Hi guys, thinking about getting a payware heli (or two ). Any thoughts on a good first purchase? Can you guys give recommendations on 1) best "training" helicopter - challenging but I would be learning the principles with stability augmentation or other "aids", and 2) best heli with automation and instrumentation like a BK117 or similar? When I run Xplane in windowed mode or in full-screen mode with my mouse clicking outside, my FPS is almost halved, from 40-50fps to 20 fps. Is this usual?

Hi all I have recently purchased X-Plane 10 Global from my Steam account but not been able to fly yet and it is so frustrating. All the default planes just end up going around in circles and nothing more as I do not have any control what so ever?I cannot taxi, fly or anything apart from sit in an aircraft :( No I don't have a set of peddles and I only have a 2 axis joy stick. No where did I read or see this being mentioned any were? The demo appeared to work OK, I took off flew around and was wow'd. But now I beginning to think this purchase was a mistake! My DK2 oculus rift arrived four days ago. Since then I haven't played anything that uses a screen. My main simulations are flying and racing. So far only a couple of titles have rift support that works with the new DK2, one racing simulator and DCS World. I will leave out the racing for this forum but my impressions are pretty much the same for that as they are for flying. Brilliant I can't wait for x-plane to get the rift support going that they have planned. It really changes they way you feel in a simulator. I have mostly flow FSX, but I've read the pros and cons of the three big sims out there and figured there's no reason that I shouldn't try them all at some point. when flying along, houses and trees pop in on the terrain below the aircraft directly, and around it., especially in cities, is this because of VRAM? it says in GPUZ I still have 800MB to play with? Thanks Ian

Alright so here we go, I love skymaxx pro they have done such an incredible job with the clouds/shadows/sun/sky etc.... However for some reason I always find myself uninstalling it and using the default clouds with the Datarefs editor to set cloud shadows/hue/atmospheric scattering and such. And end up in the end sitting here and uninstalling and reinstalling skymaxx pro v2 because I am always on the fence of what I prefer. I just wanted to ask all the X-Plane simmers opinions on what they prefer? For me something that really helps me with immersion is the fact that when a cloud comes over and my airplane/cockpit the cockpit also goes dark and so far I haven't been able t…

Hi All, I have never really had good frame rates 15 to 20FPS, I mainly fly around Australia Sydney & YSSY. Much of it is Photo scenery. When running MSI afterburner I notice my memory pagefile is constantly maxed out at 1600MB and I was wondering if getting more memory would increase performance. Computer specs are I7 4770K @ 4,400mhz 16gb 1600 Ram x2 500gb SSD GTX 770 4GiG overclocked When i load up the rendering options I am running a Texture resolution at Very High, if i go to extreme i get around 2fps As i sit on the runway the total size of all loaded textures is 2428.76meg GPU memory is maxed out at 3.8gig Pagefile is maxed out at 16gb…

If I wanted to edit the weather profiles (especially visibility) of the presets shown in the Quick Flight menu, where in the X-Plane folder / files would I have to look? Can't seem to find them... Does anyone have experience with microstutters when going low and fast in HDR mode? I can't seem to get rid of those while I am locked at 30 fps via driver ("Adaptive VSYNC"). I crank up the objects slider to "extreme" and LOD to "high", and take a fast jet to fly low over a dense area, such as Brooklyn for example. I get 30fps with the 6GB 780GTX (even a stock overclocked one from ASUS), BUT I also get microstutters, every few seconds, which totally ruin the experience. I am aware that I am pushing X-Plane to the limits here, especially considering that I conducted this test in a F-16 at 500 kts. But it bothers me that the system seems to be able to handle this sm…

I can find an expensive Garmin 450 Tutorial designed for real life flying. And I can find YouTube video tutorials but they move too quickly for me (at age 83). I'm wondering if there are text tutorials that would give me the basics of how to navigate? Cliff

Like many others here, I was awaiting with bated breath the arrival of SkyMaxx Pro 2.0 and its numerous improvements. The new HD puff textures are great, the cloud shadows add depth to the overall scene, and the lens flare is a nice, cinematic touch. However, I seem to be having issues when it comes to SkyMaxx's representation of real weather. To be clear, I fully understand that SkyMaxx is not a weather injector in the vein of Active Sky or Opus and I fully understand that SkyMaxx can only work with the information that is provided to it by X-Plane.
