames. Perhaps about 35 at worst. I'd call the setting after the airport I was flying out of for example "KJFK Heavy" for a PMDG or "KJFK GA" for A2A or something less demanding. once I found the sweet spot I'd turn on Vsync and voila, buttery smooth 30fps locked by my 30hz display. I have tried other strategy's to get the sim to run smoothly and I notices that the sim if you turn your setting high enough almost natively looks for 20fps and its quit…

Hello, I recently switched from FSX: SE to P3D v4 and I'm still playing around with the settings. I did notice however that P3D loads up much slower then FSX: SE (which has more addons installed). Loading time is 2 minutes and then another 30 seconds to initialize. The add-ons that I currently use with P3D are: - ENVTEX - FTX Global - FTX openLC NA - URP v1.1 I've also included my settings. I hope someone can clear things up for me as to why the loading times have increased significantly (I guess this probably has to do with the high resolution textures?). With all the great 3rd party apps and add-ons for P3D/FSX out there. Wouldn't it be great to see some of the very best ones come together and become 1 great add-on? Kind of like the iPhone when it 1st came out. It toook the best of the iPod, email, a web-browser and combined it into 1 amazing device that changed the world forever. What about taking that same concept to making 1 useful app or plugin for P3D that would make this a must have app for flying. I will demonstrate what I'm talking about. I would like for my speedbrakes/spoilers to work in analog and not digital mode... default its either extended all the way or retracted all the way, I can't manually set them to the exact settings I want. Is there a way to assign the spoilers extend/retract mode to a button on a joystick, so for example if I hold button A for a while it will slowly and gradually extend the spoilers until I let go of the button and so forth? This would make it much easier to control the plane during approaches.
