My twin saitek/logitech quadrant base arrived today from cockpitphd, its a injected molded base for twin quadrants, while clipping the quadrants to my desk want a problem, i found i was backing my chair on them regularly or if i top mounted I could not use the mouse, so i went for this bas, which now gives me my right hand space back for mouse control and I can position my quadrants here its most comfortable to use and it the set up at the moment is a little high, but i have plans to grab a small table and sit it to the right of my chair to have a more authentic feel I purchased them directly from cockpitphd instead of going through a local reseller, it took about 2…

OK, so I'm spending a fair amount of time flying the NGX for a VA I've just joined, and I'm finding that I'm constantly tabbing out to Pro ATC/X during taxi (both ends of the flight) to check where I should be going. I'm sure in real life pilots have airport charts, but that's about the best solution I've found so far for viewing the in game airport layout - I've got the demo of Navigraph's charts product installed, and whilst it's great, it has the same problem most products I've found have in that it shows the real world airport layout, which often doesn't match the in game one. In the past people always were told to disable indexing for the drive/partition where FS is installed. I wonder if this still is true on today's modern HW with super fast SSDs and the latest incarnation of Windows 10. Anyone who knows?

I'm looking at adding Aerosoft's Frankfurt professional to P3Dv4. Anyone who owns it that can give an honest opinion about it? I'm on the fence.

All of a sudden my V key for screen captures in V4 stopped working. Even though I have tried re-assigning it in the controls menu, and it shows it's there, it won't capture any pix. Does anyone have a possible suggestions?

I have just got P3D V4 on my pc and in my scenery.cfg ftx creates a Area.000 line with openlc and it causes the game loading to stop ay 6%. When i remove it the game starts working but then when I reload ftx central it will automatically create that line again. I installed scenery configrator which said theres a duplicate index and when i fix it using the scenry config tool p3d will not load the orbx scenery eventhough it shows in the scenery library in p3d. I also installed free mesh x but i dont know what order to put it in because when i add them and put the patch file at the top it says that there is something wrong with Scenery order and then when it rebuilds it all…

I am aware that there is a already a guide on installing freemesh however I think it is outdated and the latest download gives me windows batch files. When I extract them I get apps that can't be ran on my system. Anyone know why and a guide on how to install it would be much appreciated. Thanks Bilal Khaled

Hi All, I switched from a 256x1080 wide-screen monitor to a 4K TV. Would you be able to advise graphics settings for this setup. Do I still need NVI?, I remember reading its not required on 4K. My I7-7700k is OC GHz and run on a GTX 970. Should I have AA enabled in P3D, and what x MSAA should I use. Thanks

Hi guys, Noticed this problem recently with the taskbar still being visible when in 'full screen' (borderless mode) With it, a slight reduction in performance. It has nothing to do with locking the tasbar or visibility in desktop mode as that feature was never turned on or off. It seems like P3d is unable to go into this full screen mode. Is anyone else getting this and any fix?

So I noticed that some of the airports in P3D are in a depression like KSEA in the picture bellow. Airports such as this are a pain to land because the T7 seems to hit an invisible wall a few feet above which screws up my landing. Is there a way to fix those airports to correct elevation? I'm using ORBX OpenLC Europe/NA, Vector and Base. I'm also not using any payware airports.

I thought I'd try Chaseplane (I'm a former EZdok user), and it really gave me a basic problem that I hope someone here can help me with. When I first started Prepar3dv4 after installing Chaseplane, my VC was large and was unable to be moved via my controller's hatswitch. After trying to get Chaseplane's interface to correct the problem, I became rather frustrated with it, and I've decided I don't like the Chaseplane interface, and I requested a refund from the developer.. I've uninstalled Chaseplane, but my VC in all aircraft is frozen and unable to be moved by hatswitch. Seems the hatswitch works in spot view and other views...just not in VC. I've tried a RESTORE,…

Hello, I've been using P3D v4 for around a month. With medium settings, I used to get around 50-70 fps in external views, and 30-40 fps in the VC. Now, since the last few days, I am having random frame rate drops. When initially loading the flight, I get good frame rates outside & in the VC. After some time FPS drops to 10 in the VC and around 25 outside. If I access any menu item and go back to the flight, FPS will bounce back to 30 in the VC, but after a while it will fall back down to 10. This happens irrespective of the Scenery loaded and aircraft being flown. I have tried various AM tweaks, disabled DL, disabled detailed precipiation, locking fps …

I have FsrealWX that provides live weather for P3D. I also have REX to provide cloud textures. However when displaying overcast it just displays loads of cumulus clouds in the sky rather than a smooth overcast covering. Anyone know why and how I can get proper overcast textures. So I asked this elsewhere but figured I'd extend the question to AVSim, hoping for some more input. I know there's a lot of browser based live ATC streams available and I do tune in occasionally. However, I figured it would be a really cool effect if you had an addon that would simply get your altitude / position, then tune you into the nearest most appropriate live ATC available, with no further action from the user. Not expecting anything fancy of having to manually tune the frequencies and wouldn't mind it being not completely accurate, as long as it tunes you to an available stream that's in your region at least. Hey guys, I hope this is the correct forum section for this, if not please do point me to it. I was fiddling about with my first Carenado purchase and came across the tip to use the XMLTools64. I downloaded the lib from fsdeveloper eventhough I already had one sitting in my P3DV4 directory. I used the installer and it installed fine. Then it added its lines to dll.xml in appdata. Since I noticed no change, I turned on content error reporting and sure enough [error.0] error=Error loading "XMLTools64.dll." in "C:\Users\sim\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\DLL.xml." this showed up. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> …

I am looking to use a different HSI with a heading bug as a pop up window. I am currently using the HSI from the default Baron, but I don't like the red flag in it which obscures my view. If anyone can point me in the right direction on where to download or copy a new one, I would be most grateful. Thanks John

Hello Guys, Took a short flight yesterday to KDCA, first time since changing to P3D4. Many buildings missing in Washington while flying down the Potomac, and there are no terminal buildings at National Airport. Using global, vector, NA land class, FS global 2018 mesh. Ran AEC tool in FTX. Most sliders fully right, building slider maxed. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

I am seeing something odd. I just purchased P3d4 and the installation went fine. Occasionally, I use Geek Uninstaller to go through old programs that I don't want or need in order to create HD space. As I was scrolling through the various programs, I noticed that Prepare3D v4 Academic is listed a 32 bit application. Is there such an animal? Geek uninstaller does highlight 64 bit applications, so to note that P3d4 is 32 bit got me worried and confused. You can see for yourself. Geek uninstaller is a very good free uninstaller. How does one know that p3d4 is truly 64 bit. I'd like to hear from the more knowledgeable. tony

Hey everyone. I was so interested in flight simming back in 2013-2014 and this forum actually helped me a lot. I was using a mid-range setup and wasn't satisfied with the performance. Last version I used was 2.4 or 3 I think. Anyway, I started collage and bought a laptop which has 7700hq, 16gigs ram and gtx1050ti (4gb). I'm considering getting back to simming again. I know I shouldn't expect such a big difference, but new versions of P3D seems promising for me with the improvisations. I'm not looking for high settings, just want to run my sim smoothly in low-mid settings with some scenery and aircraft addons. So what do you guys think about…

When do you expect to see a flyable A380 so Qualitywings standard and up for P3D V4 or V3

Can someone tell me if this aircraft works with P3d version 3.4.18? The Flight Sim Store says it works with versions 1.4 and 2.0. I have version 3.4.18. Thank You Bill McCracken

After playing around a bit with PTA and URP trying out different shaders and presets I all of a sudden noticed how my aircraft no longer would cast shadows on the ground. I then tried restoring the default shaders and cleared the shaders cache but the issue was still there. I did get my aircraft to cast shadows on itself but not on the ground. I tried unchecking all shadows and then re-enabled them but still same thing. Now I'm currently restoring my system to a state where I know the shadows worked normally but still thought I would ask if someone else experienced the same thing and managed to find out what was causing the issue?
