You can see how the clouds start engulfing the approach path and the runway becomes difficult to see with all the rain and fog. Producing some minor downdrafts, one of which gave us a bit of a scare. The lesson was clear, be cautious any time thunderstorms are reported. They can and could sneak up on you. Musi…

I've never had a Garmin BSOD on me: After it rebooted and did the same thing, just shut it off. Anyway, beautiful evening to do a couple of practice approaches in the Bonanza. Here we're getting vectors after going missed on an RNAV approach to return back home and shoot the ILS: And, short final before paying the bill for the gas and heading home:

I am Alcides, this is my story. What a month May has been, I have produced three videos in May and I am really excited to see the work I have put out. I thought that my story might motivate some of you young future pilots out there. I have been in Flight Simulator since 2003. I fell in love with aviation because a pilot from US airways showed me the cockpit in a flight from Nashville to La Guardia when I was 10 years old. I remember seeing that cabin and seeing the crew go through their flows and thinking " This is my destiny". Since that day I did anything possible to stay connected with aviation. Flight Simulator was my only refuge. I remember thinking that flight…

Simmers, Never thought to share my spotting photos here, but as I haven't been able to sim for the past four months as a result of two separate computer crashes and some very bad timing, and as I wait to get my new computer (desktop this time, with 16GB RAM, GTX770, i7-4790K, etc...), I've been doing a lot of it at my home airport of CYVR. Coincidentally, tonight I find myself in St. John's, NL, flying back tomorrow with stops in CYUL and CYHZ (any CYUL, CYHZ or CYYT spotters send me a PM if you read this !), I thought I'd share some of my favourites. I'm on Instagram @dmairplane, as well as a rarely-used FlickR account (yvrspotter), and a kind-of-updated website (yvr…

Went plane spotting today. This was my first time shotting during sunset. Got to try out a couple of new techniques but most importantly I FINALLY shot the elusive UPS MD-11F that lands there at dusk. It was a Kodak moment.

I have loved airplanes since I was a kid but apart from airshows I never just went out to plane spot until today. Went with my dad and best friend to KDFW-Dallas/Fort Worth Int. I do professional photowork, usually with pretty ladies but I tried my hand at aircraft photography today. I took a lot of shots and I am very happy with the results. We even got lucky and had a Korean Air 777-200ER land right in front of us! A lot American Airlines traffic this morning. Here are a few shots from the day! Hope you like them! It was a cloudless day which made it perfect for adding much more interesting backgrounds in post production. Turned them into a triple monitor wallpaper which I am now using! Hope you like!

Some photos from the first leg of my CYYT trip. Taken on C-FIVW as AC156 from CYVR-CYYZ two Tuesdays ago. Huge thanks to the flight and cabin crew for letting me take a few photos up in the flight deck after we'd landed! Turning to final for 23 on MANS7, with the lights of Toronto below. Taken from 27K. The cockpit of C-FIVW/743 parked at the stand. An Air Canada 788 ready for pushback from Terminal 1.

My first time spotting after 8 years in photography. Mosquitos left me with a liter of my blood less in my body that evening. I couldn't hold my DSLR two seconds steadily, but managed to capture few shots, I will post the best two. Thanks for looking and feedback! Cheers!

Hello! I am also a planespotter as well as a flight sim enthusiast and a student pilot working to get my PPL. I used to have a YouTube channel called CathayA340 but I made a new one called NYCPlanespotting - on CathayA340 I had 1200 subscribers and more than 100,000 views, and the new channel doesn't have as many so I'm working to get them back Here's the link to the channel I upload my planespotting videos on ; https://www.youtube.com/user/NYCPlanespotting They are from JFK and there are also some in flight videos in there. I also take pictures of course... Caribbean Airlines Boeing 737-83NWL 9Y-SLU KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Airbus A330-203 PH-AOE Aerof…

Hi A friend of mine has made some truly amazing panorama shots while riding in the backseat of an F5 of the swiss aerobatic-team "Patrouille Suisse". He had to go through the whole medical thing to be allowed to fly with them and take this shots. The site itself is in german. Just hit "Vollbild" wich means fullscreen. You can pan around 360 degrees and even zoom in. You may have to wait for the preload though, cause the panos are in highres. Enjoy, Marcel http://www.blick.ch/news/schweiz/exklusiv-360-fotos-aus-dem-cockpit-der-patrouille-suisse-so-haben-sie-die-schweiz-noch-nie-gesehen-id2991534.html#

I was returning home from a business trip to Savannah, GA. Due to weather delays leaving SAV last night, I missed my connecting flight at Detroit, and had to spend the night at the airport hotel. Since purchasing the PMDG 777-200LR last year, I have flown a couple of hundred hours in the aircraft - all trips have been in the PMDG-supplied Delta livery of N702DN, "The Spirit of Atlanta". The lastest revision to the 777 SP (SP1B) released while I was away on my trip, so I was looking forward to getting home to install the SP, and go for a flight in my favorite Delta 77L. So, this morning, when I walked into the McNamara terminal at DTW, heading toward my commuter fl…

I live around IAH and go spotting quite often, today I got a shot I'm particularly proud of and thought y'all might enjoy it, especially with the upcoming PMDG 'W' (and don't worry - this is the first livery on my list to paint). Got a last minute alert on my phone while out to lunch alerting me B-2035 was only an hour out. I hovered near the highway entrance halfway between my spotting place for runway 8L and the parking garage area for runway 8R (Hardy toll road at Rankin Road for those who want to have a look) knowing that it could get either. Initially the controller gave it 8L <_< , but then they requested a right turn to avoid weather, and at that p…
