Yes I cannot believe this but I've tried both a Winfast(Leadtek)Geforce 2 Titanium 64mb card and a Leadtek Geforce 4 Ti4000 128mb card in my new system and they both cause lockups and in particular in any games ...it's just hopeless. The MX versions are fine ..no problems with the Geforce 2 MX and the Geforce 4 mx but its all to do with the voltage of the AGP Slot for the Pentium 4. I've had a top computer specialist shop that has just discovered this. The Titaniums need more than 1.5volt that the AGP4x 2.0 slot can offer.... so it seems ....something is dreadfully wrong here !! Most boards I looked at the specs only quote AGP at 4X 1.5v and some have an adjustment in the b…

I recently upgraded my FS pc as follows:ASUS A7V333 mb with Via chipset driver ver latest(new)Athlon XP2000 1.667mh (new and NOT overclocked)PC2100 DDR (existing and waiting DDR2700)Visiontek GeForce3 (existing)Nvidia driver 27.30 (existing)Whenever I access FS2002, I get the blue screen of death message0E exception at 0028:c0059F65 VxD__ called from 0028:C1B1D4D7.This happened when I installed the VIA drivers and selected turbo mode. So I deleted my FS2002 cfg file and rebooted. FS2002 came up in full screen mode and re-created the cfg file. Then I copied into this config all of the other parameters I had in the backup file, crated and left over from my previous board…

Hi:Thanks in large part to many suggestions in this forum, I'm going to be purchasing components for my new system today. I'd like to know if, when I purchase my AMD XP 2000+ processor, I should:A) Buy the retail version that has the cooling fan attached? (A side note...will this be enough cooling for the processor?)or :( Buy the OEM version and buy a separate cooling fan -- like a volcano or dynatron?A paradox? Or an easy decision? Thanks,Chris

I am running FS2002 on an Intel PIII 733 MHz system with 256MB and Intel 810e graphics chipset. The video RAM with this setup is only 10M so underspec for FS2002. The system works and I'm enjoying FS2002 but I reckon a cheap and cost effective upgrade would be to buy a separate video card and so get smoother simulation. I also reckon that there's probably no point me paying top price for the latest generation cards. Unfortunately I have only PCI slots - no AGP slots - which restricts my choice. Is my reasoning sound? If it is, which video card(s) might best suit my requirements? I'd appreciate any advice or pointers to relevant reviews. Thanks, John.4m NW of EGHI.

I never thought I'd be asking this!I'm attempting to install Windows XP into a brand new PC that I've built. Discussing this on some of the XP and other forums around, the issue I'm having appears to be hardware related. I've 'dumbed down" the hardware to a bare minimum for the XP install. I've had a few people respond with "try an older PCI video card, then once XP is up un-install it and install your new one" (GeForce 3 Ti200). Apparently XP just doesn't like hardware about which it has no knowledge, and when installing XP you don't have the advantage of being able to install drivers, etc.Just where would I get an older PCI video card from, though? The last one I h…

Below is the text of my post in the general forum. It is a message I think needs to be said. It is a definite statement about myself. Thanks to all those who have been answering my issues in getting a new system up and running. I've been running into lots of issues getting WinXP to install- both as the only OS on C:, and now as a multi-boot on D:. I have some of those 'ever-so-interesting' "stop" codes that I thought I'd try and get info on. Any good forums would be appreciated. For anyone interested here: I did finally get WinXP installed, and it even appears now to boot reliably, after a dozen failed attempts at installation. Each install would start with the message "One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency". I have no idea of what that means, but the first stop code included a messa…

I'm building a new system, and tonight attempted to load WinXP (Home Upgrade edition) onto C:, and just insert a Win98 CD when it looked for another OS to update- which it did OK. However, the install hung in the phase where hardware detection takes place, and of course the OS is not intelligent enough to tell you what's hapening at that point. Does this sound familiar to anyone?I've since installed Win98 on C:, with no issues, and plan tomorrow evening to install WinXP onto another partition, using the multi-boot option with XP. Thanks, I'll be done one day! Every day 2 steps forward and 1 back, but that's the fun of doing your own build :)Bruce.

Just built my new system. FIC AD-11 MBoard with Athlon XP1900+, 512 MB Ram. All of the drivers and patches are correctly installed, along with Direct-X 8.1 update. FS2002 crashes randomly. Sometimes it won't load at all and will go back to the desktop, or other times it will run for a minute and then give me that damn "error report to micosoft" screen, at which point it will lock up, and other times it will simply freeze or give me the dreaded blue "fatal exception" screen. I was using an ATI All-In-Wonder 128 PRO AGP card. I took it out and put in an old PCI card, which worked perfectly with FS2002. So I went out and bought a new NVidia G-Force MX440...and I'm ri…

With 2 IDE ports on an ABit BD-7II board, and 2 HD's and one DVD drive, I assume using the 2 HD's in master/slave config and the DVD on IDE2 is the best use of the ports. Any other ideas / suggestions? Thanks,Bruce.

Hi guys,Firstly, thanks for the help and interest you provided me week ago in the A7 POST error I was having. Braun, it appeared from a post of your's that it could be a BIOS version incompatibility with the new 1.8AG P4 (512 L1 cache). Here's an update: I exchanged the ABit BD-7 for a BD-7II (which is advertised by ABit as having "support for new Pentium processors"). The new board does not have a hex display, however it did go into continuous beep mode shortly after turn-on.I had also gotten a response from TomsHardware, suggesting the A7 error (Award BIOS) could be a memory error. I purchased locally a 128 stick of PC-2100, and this seemed to do the trick. More strang…

I've activated WinXP on another PC, and about to install it in a new PC. I understand that the NIC has the most weight in the hardware checksum that forms a part of the activation. Should I transfer the NIC from the existing PC to the new one, to avoid errors when re-activating with MS? If so, I would imagine that the old PC will not work with a new NIC, given the existing checksum stored for comparison on boot-up. Anyone done this and can suggest if reloacting the original NIC is necessary? Thanks,Bruce.

Hello, I just upgraded from a GeForce 2 MX 200 to a GeForce 4 MX 440. Now aircraft and water reflections, and detail textures do not work. I've tried everything and I can't seem to get it to work. In DX diag, AGP texture accel is not available. I installed Power Strip and AGP Transfer mechanism is disabled and AGP appature is n/a. I have the latest drivers from NVidia and ALi (AGP controller). I also have the latest BIOS. I've seen some other posts in the flight sim 2002 forum that address the same problems. I have been having some problems lately such as reboots and quick flashes of blue screens. So I installed the PC Probe software and now I continue to get alerts.Cpu temperatures range from 58c and 62c which I believe might be a little high ?It is alerting most often to the voltage monitor page and flashing on +3.3v part as I seem to be getting readings of 3.65 and higher showing a red spot on the graph. Also the vcore reading is 1.82The cpu heatsink and fan are clean and sitting correctly. I also have applied a thin layer of Artic Silver. However the temps remain the same. Here's a bit of a stupid question, does the heatsink and fan work best if blowing into or out of the …

I posted this in the General discussions forum, but wanted to post here too.I noticed that when I use my mouse to activate a switch on the panel of ANY plane, (DF, PSS, Default) they make their click sound only once. After that, I NEVER hear cockpit environment sounds again. I still have engines, gears, flaps and ATC, but no more cockpit enviro sounds! I have the latest version of FSSound.dll and FSUIPC, and the latest drivers for my sound card. I am running Win98SE, DX8.1, SB Audigy Gamer, FS2002. Can anyone please please please help?thx!-drew
