The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

I am in the process of reinstalling all my programs after a hard disk replacement! I have installed Fly2, version 2.0.210, which I think is latest version. I have installed Terrascene 2.1 (full ID is 2.1.62). When I startup Terrascen2.1 for the first time, it runs a installation wizard. The first item it ask for is to set the path to FLY2SLICE.exe. The problem, is I can't find this item amywhere on my PC. I even used the WINDOWS SEARCH function, and it too could not find FLY2SLICE. I thought the latest version of FLY2 included the slicer? Any ideas? Is there another program name I should be looking for of instead of FLY2SLICE.exe?Thanks,Jim B

Hello everyone I have question about cleaning up the corners of a terrascene globetile. I remember longtime a go from fly I created two globetiles each form different session and they are right next to each other. When I try to merge the two tiles together I recive errors about the tiles pilling up on each other. I remember that I used a utility called "Globetiles" to clean the excess on the sides of the globetile up. Im not sure if it works for fly 2. Does any utility like "Globetile" work for fly 2 and can anyone tell me where to get this utility.ThanxPluto1168(kelvin)

After receiving clearance from ground control to taxi to your assigned runway, (when using ATC in Fly!2), ground control provides directions to the runway, (arrows along the taxiways) up to the assigned runway.I just installed C4TO this weekend and love using it, with one exception. Upon receiving clearance from ground control to proceed to your assigned runway, there are no direction on how to get there. Not all airports in fly!2 have runway signs. When using C4TO, is there a way to get to the correct runway? When you receive clearance for take off, you are directed to fly the runway heading. HOW DO YOU GET TO THE CORRECT RUNWAY WHEN USING THE FANTASTIC C4TO PPROGRAM…

HiI've just installed Fly! (Fly 1.01.87 final) to my Win2KPro system. When I run Fly I cant control it with my joystick - I can only use thekeyboard. Is there a switch somewhere to enable the joystick?I've calibrated my Joystick from control panel and its shown as OK.Although any presses on the POV isn't recognised - which I can livewithout if I have to. Its a Thrustmaster Pro - 4 buttons and POV.Under Win98 the joystick control works fine. Ive installed it under win2k as I've just fitted a new ATI AIW 8500DV display card which isn't supported under Win98. I didnt know that until I tried to find drivers for it!Hope someone has the answer - cos I keep crashing using the…

Ok, first:I downloaded the Socata.... two words:Holy Carp!(And I mean that in a good way)What a magnificent piece of engineering! Thanks ROTW! The views are just great and immersive. I thought I'd mind the glare shield but I don't...Now on to the meat of my discussion. The Socata flies like a dream - it feels very natural, and aside from some minor joystick calibration issues, and perhaps too sensitive elevator trim, it just feels perfect...The Flyhawk, however, is another story. This is the only plane I've flown in the real world, and it feels a bit "off" - specifically in its willingness to simply roll right over! I know turbulence has some effect on this - heck, I've f…

G'day all,Just a couple of pictures of a work in progress. This is a repaint of the B747-300 IBERIA by Jean Sabatier, Roberto Vigetti and Cory Bourke, with a small input from myself.Qantas have 2 aircraft painted in Aboriginal art liveries.Wanala dreaming and Nalanji dreaming. After the rather bland red tail and all white fuselage of the standard Qantas livery these two liveries are certainly different.Qantas have 16 B737-800's on order and some of them (if not all) will also have an Aboriginal livery. Thanks to Andy Dale for vfr Ocean. Almost makes me want to bait a hook and start fishing. Also thanks go to Danny Vickers and AFG for the nice Brisbane scenery. Final thank…

Yes, I finally saw them. And even in that superb airport scenery by Mannie Garmy. Thanks a lot for this scenery !!!!!!!! (BTW what is your nationality?).I made some screenshots, but the birds were far away. When I tried to taxi to them I pressed the CTRL+TAB buttons just a fraction of a second too late, so they flew over my head and were not to see on the picture. Hope you can see them on one of the earlier ones.
