I am a P3Dv4.5 user now and have been in P3D since it was introduced. Have thought about trying XP, but downloaded the free tryout version, and was very disappointed with the default scenery. The default scenery on P3D is also generally unusable in my opinion, but I don't think any serious simmers use it as there are scores of great Orbx scenery to use. It seems that Orbx offers XP TE sceneries for Great Britain and Washington state in the U.S., but I think TE will overtax my machine (I have it for P3D and it isn't workable). So in general, what are the addon scenery options available for XP outside of airports and Orbx TE?

Since the last update, the engine sounds of the 737 have changed. I'm sort of ok with that, but we've traded clicking and clacking in the cockpit for no tire/landing thud on touchdown or rumble on takeoff ?

I have just replaced my XP10 with XP11. Now what is the best way to enhance it ? What are the must or strongly recommended addons for it ? I am in the first hand thinking about free ware scenery enhancement but can also consider payware. For now I already have X camera (not registered) and the SM Beaver plane (my only payware) and some airports from the XP10 installation. When giving recommendations also consider my system. For example I have found an UHD mesh where it was stated minimum 32 GB RAM recommended 64 Gb which meant a NO NO for me. I'm trying to sort out my trees (!) and several of the addon packages I've downloaded include replacement entries for files in the X-Plane "\Resources . . ." folder. I'd prefer to have these entries as overrides rather than replacements (so I can easily drop back to the standard resouce files) so my question is - can I create an additional folder (something like "Custom Resources", for instance) to contain any replacement entries and then reference the new folders via sortcuts/links in the Custom Scenery/Scenery_packs.ini environment? thanks in advance for any advice

Hi XP Folks, Have finally managed to get Ortho4xp to work (I think). Built an area around KSAT (+29-099) using GO2 images. Looks great except that a couple of the default airports don't fit the ortho image. KSAT is shifted a little and looks a bit odd around taxiways, etc. But when I flew to KBAZ (New Braunfels) the ortho and airport scenery are offset by maybe a couple thousand feet. It's very disconcerting on approach to see two airports. Is this typical? Did I do something wrong? Should I just select a different ortho? Just not sure how to proceed from here. I will continue to test and try different combinations but would certainly appreciate any advice …

I am looking for a downloadable program to get moving and flying air traffic in X-Plane 11. I have FSX with Ultimate Traffic 2, and even FS 2004 has programs you can download to get live air traffic. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks

Includes a fix for a minor bug I reported--PROCS could not be loaded for Vegas because of missing 25L info, first bug I ever reported during the public betas and kudos to Xplane for including the fix in this release, I enjoy flying in and out of Vegas often since many of my flights are from California, or Arizona or Northern Nevada/Utah in VLJ's like the Citation Mustang. Hi. I am having a problem with the throttle lever of the tbm. When I put it in flight idle, after starting the engines and introducing the fuel, the throttle lever goes crazy and accelerates to the maximum and I cannot reduce it with the joystick. I tried restarting the simulator and the plane and this still happening, I also reconfigure my controls and still happens ... help please!

As a new X-Plane user I was really surprized when I connected to Vatsim for the first time and saw other aircraft floating 5 meters above the ground or buried so deep I could only see a tip of their tail sticking above the surface. We all know this is a problem coming from the fact that people use different terrain meshes and different simulators. Sometimes it's better and sometimes it's worse, depending on the mesh quality of FSX/P3D. This is also a limitation of XSquawkbox, as it's not using any 'on the ground' flag (yet). For the low and slow enthusiasts, check out the 'Carbon Cub' just released by 'Big Tire'. It's their version of the 'Light Sport' Super Cub. Nicely modelled and flies like a dream - down the final, full flaps, with 40 or so indicated and solid as a rock - enough left to flare and go thunk with those big tires.

Strange question and I'm pretty sure this can't be done, but I'm going to ask anyway. Does anyone know if it's possible to export the data from a Google Earth KML file showing a flight path (I got it from Flightaware) and import it so as to have fixes shown on the GPS in X-Plane? I'm wanting to recreate a specific flight that I'm interested in and would like to get it as close as possible. The KML I got from Flightaware shows the actual flight path and I want to either view XP in Google Earth as a moving map or convert the KML to some other format to use as a moving map if it isn't possible to import the path data otherwise. This may be a dumb question but have always heard the dumb ones were the ones not asked. I watched the X-plane set up video describing how to set the sliders to get the optimum performance from your computer system with the new X-plane 11. I might have missed it but where do we set our NVIDEA control panel settings? Do we set them to the "Default" setting for the current driver we have installed and the "X-plane.exc" selected? Or do we make some adjustments to the GPU via this panel in addition to the internal X-plane 11 settings? Hi friends 🙂 The default B738 is my favorite airplane in this sim. I cannot use the excellent Zibo mod because it destroys FPS on my PC, I get 10-15 FPS with it, default 737 gives me 30+ FPS. I found a good replacement CFM56 soundset which is a huge difference from the default vacuum cleaner sounds. However when the plane is parked at the gate with engines off there is complete silence in external view. How to get an APU sound to play when I press SHIFT + 4 (external camera?) There is an APU wav file in the systems folder of the B738: Aircraft\Laminar Research\Boeing B737-800\sounds\systems\b738 APU.wav ..but still theres no APU sound at all …

I recently bought X-Plane on the steam summer sale. The out of the box experience was worse then stock P3d. Looks worse, aircraft feel like their on rails, aircraft systems are very basic, sloped runways were pretty cool though. I was about to get a refund when I realized, i am not giving it a fair chance. My P3D lives on its Mods. Any suggestions? I love king air so Airfoil labs King air I am going to try for sure. Maybe a cool airport or 2 from ORBX, Juno or Maybe Ketchican., Any other mods that are must have to get the X-Plane experience?

I have owned over a dozen flightsims in my life, finally tried Xplane (version 11 trial). I don't think I would purchase the paid version unless I can get Reshade to brighten up the faded out textures of Xplane. Unfortunately I cannot get Reshade to open in the trial version. I downloaded Reshade 4.3 and ran it's executable, pointing it to X-plane.exe file and chosing DX10+. This put a reshade-shaders folder under the main Xplane folder. But when I run Xplane 11 (trial) and push Control F2 absolutely nothing happens, reshade windows do not appear at all. Nothing to do with reshade appears at all ?? Is it the best Cessna 172 available for XP 11 ? How does it compare to the FSX A2A C172 ? Would be interesting to hear from someone who have used both ?

I'm trying to find a dataref or a setting that allows me to control the number of cloud puffs drawn on a ring by ring basis. I found a dataref that decreases the number of cloud puffs but the first thing it does is to do away with clouds farthest from you. I want to adjust number of puffs on each ring so I can try different cloud styles.

Greetings, Did the most recent XPlane update incorporate a version of head shake? Couple weeks ago XPlane updated on my computer. Had a couple download issues that were resolved. After that I started noticing a slight head shake with certain views. Never noticed this before. I’m running a pretty much plain vanilla version and mostly fly the Hot Start TBM.
