Guys.... I am about to build my new system for FSX. I will be new to FSX and have seen lots of post about Nick and Bojote's recommendations.Question: Do I need to follow all those recommendations....if yes which one do I start with...Nick's or Bojote's (*******)?I want to make sure my experience with FSX is both good eye-candy and good performance, as well. Thanks,John

Hi , I am going to be doing an upgrade of my motherboard, CPU , memory and graphics card. I will be keeping my SSD drives, with my install of windows, FSX and my scenery untouched. My question is this: Will my existing installation of windows on the "see" all the new hardware etc ok when I plug the drive in and do all the necessary re adjustments to setting etc, or will I need to re install windows from scratch. And if this is the case, what about my FSX install ( Its on a separate drive to my windows) Any advice appreciatedCheers, Mark

Allright, I think I have my new build hardware finallized, except the drives. It's a dual use home system and for FSX so I would like to setup at least a raid 1 (mirror) for redundancy. Is it possible to have a raid 1 setup (2 drives) for the operating system and program files and just install FSX on a 3rd single non-array velociraptor drive or similar for better speed? Or, would an all in one raid 1+0 with 4 drives work better? Thanks everyone for all of the advice recently!-- edit, I'm not worried if I the FSX drive should fail, because I can just re-install if needed.David

I've tested my new i7-930 and made a quick simple OC to 3.8 ghz (no voltage change). I have a Geforce 250GTS - and my fsx is not perfoming very convising. My old Quadcore 9650 @ 3.0 ghz with a 9600GTX card is actually almost as fast as the new setup. So my question is - could it be the graphics card?Or could it be the OC is done "too simple"Or something else.I use Windows 7 64-bit, 6 gb RAM + Geforce 250GTS.

I'm building a new system shortly, and would want to install my existing copy of Windows XP onto it (although I'll be using the same HD, I figure an OS re-install is necessary with a new mobo).Regarding the MS validation process for XP: has anyone run into issues with this? I understand that maybe the NIC is the most weighted component in the "check-sum" equation, and this will be the same as currently used- in fact it's just a new mobo, CPU and DDR memory at the moment. Thanks for any help- I've also heard the validation process is reset by MS after 120 days- or so I read in PC World a few months ago. Anyone that can validate that? Thanks,Bruce.

I have an older Q6600 on a Gigabyte X38T-DQ6 board, 4GB DD3-1600 RAM, running Win 7 / 64 bit with a GTX 460 (1 GB). I had previously mildly overclocked the CPU to 3GHz (333 X 9), and it ran stable. After noticing last night that it seemed to be running slower then before, I looked at BIOS and found that the manual FSB setting was back to "Auto", giving a CPU speed of 2.4 GHz. I tried re-enabling my OC but it always shut down and reset to Auto after trying to boot.I finally tried setting the FSB to manual, but the FSB to default speed (would still yield 2.4 GHz), and it shut down on reboot again, and then started with the Auto setting. Seems it is not happy with the F…

Hey,When I am landing to KJFK (or another very busy airport) with LDS 767 or PMDG 747, AI 50-70%. If there is any AI traffic or clouds, Frames go all the way down. Should I get a new CPU like intel i7 950? Or another video card like GTX 480? Right now I have I7 870 that is running at 3.6 Ghz. But I doesn't seem to be enough.Edit: And I use FSX

Greetings! I´m about to leave my old PC and would like to hear your thoughts about these core hardware choices. Do they "play nice" together? I´m also wondering about the CPU and GPU, is the performance of the pricier ones worth the extra cost? Morning,First off, please know I have been out of the tech-loop for a while. Also, I'm not that bright anyway, so please be gentle. My rig: E6700 dual-core on an Asus P5N socket LG775 MB w/ 4GB Corsair DDR2 RAM and an 8800GTS 640 Video card. X-Fi sound card, 650W PSU, all in an Antec 900 case. The question: I have a couple of bucks for an upgrade and am considering a new CPU that will fit my present MB. The 9650 Quad-Core will fit my board and looks to be a much faster CPU than my E6700. This will set me back about $350, not petty cash for me, and given my specs seems to be a good upgrade. And all I have to do is swap CPUs, nothing else. But with all these i7 CPUs, I'm wonde…

Hi guys.I have three hard drives on my computer at the moment, but I would like to try a SSD. The three drives run XP 32 ..Vista 64....and Win 7 64. My first question is...can the new SSD drive also run Win 7? When I start my computer at the moment I get a choice of which drive (OS) to boot up,but if I put Win 7 on the new drive what will happen? My second question is do I need to install any OS at all on this drive, and just use it for FSX and add ons? If that's a silly question please forgive me,but I am not too clear on this.Thank you for any help or advice you can give me.All the best.Dennis
