My PC is back home, but I am now experiencing graphics problems. There are numerous shimmering pixels flashing all over the screen. I am using a 128Mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card, and this problem did not exist before I sent the PC to be repaired :-fumeThe screenshot illustrates the problem. The graphics look even worse in Deus Ex : Invisible War. In fact, they look absolutely dreadful, with hundreds of shimmering chunks of graphics garbage scattered all over the screen. Why is this happening to me ? :( Chris Low.

I'm trying to get my CH Yoke and pedals to work in FU3.After trying various combinations, restarting FU3 about fifty times in the process, everything now works except the rudder pedals. Here's my config:joy_device 2toe_brakes_device 2 7 8throttle_device 2 3mixture_device 2 4prop_pitch_device 2 5rudder_device 2 6I also included the .map file I used. When I use the rudder pedals, nothing happens! I tried all combinations for rudder_device from 1 1 to 2 9 without any luck. Does FU3 support rudder pedals at all?

Well guys, after my comments regarding the colours in FU3 when using my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, I have another (bigger) problem to attend to. I powered up my PC on Saturday morning.....and then it shut down after a few seconds. Er.....****. I tried it several times, but without success. So, I disconnected all of the cables, and opened her up.Oh dear. The massive Thermaltake heatsink and fan assembly that should have been sitting directly over the CPU had decided to go for a walk :-eek It was sitting on the motherboard....together with a couple of pieces of broken black plastic. The metal bracket that was presumably used to hold this huge piece of cooling kit in position was…

I think we would all agree that the last chat (or attempt at a chat) was a flop. I'm willing to schedule the next one if... and only if... there are likely to be some attendees. Of course you guys you hold your own chats when ever you like... the room(s) is(are) there for you to use. Let me know what you want to do... please!

Some shots of flying over the Thames. These are 3D - some people can see them, some can't. Method is to train left eye to see left pic, right eye to see right pic, by looking into far distance and then bringing the two views of a distinctive object in the pics together. Anyway, you're not missing much if you can't see the 3D aspect - they're low quality pics, designed to work on a monitor at 100% scaling. If there's any interest though, I would be happy to make up some higher quality shots, eg over the Cascades (where this effect works well).First two shots have high 3D effect, middle 2 have just small 3D effect, last one is much larger and harder to see, but stronger eff…

Greetings all,I seem to recall another post along this line, but try as I might I do not seem able to find it now.I have just reloaded FU3 (Seattle/SanFran/UK South) and all work fine - except for one liitle problem. In UK South, if you choose "Quick Flight" and position the aircraft, when you go into the sim, the aircraft is in fact located some distance fom where it should be. I have also noticed that when you move the pointer to position yourself in "Qucik Flight", the 0 deg of Longitude is actually some distance to the WEST of Heathrow airport - probably as much as 50 to 60 Klms. This discrepancy is not in Seattle or SanFran.Any advice welcomed.

Hi all,I installed FU3 a long time ago under Win98, but it always crashed. I since discovered the NVidia patch, but my Win98 is now effectivly dead following hardware changes and I've tried to run this installation of FU3 (on the D drive from my old Win98) from a new W2K installation (having heard bad things about trying to install it on W2K).It seems to start, run and fly OK, except for one major problem - it can't seem to find anything other than the low-res scenery, and permenantly displays a box inviting me to "Please load the Flight Unlimited III Scenery Disk I into the CDROM"or words to that effect. I've tried loading it into the cdrom, it makes no difference, and…

Greetings all,After loading Cardiff, I am receiving a Windows message advising that "Assertion Failed" while the AI Startup is on the desktop. The attached image will give you the full message text. This message pops up at different stages of the AI Startup, but only on that screen. If I select the "Yes" option, the desktop loses the background map, goes black and the AI tracks continue to load up to 99% and then FU3 proceeds to run normally. If I select either the "NO" or "Cancel" options, I crash back to the desktop. This has only commenced since loading Cardiff, and I have the Stanstead, Heathrow and Gatwick AI loaded. I an running WinXP Pro, 1.2GHz processor, 384Mb RAM,…

While I keep using fu3 quite a LOT, I also have a strong will to re-install the FLED editor and start digging into the details of FU3 flight dynamics. I did it once, when I bought it soon after release, and when the first tools became available, but I recall very few details about the FM structure. One of the things I can't recall is if FU3 includes the possibility to model roll spoilers like in most airliners. If it does, then they should really make a difference in terms of coordinated turns on swept back wing aircraft. If it was not because of the Yaw Damper and drag caused by it's roll spoilers, a real b744 would experience pronnounced adverse yaw if yoke only was used…

I'm flying a saved flight plan LAX 2 OLM in the Beechjet. In the Flight3 manual page 79,has fuel capacity as 4912lb and range of 1669nm. My fuel flow gauges have been a steady 1500pph maybe a tad less. Watching the fuel quantity indicators, it's apparent I'm not going to make it.I've just crossed the Cal/ Or border. The MFD shows 291 miles to OLM.Looking at the map screen notepad it indicates the flight as a total of 818 nm.I did a quickee trip plan with Rand MC Trip Maker and by road its understandably much further at 1094 miles.1500pph and 4912lbs onboard at beginning of flight, shouldn't I easily make it?I hope my fuel quantity gauges are off.JimBEdit: IFE. Since getting UK-South up and running, I have been making a few flights in and out of various airports. Flying into Stanstead, I note the runway marking as 26R which seemed strange as the heading was 228 and the quick flight map gives the runway as 05/23 (this btw is correct). I had a look at the airport in Fled and the info there also says 05/23.I also noticed that Runway 23 at Heathrow is numbered 08L/26R, which leads me to think a generic runway model with 08/26 markings was used. One other thing that is confusing is the choice of radio frequencies ,again at Stanstead the ATIS frequency is quoted at 127.18 while the radio defaults to 127.20, and Ground control is quot…

Until now we had 1 real elevation value for 1 km and all points between was fractal interpolation. From a hint from ChrisS I take the Switzerland data from:ftp://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/srtm/Eurasia/Now with the new SRTM-1 elevation data we can have a real value grid of about 30m ! :-)I just made the first tests and adaptations to my GeoTilesViewer to generate the new elevation for the Switzerland region. Results are very impressive.http://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/BSQTile.jpghttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/SWI0431.JPGhttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/SWI0432.JPGhttp://www.agtim.ch/fu3/images/SWI0433.JPG:-wave agtim

I have attached a screenshot to this message to illustrate a problem that I am having with the colours in FU3. I noticed that there were one or two spots in the 747 cockpit like this, but I thought that the images were just low quality bitmaps (sorry Ansgar). However, this screenshot shows a similar problem inside the Beechjet.I am almost certain that this problem never existed with my GeForce 3 Ti 200. Can anyone suggest a possible solution ? I am using a 128Mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.Chris Low.

  20. As far as I am concerned, nothing comes close to the Beechjet. It handles superbly (both in the air and on the ground), the view from the cockpit is excellent, and the roar when the thrust reversers are engaged is magnificent !I have tried flying Ansgar's Boeing 747-400, but I now realise that it is just far too big and heavy for my flying style. Left downwind at Alameda NAS took me directly over Oakland International, and then the tower controller at Alameda told me that I was going the wrong way :-eek I also noticed that the minimum level of power required to move it forwards on the ground is not enough when it is turning. Messing around with the power levels because o…

I just installed my good, old , FU3 back, after all the time without it. Got the CDs from an old flightsim friend in Portugal! Now, I have some questions...1) I installed, flawlessly over WinXp Pro, and then downloaded the only patch I found at the AVSIM library for the UK version.2) I installed the UK patch, wich brings FU3 to v2;Question) Are there any further official/unofficial patches?Question) I get a very strange sound, particularly when flying the BeechJet. When I increase throttle I get a sort of high pitch prop sound, instead of the old jet sound. Is there anything I can do to solve this?Thx for any help/suggestions/whatever...

Dear All,I finally got around my ntree replacement 'problem' last night. The idea was to create an 'instant upgrade' for all, without needing to open FLED. The results are spectacular (IMHO)! BTW, these are 'untouched' Chris Low packages from the 2004 Seattle release. I simply replaced the modelmip.tag file in the gen folder to see how effective it was.Bergseth/Black Diamondhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/67606.jpgKapowsinhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/67607.jpgRangerhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/67608.jpgSwansonhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/67609.jpgI also updated the tagfile with all my latest models. I love FU3. Don't we all? That goes without saying. With the amazing talent of the folks here, FU3 has been enhanced beyond anything we could've thought possible. Why do we love FU3? There are many reasons including, in no particular order, but not limited to:- Flight modeling- Satellite terrain textures- Water effects- Vertical air current modeling- Dynamic weather- ATC- Looking Glass made great games- All the add-ons and tools are free (thanks to the FU community)But, as time goes on, there are things that we wish we had including, in no particular order, but not limited to:- Helicopters- Multiplayer- 24- or 32-bit color- Higher display resolutions- Larger "world"- Mult…
