The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum

Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
  • Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
  • Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

  2. B747-400BCF is an interesting 747 variant (or more correctly a "conversion") of the PAX B747-400, that, as a 747 (simmer) fan, has long drawn my attention. Some of you 747 simmers/lovers, from the yesteryear, may recall that there is/was an excellent 747BCF extension available for the iFly 744 (P3D users). In any case, today, in the Library, I ran into this nice looking (Posky) 747BCF model, in the color of NATIONAL AIRLINES. The -400BCF freighter is different from the (typical) -400F. The BCF is a ("Boeing" Converted Freighter) conversion of a (Pax) B747-400 (therefore, so to speak, it gives "new life to old Jumbos"...the tradition of Pax-to-Freighter (P2F) conversi…

In my last post I mentioned Tyrolean airways, once Europe´s third largest and Innsbruck-based regional carrier that was ultimately taken over by Austrian Airlines and ceased operations in March 2015. Tyrolean operated a fleet of DHC-7/8-100/300Q /400Q as well as Fokker 70/100 and CRJ 100/200 on a wide European network, also serving the Greek Islands. Here we are back in the 80s with a Tyrolean DHC-7 charter flight leaivng LGMK Mykonos for LOWI Innsbruck.

  4. Just got the new Orbx Cape Town Cityscape, and went to check it out. FACT is one of the MSFS fancy airports, and the whole area is incredibly well done. No idea if it's done in PG, but these are all with PG turned off anyway, as is customary for me. All 4k, ultra plus. Off from FACT Robben Island A place that will certainly take more exploration.

  5. Just a few days ago, I came across a couple of news articles about Southwest: Southwest Airlines raises order for smallest Boeing 737 MAX by 34 planes. The Dallas-based airline says it is increasing its order for Boeing’s smallest 737 MAX model (MAX 7) citing an improvement in travel demand. Southwest Airlines is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year (2021), with June 18 (a week from today) marking 50 years since the carrier's first commercial flight (June 18, 1971). To celebrate, Southwest has declared June 18 as Wanna Get Away Day. These bits of news about Southwest, made me reminisce, and took me back, to the days, when I occasionally used to cat…

  7. It's a beautiful day. Great weather. Powerful turbo engine. It was just a short flight from Anapa to Sochi. 6 cylinders, at full power gave excellent speed. The main thing is not to overheat this engine, I told myself. The flight was wonderful. Even the wind died down when I took the glide path. This plane, so far the only one in MSFS, I'm talking about small piston planes, which really wants to be like a real one.

  8. Got myself the VHHH the other day, to go with the Samscene HK and Macau sceneries. and thought I'd try the new C172 floats model there. A nice day out! Never been in RL, and to be honest, wouldn't want to go there - too frantic for me. My wife did a lot of trips there back in the day but my travel was mostly in the US. I also got the 1988 Kai Tak package but I haven't tried that yet. I'll post some shots once I have. cheers, Andy

  11. On my trip across London in the murk and the Optica, I got distracted by the Post Office Tower, or BT Telecom Tower or whatever it's called these days. One of those buildings that resonates with me for some reason. So here's a few shots around this (to me) rather fine construction approaching the view westwards from the top platform and looking east And from a second trip round, when the weather had cleared a bit OK, it's not the Eiffel Tower or Angkor Wat, but I like it!

  13. Today, I picked up, a couple of nice (small, but most importantly...🙂...free...!) Orbx airports, after I got directed by a recent (member) post that had featured another "free" Orbx airport. Orbx is known for creating many "little-known" tiny airfields (in addition, of course, to their set of well-known "big" airports). These small airports are often tucked away e.g. in the countrysides and mountains, or in the shorelines, islands, bays and sounds of the world. But for Orbx, I would never know or explore many of these places, in the virtual world. Surely, these "jewels" must be known to the long-term locals of the locales, so to speak, but not to the casual tourists of th…

  18. I've had the Duke piston for some time but am only now getting into it (so many great planes to fly). And the Duke is certainly one of them. But this is one thing you don't want to see out the window, especially if you're a passenger. Taken it out for an extended spin. All good so far. Engine then gets a little rough and looking out the window ! Danger Will Robinson ! Danger ! Arrgh, at this point I decided to save the flight and come back to it in the morning. The things you can do in a sim 🙂 Cheers

As I'd been thinking about trying a clean P3D install to let me use some of those old favourite aircraft that I miss in MSFS, when I saw that there was an update I grabbed it and went ahead. Complete removal of my unused 5.1 system and full fresh install of 5.2. Kept the folders from 5.1 in case I want to stick much of the scenery back on, but so far I've only bothered with the global Orbx stuff and TE Washington. Been very impressed, in the sense that all the stutters and pauses I was getting with 5.1 seem to have gone, and I'm getting smooth 30fps (capped) with everything maxed out in the settings and with EA and volumetric clouds on high. What's interesting (ish) …
